Introduction Photobooksrus is a software package that has been designed specifically to help you Share your photos, share your life. The software has been designed so that anyone can quickly and easily create a magnificent self-designed memory by following the Wizard, or for the more proficient try using the provided tools to create a professional document with drop shadows, vignettes, masks, shapes and colours. There are several products available ranging from simple Personalised Postcards, Calendars, A4 and A3 Posters or hard Casement bound leather Photobooks. The more you use Photobooksrus and start to familiarise yourself with the tools, the more creative and beautiful the memory will be to share. Photobooksrus software runs directly on your own computer and uses photo libraries you have selected from your hard drive. This means it is not a web based program and runs directly from your hard drive. Once the software has been downloaded and updates/installed there is no Internet usage until you have completed your product and are ready to upload it to us for printing and dispatching via Australia Post (Registered Mail or Express Post). At Photobooksrus, the protection of your privacy is very important to us and we are bound by, and conform to the Australian National Privacy Guidelines (which are part of the Privacy Act) and also adhere to Anti-Spam Regulations. For further Terms and Conditions please Click Here
Getting started The first thing to do is go to the WEBSITE and select Download for Mac or Download for PC. Once you have selected which version suits your computer save it to your hard drive.
Installing PBRS for PC Now that you have downloaded the software find where you downloaded it to and double click the Photobooksrus icon. This will activate the install Wizard, select next. Installing PBRS for PC PBRS will now ask you where you would like to install the software to. PBRS recommends you allow the Wizard to install to its default places. Click Next, on the resulting page click Install. PBRS will now install the software to the designated folder. This will take between 2 and 4 minutes to complete.
Installing PBRS for MAC Now that you have downloaded the software, your MAC will have opened a window that shows a blue suitcase on the left and a PBRS labelled folder on the right. Click and hold the blue suitcase, drag and drop it on the PBRS labelled suitcase and your install is complete.
PBRS first run and software updates for both MAC and PC PBRS will have placed an icon in your start menu/all programs (this also has your uninstall option) and a shortcut on your desktop. The first time you activate the software it will first initialise for a moment and then start up. At PBRS we are continually updating the software, improving current products and adding new ones. The software will automatically check for new updates every time it is started, we recommend you update every time you are notified that there is an update available. It is very important that on the initial start up of PBRS that you do the update as PBRS will not run correctly if it is not updated with the current improvements. MAC will have a much larger download with more products than a PC when you get to this stage.
PBRS software updates After this stage, everything is the same for both MAC and PC and we are nearly ready to start creating. There could be multiple updates to be done, this one shows an application update, check the box and click Next. This has to be done on its own and in this instance PBRS will download the update, install it, restart the software and bring you back to the Auto Update page. Now check the remaining boxes and again PBRS will download and install the update but not necessarily restart the software. Now we are finished and ready to create.

Creating a new Project or opening a Project in progress Well done for getting to this point and now we start creating. This page allows you to either start a new Project or re-open a Project in progress. At any point during the creating stage of a Project you can save and re-open to update or complete later on. In this example, we are going to use the Wizard to create a new project which will be an A4 Landscape Buckram bound Photobook. Using the Wizard is the fastest and simplest way to create your new Project. The Wizard will assist you in getting your Project ready to upload to PBRS. Select the down arrow as highlighted and scroll down until you see Photobook A4 Landscape buckram as highlighted and click on Next.
Adding Photo Libraries After clicking on Next the Wizard will ask you to add a Photo Library. First you must click on the blue folder with a + on it, this will open a browsing window, from here find your library, highlight it and click on Select. There are several more tools in this window that allow you too select individual photos from different libraries, delete photos from the Wizard, rotate left or right and the last tool is to set your sorting order. At any time during this process, or right in the beginning, you can switch off the Wizard by clicking on Skip in the bottom left corner. This will take you directly into the Designer/Editing Software.
Setting initial page count Now that you have added your favourite photos, the Wizard will ask you how many pages you would like or how many pictures per page. Click on the drop down menu to make this selection, click and hold the slider on the right and drag it up or down to add more pages, or to remove pages. Once these selections have been made, click on Next to continue.
Setting the background colour Okay, we are on the final part of the setup. This is where you can select the background colour of each page. If you don t want a background colour select white, don t worry, you can change the background colour of individual pages at any stage later on in the Editing Suite. When you have made this selection, click Next and the program will ask you to call your memory a name. Now we are off to the Editing Suite where you can see your hard work on the screen.
The Editor at a glance Great, we are here at the Editing Suite. The first thing to note is your picture library on the left. There will be a number in red, this number tells you how many times the picture has appeared in the Project, grab the slider and you can scroll up and down through your selected library. Next is the slider across the top that shows you a small preview of your page layout, grab the slider and scroll across to see the other pages. Across the bottom is some sample page styles that we have set up for you to use. When you are comfortable with PBRS you can create your own page styles and masks. Finally, we come to the tool bar on the right. This is where you can rotate, adjust, add borders and drop shadows. We will go through these in detail later on in the manual.
Rotating an image plus basic adjustments The first thing we need to do is to check the orientation of your pictures, the Wizard can possibly place pictures around the wrong way. Along the top of the Tool Bar there is 5 small pictures, each of these pictures represent a different set of tools. The tools may change depending on which product you have selected to create. Select the image that looks like a rectangular box, this will bring up the tools that enable you to rotate, flip, adjust contrast and brightness or add a vignette. Place the mouse pointer on top of the offending image and select it, now move back to the tool bar and select the angle (degree) box. A drop down menu will appear and all you have to do is select which way to rotate. Don t worry if you get it wrong, you can always undo what you have just done by selecting the undo button near the photo library.
Cropping or changing a photo Now say you don t like the photo you are looking at, it is very easy to change the image for a new one. Select a new image from the photo library on the left and drag and drop it on top of the picture you wish to replace. You don t need to delete the old image, PBRS automatically deletes the old image and replaces it with the new one. Cropping an image is also very easy, double click on the photo you wish to crop. A new window will open near the centre of the page, in the bottom right hand corner there is a small square. Select and hold the square, now move the mouse pointer while still holding the mouse button and you will notice a change in the colour of the box you are now holding. To move this new box release the mouse button and select the new box and move your mouse. When you have finished your crop select OK and the crop is complete.
Inserting new pages and previewing your Project Along the top of the window you will see a series of menus. To add or remove a page, select Page and a drop down menu will appear. From here you can insert a page, remove a page or re-arrange every page in the whole book. The next menu to the right is the View menu, select it and a new drop down menu will appear. In this menu there are several different options to hide or change the tools, turn on or off the grids and rulers. You will also find your Preview tool in here, select it and a new window will open. This window allows you to flick through your project page by page. To close it and return to the editor, simply click the red X in the top right hand corner.
Placing an order and uploading your finished project So now you should have clicked, inserted, rotated, cropped and changed the whole Project and you are ready to place an order. Click on the File menu and select Order. PBRS will now check your project for any issues such as low resolution pictures or pictures in the trim area. This brings up frequently asked questions: What is the red line and what is a trim area? The red line is where PBRS will cut the page as part of the binding process. To make the picture run right to the edge of the page part of it must be cut off. PBRS recommends that you take a few minutes to make sure you have placed the picture in such a position that someone may not loose an important body part.
Final order, delivery and payment procedures After the preflight checks have been completed, PBRS will ask you to read the terms and conditions, check the Yes box and then continue on. After a moment PBRS will open a web browser window which will ask you to log on if you already have a used PBRS before, or to create a new user ID if this is your first time. To create a new ID click on Click here, follow the prompts and within a few moments you will have created your new ID to use next time. After logging on to PBRS, we will walk you through the ordering process where you will select how many copies of your project you would like, how you would like it delivered and what coloured covers if applicable. Once these selections have been made you will be directed to a secure PayPal site where your credit card details will be requested. PBRS hopes you have enjoyed the experience of creating your very own coffee table book full of your memories, and are pleasantly surprised when the finished project arrives in the mail.
