5 GENERAL OPERATION INTRODUCTION The PATS system is a PASSIVE Anti-theft system which requires no special procedures for the driver to arm or disarm the system. The system is operated by a transponder fitted within the ignition key s body, which communicates with the PATS module transceiver mounted around the lock barrel. The easy method of identifying a PATS vehicle is if the key has a small imprint showing where the transponder is fitted. The code for the transponder is stored in memory within the PATS amplifier or the Engine Management ECU, Dash panel or Drive Train ECU. The PATS system reads the code when the ignition key is turned from position 0 to position 1. If the correct code is received then the engine will start.

The TESTER will now start to clear the PATS system key codes from memory. After clearing, the PATS system will automatically read the key in the ignition. Follow the instructions to program the second key. Once ENTER has been pressed, you have 5 seconds to insert the second key. SYSTEM PATS 3 CLEAR TIME 10:00 MINUTES

7 KEY PROGRAMMING CODED SYSTEMS (TYPE 1) DIAGNOSTIC MENU > PROGRAM KEYS KEY INFORMATION Select PROGRAM KEYS from menu. PLEASE GAIN AUTHORISATION FROM AD OUTCODE : To program keys on Jaguar Coded systems an authorisation code is required from the Advanced Diagnostics web site. Registration of the FORUM and membership of the authorised group AD100USER is required. INCODE : IS THIS CORRECT OK=ENTER CLEAR=BACK CLEAR KEYS WARNING ALL KEYS WILL CLEARED CONTINUE Insert the OUTCODE into the web site along with other required information and press the CHECK button. Insert the response into the Key Programming device. The keys will now be erased. Press the ENTER to continue. YES=ENTER NO=BACK PROGRAM KEYS ALL KEYS CLEARED KEYS PROGRAMMED : 0 MIN KEYS REQD : 2 Press the ENTER key to continue.

8 PROGRAM KEYS INSERT NEXT KEY SWITCH IGNITION ON Insert the next key to be programmed and press the ENTER key. PROGRAM KEYS PLEASE WAIT Please wait. SWITCH IGNITION OFF AND THEN ON Switch ignition OFF and press the ENTER key. PRESS ENTER TO CONTINUE PROGRAM KEYS PLEASE INSERT FIRST KEY Insert the first key and then press enter. SWITCH IGNITION ON AND PRESS ENTER KEYS PROGRAMMED : 2 2 keys should now be programmed. PROGRAM KEYS COMPLETE

9 KEY PROGRAMMING CODED SYSTEMS (TYPE 2) DIAGNOSTIC MENU Select PROGRAM KEYS from menu. > PROGRAM KEYS KEY INFORMATION PLEASE GAIN AUTHORISATION FROM AD OUTCODE : To program keys on Jaguar Coded systems an authorisation code is required from the Advanced Diagnostics web site. INCODE : IS THIS CORRECT OK=ENTER CLEAR=BACK Insert the OUTCODE into the web site along with other required information and press the CHECK button. 2 KEYS REQUIRED KEYS TO BE PROGRAMMED MUST BE PRESENT TO CON- TINUE Insert the response into the Key Programming device. YES=ENTER NO=BACK PROGRAM KEYS ENSURE KEY IS REMOVED FROM IGNITION ALL keys to be programmed must be available. Press the ENTER key to continue.

10 PROGRAM KEYS Insert the first key to be programmed. PLEASE INSERT 1st KEY TO BE PROGRAMMED PROGRAM KEYS TURN IGNITION ON/OFF Turn ignition ON then OFF. PROGRAM KEYS INSERT SECOND KEY TO BE PROGRAMMED Insert the second key to be programmed. PROGRAM KEYS TURN IGNITION ON/OFF Turn ignition ON then OFF. CYCLE IN ADDITIONAL KEYS NOW IF REQUIRED If additional keys are required cycle them at this point by turning ignition ON then OFF. PRESS ENTER WHEN COM- PLETE PROCEDURE COMPLETE REMOVE KEY WAIT 60 SECONDS When finished remove key and wait for 60 seconds before trying any of the keys.

11 REMOTE PROGRAMMING (TYPE 1) DIAGNOSTIC MENU Select PROGRAM KEYS from menu. > PROGRAM REMOTES REMOTES STORED PLEASE GAIN AUTHORISATION FROM AD OUTCODE : To program keys on Jaguar Coded systems an authorisation code is required from the Advanced Diagnostics web site. Registration of the FORUM and membership of the authorised group AD100USER is required. INCODE : IS THIS CORRECT OK=ENTER CLEAR=BACK ERASE/REPROM REMOTES ALL REMOTES MUST BE PRESENT OR THEY WILL BE PERMENANTLY ERASED CONTINUE YES=ENTER NO=BACK ERASE/REPROM REMOTES REMOTES STORED : 0 ALL REMOTES ERASED Insert the OUTCODE into the web site along with other required information and press the CHECK button. Insert the response into the Key Programming device. ALL remotes to be programmed must be available. Any remotes not programmed will be permanently erased. All remotes will be erased.

12 ERASE/REPROM REMOTES HOW MANY REMOTES DO YOU WANT TO PROGRAM Insert the required number of remotes to be programmed. IS THIS CORRECT YES=ENTER NO=ESC ERASE/REPROG REMOTES REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION Remove the key from the ignition. THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE MUST BE DONE WITHIN 30 SECONDS NOTE : This next procedure must be performed within 30 seconds from pressing ENTER. PRESS AND RELEASE REMOTE THEN PRESS ENTER. ERASE/REPROM REMOTES INSERT KEY SWITCH IGNITION ON Press and release one of the remote control button. Then press the ENTER button. If you have selected more than 1 remote then this procedure will be repeated until all remotes have been programmed. Insert ignition key and turn ignition ON. ERASE/REPROM REMOTES IS IGNITION ON If ignition is on continue. YES=ENTER NO=ESC

PROGRAM REMOTE MAKE SURE ALARM IS DIS- SARMED AND IGNITION IS OFF Insert the response into the Key Programming device. PROGRAM REMOTE PRESS AND HOLD ANY BUTTON TO PROGRAM PRESS BACK TO END

17 TIPS & HINTS KEY PROGRAMMING SLAVE KEYS Note: a. Clear ALL Fault codes before programming. b. Master keys can only be programmed using the 2 PATS keys (A and B) the WDS or the AD PROGRAMMING system. c. In some cases the vehicle doors must be closed to perform the reprogramming sequence. Further slaves can be added without any specialist equipment as follows :- 1. Insert key A, and turn to Position Turn back to Position 0, and remove key A. 3. Insert key B, and turn to Position Turn back to Position 0, and remove key B. 5. Insert the new slave key and turn to Position Remove new key. Key is now programmed. 7. Procedure can be repeated after 20 seconds, for up to 8 slave keys. NOTE : If programming is unsuccessful, the PATS LED will flash when the key is inserted.

18 REMOTE CONTROL PROGRAMMING MANUAL REMOTE PROGRAMMING PROCEDURES XJ8 Remote Control Programming Procedure 1. Unlock the Boot with key. 2. Turn Ignition on. 3. Warning light on dash comes on. 4. When they go out, lift arm rest, inside is a valet button, Press 5 times within 5 secs of lights on dash going out, Horn & Lights Flash. 5. Press any button on remote, remote programmed. Jaguar X300 Procedure 1. Open the boot lid and drivers door, and switch on the ignition. Press central locking switch (in the centre console) 5 times. The siren will chirp to indicate it has entered learning mode. 2. Press the lock button of the remote, the system will chirp to confirm it has received the remote. 3. To program further remotes, press the central locking switch once. The system will chirp twice for remote number two, then press the lock button of the remote as above. 4. Wait for 30 seconds for the system to close and chirp twice. X-Type Remote Control Programming Procedure 1. Get in car 2. Close all doors 3. Insert key in ign 4. Turn on then off 4 times 5. Remove key vehicle will chime 6. Press any button on each remote 7. Open door. XJ/XK Remote Control Programming Procedure 1. Get in car 2. Leave drivers door open 3. Hold headlight lever in high position 4. Insert key and turn on/off 4 or 5 times NOTE : Either hazards will flash or car will chime. 5. Press any button on each remote
