1 Adobe Elements Video Editing SOP ~ Simplified Application: Adobe Premiere Elements, Ver. 15 Raw Video Saved To: Assets >> Raw SD Vid. Dump Video Templates: In Adobe Premiere Projects >> Assets-Editing_Files >> Assets- Common_Editing_Files Hardware Used: My Passport HD, SD Card (MAC OS Format), Macbook Pro Laptop 1. Copy Video from SD Card to Hard drive. Copy video from the SD card to this file path. File Path: My Passport / Adobe Premiere Projects / Assets-Editing_Files / Assets-Raw_Video-SD_Card_Dump 2. Rename the raw video file in this folder. Rename the raw video file to: LessonShortname_MM-DD-YYYY_Speaker. Example: LWR1.1_ _MLanier.RAW 3. Create new Project Folder in *Projects-Adobe_Premiere_Elements. Go to the below file path and create your new project folder in the current series folder. File Path: Adobe Premier Projects and Common Files / *Projects-Adobe_Premiere_Elements / 1-Series LWR- The Long and Winding Road / (Create new folder here Ex. LWR.4.1_ _MLanier) 4. Copy Template Project File to new Project Folder. Go to the below file path on the My Passport HD and copy the TEMPLATE-Series-LWR-The Long and Winding Road.prel file to your newly created project folder. File Path: Adobe Premier Projects and Common Files / *Projects-Adobe_Premiere_Elements / 3-TEMPLATE- Series-ShortName-Folder / (Copy this TEMPLATE-Series-LWR-The Long and Winding Road.prel ) 5. Rename file and Open File in Adobe Elements Rename the file to the below naming convention then double click file to open in Adobe Elements. Make sure you are in Expert mode by selecting the Expert tab. Example: LWR1.1_ _MLanier.prel 6. Update the Title Slide to the Lesson Long Name and or Speaker (if Applicable) Update title slide by selecting the title slide directly. The slide should go black and allow you to edit the text. Update the title and Speaker. This is normally found on Biblical Literacy Internet Team page and or in the Dropbox folders. 7. Import Raw video Media Import your raw video media by selecting Import >> Add Media >> From Files and Folders. This is in the left side of the screen. Go to the Assets-Raw_Video-SD_Card.Folder and find the raw video to import. File Path: My Passport / Adobe Premiere Projects / Assets-Editing_Files / Assets-Raw_Video-SD_Card_Dump

2 8. Delete Announcements at the beginning of the video and blank space at the end of the video Go to the bottom corner of video and hover over that corner. You will see an expansion icon show. Click and then either expand or scale down to where you want the video to start. Do the same in the bottom right corner of the video and scale down to where you want the video to end. Helps if you delete too much of the clip originally. Alternatively, you can delete clips by using the scissors tool on the cursor. Select the beginning of the where your clip deletion starts and select scissors tool. This will break the clip exactly where your cursor is on the timeline. Then select clip and hit delete button. Or Ctrl+Right click then Delete. 9. Add Speaker Overlay to Video 2 section of the video timeline Add overlay to for the speaker by either importing overlay image or selecting the overlay file from Project Assets Folder via Project Assets dropdown. Then place in Video 2 section, a few seconds into speaker s introduction. Then let expand it to about 5-10 seconds, long enough for the viewer to be able to read the banner comfortably. Note: If you ever need to create a new overlay, follow the below file path. Also go to How to Create a New Overlay in Gimp section of this document. File Path: Assets_Editing_Files / Assets_Common_Editing_Files / Overlays / Lower-3 rd _Banners_Overlays / TEMPLATE_Overlay_853.xcf You can copy this template, rename, then update it and export as a.png file. Then place it in your video timeline in Video 2 Section. 10. Add the Cross Dissolve transitions to the Overlay, beginning of Video and end of video. You will next add a cross dissolve before and after overlay. To do this go to your vertical tool bar on the right side of screen. Then go to the Transitions square icon. You will see cross dissolve in the Frequently Used transitions. Select and place it on the overlay. Choose between clips. Then select the transition again from tool bar and place at end of overlay clip. Select the transition again, and place between beginning slide and video and then end of the video and ending slide. 11. Fade in the Audio at beginning of video and Fade Out the Audio at end of video Fade in the audio by CTRL + click on the beginning of the video clip. Go to Clip >> Fade >> Fade in Audio. Do the same to the ending by selecting the end of the video clip, and then select Fade Out Audio. 12. Normalize Audio You will need to normalize the audio for final production. To do this first type Cmd+A to select everything in your timeline. Then hit Ctrl +right click >> Clip >> Audio Gain. Then select Normalize. The goal is to make sure the audio gain is at least 0 db. 13. Review the whole edited video Review the whole edited video, check for any other things that need to be edited out such as interruptions in the flow of the lesson, or any other parts that Brent asks you to remove. Proceed to export the video and audio file.

3 14. Export the Video File Make sure to save the project via Cmd + S. You will need to export the video out of Elements to be uploaded into Youtube, Vimeo, and JV Dropbox Folder. Go to the Export & Share tab in the top right corner. Select Quick Export. You will export the file to the Final Exports folder on the My Passport HD under the appropriate folder. **If the lesson was done in Oct.2017, then the final exported video goes in the folder labeled Oct Check to make sure your file name is still correct. The file type will be an *.mp4. Then select continue. You should receive a notification of a successful export of the file. Note: this will take roughly 1-2 hours long to complete. File Path: My Passport for Mac / Final Exports / Oct Export the Audio File In the main screen, go to Export & Share (top left corner) then select Audio tab, to export the Edited Audio *.mp3. to the Final Exports folder. Add a.edited to the file name. Under Custom Choose the Fidelity rate. You will use the 48KB setting. Make sure it s selected. The goal is the export the audio file to be less then 20mb in size. Then select [Save]. D. Should take a minutes, generally not very long to complete. 16. Import Exported Audio File in Audacity Open Audacity application (Headphones Icon). Go to File >> Import >> Audio. Select your.mp3 audio file from Final Exports folder and it will load. 17. Add Metadata for Audio File Go to File >> Edit Metadata. Select [Load]. This will bring you to a popup to select the xml containing the below metadata for the below fields. Select the file LWR.2017.Tags.xml. This will load the tags/metadata for you. You can add the below data to their corresponding fields. Artist Name - W. Mark Lanier Genre - Bible Study Year Comments Mark Lanier 18. Export Audio to MP3 Click [Export Audio], select where to save it, Save as Type: MP3, Format Options: Variable, (9, kbps smaller files), Fast, Joint Stereo. Make sure to add add.edited and.mp3 to file name. If you don t add.mp3 to the file name, you will get a warning, and file won t work. A window showing progress will appear. When finished check the size of the file by right clicking the file and in the General Properties tab the size will hopefully be less than 20MB. 19. Upload Audio to Dropbox Then go to Dropbox in Finder and place in Current Series folder. The folders are under Current Series. Choose the lesson, with the correct shortname. This will put the file in place for the Internet team access and use as well.

4 20. Upload Video to Youtube A. Open Chrome internet browser. Select the BLC Class Youtube account in the favorites bar towards the top. Go to the top right corner of class page and find the Upload Video icon. Should be a T like symbol, and select it. Then drag and drop your exported video from the Final Exports folder to the area where it says Drag & Drop to Upload on Youtube. B. While it s uploading you can change the title and add About statement for the video and the tags. Like the below example: Title: Long and Winding Road, - The Setting Oct. 1, 2017 About: This video is about the setting of the Old Testament and the how it leads to Jesus. This begins the Long and Winding Road series. LWR1.1 (Lesson Short name) Tags: Biblical Literacy, Bible, Jesus, Old Testament, Long and Winding Road series C. Once completed and you see it s completed the processing, select Publish. Note: this will take about 2 hours to complete the upload overall. When upload is done confirm on account page that you see it uploaded. 21. Upload Video to Vimeo A. In another tab, select the BLC class Vimeo account. In top right corner select Upload icon. Then drop your exported final video to the to the area where it says, Drag & Drop to Upload on Vimeo. B. While it s uploading, add the Title, About, and Tags, like you did for the Youtube upload. Title: Long and Winding Road, - The Setting Oct. 1, 2017 About: This video is about the setting of the Old Testament and the how it leads to Jesus. This begins the Long and Winding Road series. LWR1.1 (Lesson Short name) Tags: Biblical Literacy, Bible, Jesus, Old Testament, Long and Winding Road series. C. Once completed and you see it s completed the processing, select Publish. Note: this will take about 2 hours to complete the upload overall. When upload is done confirm on account page that you see it uploaded. 22. Upload Video to JV Dropbox Folder In another tab, select the Dropbox account icon. Log into the account with the credentials that were provided to you from either Shara De Leon or Jan Seifert-Rice. Go to Files, in the top left corner, this will take you to JV Dropbox Folder. Prior to placing the new edited video file, please delete the current video file from the previous week. This is due to limited space in this folder. Select [Upload Files]. You will get a popup. Go to where your exported video file is. Then select Open. This will begin the upload process. Once video is uploaded, this task is complete. Should take 1-2 hours.

5 Folder and Application Information My Passport Current Folder Structure (My Passport HD): *Projects-Adobe_Premiere_Elements Contains the series or projects. 1-Series LWR-The Long and Winding Road (Current Series) this is the current series. When series has concluded create new folder entitled 1-Series {ShortName} Series Name. Then put last series into folder 4- Projects.Archived.. 3-TEMPLATE-Series-Shortname-FOLDER This is the folder you can copy for a new series. Also contains template *.prel file (copy to make your working file). Assets-Editing_Files Raw video dump, Overlays, and video music is here. Final Exports Your final exports of video and audio file go here. Put in the correct month in this folder. Create a New Overlay in Gimp: In the event, you need to create a new overlay for new speaker. 1. Go to the folder xcf Files for Gimp via this Path: Assets_Editing_Files >> Assets_Common_Editing_Files >> Overlays >> Lower-3 rd _Banners_Overlays >> xcf Files for Gimp >> TEMPLATE_Overlay_853.xcf. 2. You can copy this template, rename to the new speaker s name. Ex., Brent_Johnson_Overlay_853.xcf 3. Open the.xcf file in Gimp. 4. Go to Tools >> Text. This will allow you to update add the Speaker s name and add the speaker s title. Double click on both pieces and cursor will appear, allowing you to update them. 5. When complete, go to File >> Save. Then go to File >> Export. Export as a.png file. Make sure your file name is still correct. 6. Then select [Export]. This will export the file as a.png file. Then place it in your video timeline in Video 2 Section.
