Unloading ModelSpace Views Fig. 2.7 Selected ModelSpace View Loaded 7. To unload a currently loaded Model space view click Accessories CloudWorx Close ModelSpace View Note: If two or more coordinate systems are saved in the ModelSpace view, the user will be prompted to choose the one to be mapped to the current design coordinate system. Note: Clicking Accessories CloudWorx Exit CloudWorx closes the current ModelSpace and shuts down the CloudWorx for Intergraph SmartPlant Review application. Note: Clicking Accessories CloudWorx Regenerate Point Clouds regenerates and updates all points based on specified settings. This can be useful when zooming into refresh point. 3 Navigating Point Clouds 3.1 Point Cloud Layer Manager Point Cloud Layer Manager The Point Cloud Layer Manager provides an interface to manage CloudWorx s Layers while SmartPlant Review. When a CloudWorx ModelSpace View is loaded, the ModelSpace View current layers setting is mapped into CloudWorx for Intergraph SmartPlant Review. CloudWorx Layer Settings can be viewed and changed. 1. Click Accessories CloudWorx Level Manager. Uncheck the View column for the current layer titled Default and click OK. This removes all points from the screen, reason being all point clouds were loaded into the Leica Geosystems HDS Page 7 of 21

current Default layer. Rechecking the View column and clicking OK turns all cloud point back on. (Fig 3.1) Fig 3.1 Point Cloud Layer Manager Note: When scans are turned on using the CloudWorx for Intergraph SmartPlant Review ScanWorld Explorer, incoming points are loaded into the Current CloudWorx layer (Bold) found in the Point Cloud Layer Manager dialog. 3.2 Color Mapping Color Mapping Point cloud color mapping can be edited. In the Point Cloud Color Mapping dialog, a global override setting can be specified. This global setting can help ensure a more consistent appearance from one point cloud to the next. Note: This dialog can be used to view the point clouds with true color mapped from the image taken by the scanner, if available. Exercise: Establish a global intensity for the loaded points: 1. Click Accessories CloudWorx Color Mapping. 2. In the Point Cloud Color Mapping dialog, change the Global Color Mapping type to Intensity Mapping. (Fig. 3.2) Fig. 3.2 Point Cloud Color Mapping 3. Ensure that the Intensity Mapping Range is , a typical range for CloudWorx point clouds. Leica Geosystems HDS Page 8 of 21

4. If True Color is selected, point colors are mapped to a photo link to the scan cloud and stored within the Cyclone Database. If a photo is not present, all points will be green. 5. Click OK to accept and Cancel to keep the previous setting. Note: Based on the selected Point Cloud Color Mapping, all points are redrawn with similar intensities mapped to the selected color. 3.3 ScanWorld Explorer Loading and Unloading Scans A list of all available scans in the attached database can be found in the ScanWorld Explorer. The ScanWorld Explorer is used to selectively show and hide registered scans. The ScanWorld Explorer contains two tabs: Scanners and Scans. Each tab contains a number of columns containing information about each scan. Exercise: Turn on all of the main scans using the ScanWorld Explorer. 1. Click Accessories CloudWorx ScanWorld Explorer 2. In the ScanWorld Explorer, highlight the first ScanWorld listed in the left pane. 3. Click on the tab named Original Scans. (Fig 3.3) Fig. 3.3 ScanWorld Explorer 4. All of the scans contained in the selected ScanWorld are listed in the right pane. 5. Place a check in the Show column next to Scan 1 for each ScanWorld listed if it is not checked already. Experiment by turning scans (point cloud) on and off. (Fig 3.4). Note: The visibility of each scan can be toggled on and off by checking the under the show column for each scan. Note: Information about a specific scan can be viewed by clicking Scanner Info. The Limit Box is discussed in section 3.5. Note: A Cutplane forms a half-space or slice at a user specified thickness. Note: The axis for Section View and Slice operations are VIEW BASED; +X being Positive View Right, +Y being View Vertical up, and +Z into screen. Point cloud clipping operations are managed with the Cutplane Manager, which operates in a similar manner as the previously discussed Hide Regions Manager. Exercise: Create a vertical slice along the length of the room. 1. Orient main view to the North Elevation using SmartPlant s Common View dialog and Fit View to Model. Uncheck Perspective under View Display Perspective. 2. Click Accessories CloudWorx Clipping Point Cloud Slice Y axis 3. Pick the lower point for the view slice and then the upper point. 18 5 Working With Point Clouds 5.1 Measuring Leica Geosystems HDS Measuring Point Clouds One of the most powerful benefits CloudWorx offers is the ability to review a new design within the unaltered real world environment. Also as-built modeled objects can be directly compared to the point cloud for accuracy. The advantage of working directly with a point cloud is all distortions and complexities of the real world are completely and accurately captured. Exercise: Using SmartPlant Review measure the distance of a pipe from an existing wall. 1. Create a new Measurement Collection Titled CloudWorx for Intergraph SmartPlant Review_Test 2. Turn on SPR Tools Measure On-Click Measurement Mode. 3. Click Tools Measure Surface. 4. Select a cloud point on the wall and then a pipe. (Fig. 5.1) Fig 5.1 Measuring the distance of a pipes from an existing wall. Note: All measuring and measurement management is controlled using SmartPlant Review s measuring tool applications. Leica Geosystems HDS Page 18 of 21

5.2 Collision Detection with Point Clouds Leica Geosystems HDS Collision Detection with Point Clouds Another extremely powerful CloudWorx benefit is the ability to perform collision detection directly against point clouds. Exercise: Using SmartPlant Reviews Collision Detection tool to clash against point clouds. 1. Click Accessories CloudWorx Interference Interference Check This opens the Interference Settings Dialog. (Fig 5.2) 2. Select the Interfering Point Color and specify the Interfering Threshold. Check the Hide Original Cloud Points check box if you want to only display points within the specified collision threshold. Click OK to accept and close the dialog. CloudWorx for Intergraph SmartPlant Review interference detection is now activated. Fig 5.2 Interference Settings 3. Click Tools Collision Detection or press <F12> to open SmartPlant s Collision Detection dialog. 4. Under the Type Filtrer tab enter the Colision Set Name and activate Point Cloud Intersection (External Data). Click Apply to accept the current settings. (Fig 5.3) Fig 5.3 SmartPlant Collision Detection Dialog Leica Geosystems HDS Page 19 of 21

5. Under the Selection tab activate Single graphic element and click the Select button. Select the object on the Main View to clash against, Left click to accept. Click Apply to accept the current settings. (Fig 5.4) Fig 5.4 Collision Detection Dialog, Selection Tab 6. Under the Run tab. Check Activate Collision Detection. Click Apply to accept the current settings. Fig 5.5 Collision Detection Dialog, Run Tab 7.
