2 D7 LEADFINDER D7 LeadFinder is a free (at the time of writing) lead generation service. It is a web based service that you can just enter a city and a niche or business type and it will generate up to 1000 related leads. PROBLEMS D7 does have a few limitations. It can return unrelated leads. The data can be inaccurate. Much of the data is missing. Data can be out of date. Data is limited to only a few fields. SOLUTIONS However the D7 LeadFinder data can be imported into LeadFinder local and it will be cleaned up and can generate a whole new set of more accurate and more extensive data. One other advantage is that it does not use Google to find the data therefore it does not count against your monthly API allowance and it is likely to find different data than Google returns. In short it is another tool in your lead finding box. ACCESSING D7 LEADFINDER To access D7 LeadFinder click the 'Data Sources' button on the top menu of LFL and choose 'D7 LeadFinder' from the drop down menu. See the screenshot below. Page 2

3 Go to the D7 LeadFinder by clicking the blue link shown above. This will take you to the D7 LeadFinder page as shown below. GENERATING A LEAD LIST In the CITY and KEYWORD fields add a location I.e. 'Chicago' and a niche or business type i.e. 'dance' and click the GET LEADS button. This will generate a list of related leads. See the screen shot below. Note that not all the leads may be displayed on the page. You need to export as a CSV file to get all available rleads. Page 3

4 EXPORT TO CSV At the top of the newly generated lead list you will see two blue text links. Click the 'EXPORT WINDOWS CSV', select SAVE in the pop-up prompt box and Click OK to download the CSV to your PC. The file will download to your default 'Downloads' directory. This may vary depending on your operating system or browser settings. Page 4

5 IMPORTING YOUR D7 LEADFINDER DATA Before importing your CSV file into Lead Finder Local you need to ensure the file name is correct. Unfortunately at the time of writing the downloaded CSV file from D7 LeadFinder is badly formatted. In practice it may have single quote (') at the font and/or at the end of the file name. Also it may loose it's.csv extension. Access your computers file manager (you can directly access that by clicking on the LFL message on the D7 LeadFinder Import page) as shown below. Page 5

6 FIXING THE FILE NAME As I mentioned earlier the file name is likely to be corrupted so you may have to select 'all files' from the option box on the bottom right of the Windows Explorer (or your particular file manager) window. Now all files will be shown and you can see you downloaded file. In this case it is 'd7leadfinder.com_fitness To correct the file format right click and choose rename. Remove the single quote and add the.csv extension to create the file name shown here. D7leadfinder.com_fitness.csv You can now go back to the LFL D7 Import page and click the CSV text message to open the Explorer window again and you will now find your CSV file. 7 DRAG N DROP OR OPEN? You can open the file or, if you opened up your file manager separately you can drag and drop the file onto the CSV text message on the LFL D7 page. Either way the file will immediately import into LFL and display apage simikar to that shown below. This is now a new project and you can use all the functions within LFL to work with that project. i.e. you can run a build and you will see results similar to those shown below. Note: That no Google reviews are displayed as these business were not sourced from Google. However all other data will be displayed as normal. Page 7

8 SUMMARY You can easily generate a basic lead list fro D7 Lead\Finder. You can then export that file as a CSV file. At this time you will need to find and fix the file name errors. Hopefully D7 will fix that issue and you will not need to do that. Once the file name has been fixed you can open the file or drag and drop it onto the LFL D7 Import page to instantly create anew project. You can then use the LFL functions to get all the additional data and research facility and the contact functions. Don't Forget To Save Your Project! Page 8
