1 SMPI122Rev Exporting Files from Maestro Easy Dental Scan The following instructions will explain how to export, or save, models using Maestro Easy Dental Scan. The first section will explain how to export groups while the second section will discuss exporting individual models. Regardless of whether you are working with a set of models or an individual arch you can export them at any time after the scan is complete. Once exported in the.stl format they may be forwarded for digital alterations, manufacturing, or appliance fabrication. Please note - If you are working with a set of arches we recommend scanning the MMR (bite scan) and relating the set before exporting the files. This procedure cannot be performed without the information from the MMR scan. The digital bite relationship will only be applied to files exported after the procedure has been completed. Performing the procedure first allows you to send just the arches during the upload. Exporting groups from Easy Dental Scan: This section will explain how to export groups of models from Easy Dental Scan. When you export an entire group it will save all of the files contained within the group in a newly created folder. This can make it easier to identify specific models because the new folder will retain the name you have given to the group in Easy Dental Scan. 1. First you will want to locate the group you wish to export in the file tree. Click on it to select it. 1 Exporting Files from Maestro Easy Dental Scan Great Lakes Orthodontics

2 2. If you want to view the files to confirm they are the correct ones you can click on the plus sign next to the group name to expand it. This will allow you to see the files contained within this group. 3. You can left click on individual files to view them in the main window. You can also hold down the Ctrl key and click multiple models to view them at the same time. Please note If a pair of arches does not display in a bite relationship when both are selected the files are not related. 3 4. Before exporting you will want to click on the name of the group so that only it is highlighted. 5. The icon outlined in red is the export icon. It will display either a Z or a Y depending on which was selected the last time it was used. You will most likely want it set to Z. If it currently shows a Z you can click the icon and skip to step 8. If it shows a Y you will want to follow the next two steps to correct it. 6. 4 7. From the drop down menu you can select Z if the icon did not previously display it. Please note - Selecting Z Exports from this drop down menu will initiate an export. Do not click this until you have selected the group you wish to export. 8. The pop up window pictured below should appear. You will want to select a target location to save the files to. This can be the desktop, a specific folder, or any other location you desire. If you choose nothing they will be saved in the patient s folder on the hard drive. Keep in mind that the location you choose here is where you will need to retrieve the files from later. 5 9. Once the files have finished exporting the following message should appear. You will notice that the group and file names are shown for each file listed. 10. You will now need to locate the folder that has been created in the target location of your choice. The folder will have the same name as the group you chose to export from Easy Dental Scan. 11. When you open the folder you will see all of the files that were in the group. You can select the files from this location during the upload process. Please note - If you are sending a set of arches and have already related them in the Easy Dental Scan Program you will only need to forward the upper and lower jaw scans by uploading them to our portal. 6 Exporting individual files from Easy Dental Scan: This section will explain how to export individual models from Easy Dental Scan. You may prefer to export an individual model in situations where only one arch will be forwarded for digital alterations, manufacturing, or appliance fabrication. When you export an individual model only the model will be saved to the target location. This can make it difficult to identify specific models so you will need to rename them before exporting them from Easy Dental Scan. 1. First you will want to locate the group that contains your file/s in the file tree. Click the plus sign next to the group name to expand it. You will now be able to see the individual models the group contains. If your file is not part of a group you can click on the model s name in the tree as shown in step Once the group is expanded you can click on the individual model s name. You can also hold down the Ctrl key and click multiple models to view them at the same time as shown in the second picture. Whichever file names are highlighted are the ones which will be exported. Please note - If you are sending a set of arches and have already related them in the Easy Dental Scan Program you will only need to forward the upper and lower jaw scans by uploading them to our portal. If you have not related the pair you must include the MMR file in the upload. Please note Now is a good time to rename the file/s you will be exporting. Clicking on a file name a second time after it is already selected will allow you to do this. Simply type something recognizable as the new name and click elsewhere to apply the change.
