1 SMPI123Rev Exporting Files from Maestro Ortho Studio The following instructions will explain how to export, or save, models using Maestro Ortho Studio. When you are working with models in Ortho Studio you may export them at any time. Once exported in the.stl format they may be forwarded for digital alterations, manufacturing, or appliance fabrication. Exporting from Ortho Studio: This section will explain how to export models from Ortho Studio. When you export models the program will save them in a newly created folder. The folder will contain all of the models in the set as well as a file showing the clerical information you have entered. This makes it much easier to identify specific models after exporting them. 1. You will need to begin by opening the model set you wish to export. Once it is displayed in Ortho Studio click on the Home tab. 2. The icon outlined in red is the export icon. It will display either.stl,.ortho or a picture of an ipad depending on which was selected the last time it was used. For the purpose of these instructions you will want it set to.stl. If it currently shows a.stl you can click the icon and skip to step 5. If it shows something else you will want to follow the next two steps to correct it. 1 Exporting Files from Maestro Ortho Studio Great Lakes Orthodontics

2 3. The down arrow next to the icon will allow you to access the drop down menu. 4. From the drop down menu you can select STL Exports if the icon did not previously display.stl. Selecting Exports for Ortho Viewer will allow you to create a.ortho file..ortho files can be opened in certain viewers so that the models can be visually inspected. Selecting Exports for ipad Ortho Viewer will allow you to create a file which can be viewed on the application available for the ipad tablet. Please note - Selecting STL Exports from this drop down menu will initiate an export. Do not click this until you have opened the model set you wish to export. 2 Exporting Files from Maestro Ortho Studio Great Lakes Orthodontics

3 5. The pop up window pictured below should appear. You will want to select a target location to save the files to. This can be the desktop, a specific folder, or any other location you desire. If you choose nothing they will be saved in the patient s folder on the hard drive. Keep in mind that the location you choose here is where you will need to retrieve the files from later. Once the location is chosen from the list you will need to click OK. Please note The C- ##### shown in this window is generated by the program and will be the name of the newly created folder. Make note of it so that you will know which folder you need to retrieve your files from. If you forget it you will have to open the clerical data file in each folder to identify it. 6. Once the files have finished exporting the following message should appear. You will notice that the C- ##### and file names are shown for each file listed. 5 7. You will now need to locate the folder that has been created in the target location of your choice. The name of the folder will be the C- ##### code that was listed in the pop- up windows from the two previous steps. Please note - Now is a good time to rename the folder. Clicking on the folder s name a second time after it is already selected will allow you to do this. Simply type something recognizable as the new name and click elsewhere to apply the change. If you do not rename it you will need to open the folder and view the.txt file to see which case or patient the models belong to. 8. When you open the folder you will see all of the files that were in the model set. You can select the files from this location during the upload process. Please note Now is a good time to rename the files you have exported. Clicking on a file name a second time after it is already selected will allow you to do this. Simply type something recognizable as the new name and click elsewhere to apply the change. Adding a patient name or case number will make it much easier to keep track of individual files during the upload process. If you choose not to do this you will end up with a bunch of files named Maxillary model or Mandibular model with no easy way to tell one from another. 5 Exporting Files from Maestro Ortho Studio Great Lakes Orthodontics

6 9. The file named C- #####.txt contains the clerical information you entered for the model set in Ortho Studio. If you open it you will see something similar to what is pictured below. In the event that you forget which folder belongs to a patient you can open this file to view their name or the chart number. 6 Exporting Files from Maestro Ortho Studio Great Lakes Orthodontics
