1 Faculty Tutorial: Export/Import a Test Purpose: To demonstrate to faculty members how to export a test from one course, and then import it into another course. This process can also be used for Surveys and Pools. Start in the course from which you would like to export a test. Click Course Tools, which is located in the gray Course Management menu. 2 In the sub menu that opens, select Tests, Surveys, and Pools. The Tests, Surveys, and Pools page will open. Select Tests. Indian Hills Community College Page 2 of 13

3 The Tests page will open. Hover over the test you would like to export (which will highlight it). Then, click the drop down arrow that appears. In the sub menu that opens, select Export to Local Computer. Indian Hills Community College Page 3 of 13

In the pop up window that opens, click Save to save the zipped file of your assessment to the Downloads folder on your computer, or, select Save as if you would like to save the file to an area other

Note: The process described for saving the zip file to your computer, as well as the images shown, assume you are using the Windows 7 operating system and the latest version of Internet Explorer.

4 In the pop up window that opens, click Save to save the zipped file of your assessment to the Downloads folder on your computer, or, select Save as if you would like to save the file to an area other than your Downloads folder. We recommend saving to your Desktop for easy access. However, we also suggest that you save the file to your personal USB Flash Drive for backup purposes. Note: The process described for saving the zip file to your computer, as well as the images shown, assume you are using the Windows 7 operating system and the latest version of Internet Explorer. This process may vary slightly if you are using a different operating system or browser. Select the location where you would like to save the file on your computer. Then, click Save. To quickly access the Tests area of the course into which you would like to import the test, click the drop down arrow next to the Home icon in the top left corner of the page.

Note: Using the drop down arrow allows you to be taken from the area you are viewing in your current course to the same area in the course you select from the menu that opens (shown below), if available. In the menu that opens, select the course into which you would like to import the test. Note: You may also access the Tests area of the course using the steps shown at the beginning of this tutorial. 7 Select Browse My Computer. Locate the zipped file you would like to upload. Click Open. Indian Hills Community College Page 7 of 13

8 The file should now appear on the Test Import page. Click Submit. The Test Import Complete page will open. Indian Hills Community College Page 8 of 13

9 Click OK. You will be taken back to the Tests page. The test you imported should now appear on this page. Indian Hills Community College Page 9 of 13

10 Now that the test has been imported, let s make it available to students. From within a course content area, hover your cursor over Assessments. 11 The Create Test page will open. In the box next to Add an Existing Test, select the test you imported. Then, click Submit. Indian Hills Community College Page 11 of 13

After making your selections on the Test Options page, click Submit.

12 The Test Options page will open. A green Success message will appear at the top of this page stating that your test was created. After making your selections on the Test Options page, click Submit. Note: Please see the tutorial Create A Test for details on the Test Options page. You will be taken back to the content folder. If you wish to edit the test, edit the test options, or delete the test from the content area, hover your cursor over the test (which will highlight it) and click the drop down arrow that appears.
