Where a combination nipple can pull out of a hose due to high pressure or end pull, the tri-lock uses a stainless yoke that is locked onto the hose when attached with stainless clamps. Standard plated steel Tri-locks are most often found in hot tar or petroleum applications. when crimped, the ferrule locks into the coupling collar as shown 19

In addition, to prevent juvenile fin fish from being dragged onto the screen, the fluid velocity must be limited to less than 4.33"/second by providing adequate screen area. Based on this data, we have increased our offering of strainers to suit various pumping rates. Note, these strainers are designed with common fin fish in mind. For eel, burbot, and other slow swimming species, flow rates should be 1/3 of the amounts shown. These galvanized steel couplings are economical and are quick and simple to connect. The ball and socket design allows for couplings to be connected even when the parts are mis-aligned, and connections can flex up to 30% in all directions. Extra long hose shanks allow lots of room for multiple clamps. Always use safety clips to prevent accidental disconnection while in service. Other sizes are available upon request.
