3 1 Before Start This Operation Guide explains how to use tracks from the Pulselocker ( Pulselocker tracks ), a music streaming service for DJs, in rekordbox. Pulselocker is available in Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States (as of September, 2017). In order to access the service, subscription of Pulselocker is required. If you choose the Professional plan, you can play Pulselocker tracks in clubs and public venues. If you choose the Basic plan, you cannot play Pulselocker tracks in such places (as of September 2017). For the latest information, check the Pulselocker website. [ Pulselocker tracks can be used in Performance mode of rekordbox or higher. Please update rekordbox to the latest version if its version is earlier than To use rekordbox Performance mode, buy a rekordbox dj license key and activate it. You can also choose monthly subscription or free trial to use rekordbox dj. 4 2 How to use Pulselocker tracks 2.1 Create a playlist at the Pulselocker website Log in on the Pulselocker website to create a playlist to add tracks Launch rekordbox and select Performance mode Select Performance mode. [Pulselocker] appears in the Tree View. *In Export mode, [Pulselocker] is not appeared. *To hide [Pulselocker] in Performance mode, Open [Preferences] > [View] > [Layout] and untick Pulselocker. 2

5 2.3 Load Pulselocker playlists to rekordbox 1 Click in the Tree View. Pulselocker login screen appears. 2 Enter your Facebook account or and password you used for your Pulselocker account setup. Click [Login]. Pulselocker tracks are shown in the track list if login successfully completed. - Playlists you created in the Pulselocker website are shown in [Pulselocker] in the Tree View. - Select [Pulselocker] in the Tree View and input letters in the search filter. Pulselocker tracks containing the input letters are shown in the track list. - Select [Pulselocker] > [All tracks] in the Tree View. All tracks in the playlists created in the Pulselocker website ( Pulselocker playlist ) are shown in the track list. - When selecting [All tracks], click button at the top of the track list to display only off-line tracks. 3

6 - To log out Pulselocker, right-click in the Tree View and select [Log out] from the drop-down menu. - When you changed your playlist at the Pulselocker website after showing Pulselocker tracks on rekordbox, click button to reflect the change to rekordbox. - Pulselocker tracks can be added to playlists in or under [Playlists] category in the Tree View. - When importing* Pulselocker tracks to rekordbox, they will be shown in [Collection]. * Pulselocker tracks can be imported to rekordbox either in the following ways. Drag & drop Pulselocker tracks and to load them. Right-clock Pulselocker tracks and select [Import to Collection] from the dropdown menu. Drag & drop Pulselocker tracks to [Collection]. Drag & drop Pulselocker tracks to a playlist in [Playlists]. 2.4 Stream Pulselocker tracks Select a Pulselocker track in [Pulselocker] in the Tree View. The track will be shown in the track list. Once you imported a track, the track will also be shown in [Collection]. icon will be shown on Pulselocker tracks. Drag & drop a Pulselocker track to a Deck. The track will be imported to [Collection] and then loaded to the Deck. Now you can stream the track. If you choose the Professional plan, you can play Pulselocker tracks in public venues such as clubs. If you choose the Basic plan, you cannot play Pulselocker tracks in public (as of September, 2017). - To import a Pulselocker track without loading it to a Deck, right-clock the track and select [Import to Collection] from the drop-down menu. 4

7 - You can import multiple Pulselocker tracks at once. Click multiple tracks while pressing SHIFT key to select multiple tracks. (Ctrl + A: select All) Right-click the multiple tracks while they are highlighted and select [Import to Collection] from the drop-down menu. 2.5 Set cue points on Pulselocker tracks You can set cue points and edit beat grid on a Pulselocker track when loaded to a Deck just as you do for non-pulselocker tracks. 2.6 Search Pulselocker tracks You can search Pulselocker tracks by title, artist, label, and album name. Search items depend on the category selected in the Tree View. [Pulselocker]: Search all Pulselocker tracks. [Pulselocker] > [All tracks]:search tracks in the all playlists created at the Pulselocker website. [Pulselocker] > [Playlists] > (playlist name):search tracks in the selected playlist. 5

8 2.7 Play Pulselocker tracks offline To play Pulselocker tracks offline, you need to download tracks online before you play them. Please follow the steps below to download Pulselocker tracks. 1. Connect your computer to the internet. 2. Click a playlist in the Pulselocker category in the tree view. 3. Select Pulselocker tracks you wish to play offline and right-click them. To select multiple tracks, click them while pressing SHIFT key. (Ctrl + A: select All) Then right-click the multiple tracks while they are highlighted. 4. Click [Store Offline]. The Pulselocker tracks will be downloaded. Now you can play the Pulselocker tracks offline. To delete the downloaded tracks from your computer, click [Remove stored track] in the step 4 above. The tracks deleted in the step 4 will remain in rekordbox track lists and can be streamed online. *To play Pulselocker tracks offline, you must subscribe to the Professional plan. (If you subscribe to the Basic plan, you cannot download Pulselocker tracks.) *You cannot play Pulselocker tracks offline if you just import them to rekordbox. To play Pulselocker tracks offline, please follow the instructions above. 6

9 2.8 Functional restriction The followings are the restrictions when using Pulselocker tracks in rekordbox: - EXPORT mode - Export to USB device is disabled. - LINK EXPORT is disabled. - PERFORMANCE mode - Export to USB device is disabled. - Recording is disabled. - CAPTURE is disabled. - Tracks can only be loaded maximum 2 DECKS. (Basic plan) (With the Professional plan, you can use maximum 4 DECKS.) - Pulselocker tracks cannot be loaded to DECKS when offline. (Basic plan) (With the Professional plan, you can play tracks on rekordbox even when offline if the tracks are set as offline tracks.) - Loading onto Sampler Deck is disabled.
