1 Software Announcement July 18, 2006 Heritage Ascential software portfolio, now available in Passport Advantage, delivers trustable information for enterprise initiatives Overview With the 2005 acquisition of Ascential Software Corporation, IBM added a suite of offerings to its information management software portfolio that helps you profile, cleanse, and transform any data across the enterprise in support of strategic business initiatives such as business intelligence, master data management, infrastructure consolidation, and data governance. The heritage Ascential programs in this announcement are now available through Passport Advantage under a new, streamlined licensing and pricing model. The function of the products has not changed. If you purchased maintenance for heritage Ascential products, you can renew your entitlements based upon the announced programs. Within a high-performance parallel framework, WebSphere ProfileStage Enterprise Edition automates the process of profiling and analyzing source data-column values and structures, providing target database recommendations such as primary keys and foreign keys. It reduces the time and cost required for implementing business initiatives by identifying the reliability of the data. WebSphere QualityStage Enterprise Edition automates the process of investigating, standardizing, matching, and surviving data, reducing the time and cost required for implementing business initiatives, and also improving the reliability of the data used for both operations and analytics all within a high-performance parallel framework. WebSphere DataStage Enterprise Edition supports the collection, transformation, and distribution of large volumes of data, with data structures ranging from simple to highly complex. It manages data arriving in real time as well as data received on a periodic or scheduled basis and enables companies to solve large-scale business problems through high-performance processing of massive data volumes. A WebSphere DataStage Enterprise Edition license grants entitlement to media for both WebSphere DataStage and WebSphere DataStage Enterprise Edition. WebSphere RTI enables WebSphere DataStage jobs to participate in a service-oriented architecture (SOA) by allowing them to receive and route real-time service requests. simplifies the implementation of data transformation in any data integration project. 2 New license structure Description With this announcement, the subject programs have a new structure for licensing and pricing, designed for clarity and simplicity. The former tiered approach to licensing processors on a server has been replaced with a new approach that provides a base entitlement for each product module, with additional processors, additional users, and companion products available at an additional linear charge. For details of the new pricing, refer to the Terms and conditions section. If you purchased current maintenance for heritage Ascential products, you can renew your entitlements based upon the announced programs.
