Thin Clients are small devices that replace computers (older style workstations or desktops) Thin Clients may be new fan-less devices, or hard-driveless older end-of-life PCs Thin Clients connect to servers where all the application software and information is maintained

13 Thin Clients Exclusion Criteria Thin Clients may not be well suited for: High End Graphics applications (CAD/CAE) and workstations Power-Users that demand control over their workstations Users that require multiple LCDs, with proper desktop pinning Users with many integration/synchronization devices at their PC Software Applications that are not WTS session aware Remote WAN sites with no local WTS server and unreliable IP Clients may already have this problem if central applications are run to WAN sites with poorly available internet/ip connection Clients that have made an investment of new servers & workstations

15 Thin Clients Next Steps Decide on what Infrastructure will be implemented/changed WTS Server/Licenses (Virtual/VM, New Standalone, Licensed Users) Optional: Disaster Recovery/ Bare Metal Server Recovery in Place Develop Project Plan and related Quotes Purchase new components (as needed) Perform Rollout (with user Training & Communication) For better business availability, work may be scheduled off-hours Implement Strategy for older workstations as they retire Ongoing Support (at a lower cost and business disruption )
