1 1. Intention of this Application Note: For storing and recalling light scenes, there is a scene selection control functionality implemented within the RCM 110 module (scene memory). In addition to up to six user-defined scenes (memories M0 to M5), the basic control functions All lights on and All lights off are given. Scene Selection Control works within all RCM 110 operating modes (Rocker Switch 1 channel, Rocker Switch 2 channel, Rocker Switch 4 channel and Dimming). Scenes can be stored and recalled by the HRC radio telegram (ORG = 8) that is generated by a TCM 120 module or a Handheld Remote Control realised by TCM130. In addition, scenes can be recalled by PTM modules (have to be learned through Scene Switch Learning Mode SSLM). What you need therefore: 4x 1xTCM120 c) 1 PC with at least one free serial connector (RS 232) a) 5 x -boards with 4 x receivers (DA to DD), 1 x TCM120 sender (S) and 5 standard power supplies b) 3 x PTM250 labelled as shown: rockers (SA, SB, SC, SD, for dimmer control) and SCENE ( ON/ OFF, M0/M1) d) TCM-Monitor software (free) Page 2 of 6

Demo Configuration: 1 Install the (actual) TCM-Monitor software on your PC. 2 Configure your first EVA-board (S) for TCM120 operation (TCM/RCM jumper to TCM mode and MODE switch to 000 and plug in the TCM120 module). This particular TCM120-board (S) together with the TCM- Monitor software will emulate the Handheld Remote Control (HRC) unit for demo. Now plug in the board power supply. 3 Connect the serial cable RS232 between your PC and this board, start the TCM-Monitor application on the PC and push Send TCT. Now your TCM120-board S will send his factory programmed Base ID, for example ID range 0x: ff.ff.ff.00. You will need the TCM Base ID later on (7.) 4 Configure the other four -boards (DA to DD) as -boards in dimmer MODE: All TCM/RCM jumpers to RCM, all MODE switches to 101 (= dimmer mode 5) and plug the modules in each -board. For evaluation connect on each -output a LED to ground. Connect now each of the -boards to their power supply. 5 Teach the first two PTM250 switches SA, SB, SC, SD to the four - boards DA to DD (set in LRN mode one after the other) as follow: SA-rocker to the board DA, SB-rocker to the -board DB and so on. The rockers will serve to manually dim and switch on/off the four lamps. 6 Make sure that each of the four single rockers SA, SB, SC, SD together with his assigned -board (DA, DB, DC and DD) receiver properly work. 7 Now you will need your own TCM120 ID-Range as read on (3) to communicate with him. Following sequence commands will learn the buttons HA, HB, HC and HD (HRC emulator) to the particular -boards using the TCM-Monitor application as follows: a) In field TRT set Data_Byte_3 to 00 (emulates HA), set ID_Bytes to ff.ff.ff.00 = your own TCM ID Range as read on point 3 and set Type to HRC. Set the -board DA in LRN-mode. Push Send TRT. Leave LRN-Mode of -board DA. b) Same Procedure for -boards DB, DC, DD each: Field Data_Byte_3 = 50 for HB, 90 for HC and D0 for HD. 8 The third PTM250 (SCENE switch) have to be learned to all four DA DD -boards set into SSLM mode to serve as a scene switch ( OFF/ ON, M0 / M1): Set all four -boards to SSLM mode at the same time and operate any of the SCENE switch rockers. All four boards will confirm the correct learning by 4 seconds output on. The second rocker of the scene switch is assigned automatically. 9 In case of any errors please initialise first the EVA-board again (CLEAR, Page 3 of 6

5 11 Now you set your own scenes via Dimmer Control switches SA, SB, SC and SD. Then store the scenes via the HRC-emulator as follows: 11.1 HRC Telegram Store in M0 : - Data Bytes: 78 (STORE M0) 12 Change the scene via the dimmer control switches SA to SD and store as M1: 12.1 HRC Telegram Store in M1 : - Data Bytes: 58 (STORE M1) 13 The stored scenes can now be recalled via the scene switch or via the HRCemulator as follows: 13.1 HRC Telegram Recall M0 : - Data Bytes: 70 (REC M0) 13.2 HRC Telegram Recall M1 : - Data Bytes: 50 (REC M1) Page 5 of 6
