DEVICE IMAGING AND INTEGRATION DII Meetings Michelle, Lillie, Anthony Josh, Daniel, Frankie, Johnny The DII Team and Frankie Jackson met this week for book discussion on The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership. Josh Zhang presented on the Laws of Magnetism and Connection. Johnny Chen from Prime stopped by towards the end of the meeting. Anthony Melton and Larry Barrios were invited to the CFISD weekly wireless meeting on Wednesday May 3 rd. DII supports Transportation with technical initiatives. In this meeting, the group was involved in discussing wireless at the Transportation Centers to support Matt Morgan, Assistant Superintendent of Support Services, and Bill Powell, Director of Transportation with their AngelTrax software. Members from ECN (Ray, Elizabeth, Oscar, and Anna), Layer3 and AngelTrax representatives were present.
Microsoft Live Stream Education Webinar The DII Team watched a Live Stream Webinar event with Microsoft called "What's Next". During this event, Microsoft unveiled new technologies such as Windows S, Minecraft Education Edition, the latest Surface Laptop, and other great tools for Office.
DII In Action Josh Over the weekend, a power surge damaged one of the TLETS computers in the dispatch office at CFPD. TLETS stands for The Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System, the computer used to run background checks against the state criminal database and is one of two computers CFPD dispatch uses. The power surge corrupted the hard drive and Juan Cruz reached out to DII to see about recovering the system and data. Josh Zhang was able to extract the software and data and image it onto a replacement hard drive to resolve the issue. Michelle Campos has been helping dance teacher Barbie Parker at LCHS with some software issues she has been experiencing. She was running a version of Sound Forge that was purchased in 2006 and obviously was not compatible with Windows 10. Michelle worked with the coordinator and teacher to get the new version of the software purchased. Anthony Melton and Michelle installed the software on her desktop and MacBook. Barbie, Michelle, Anthony
DII In Action Austen, Daniel, Stacy Austen Chang and Daniel discussed Apple application development with Stacy Armstrong of the CyWoods Computer Science department. Austen and Daniel Daniel and Austen Chang conferred regarding a wireless presentation device proof of concept. Lillie Lillie Swearingen worked on packages for ClassFlow Desktop, Zoom, ChemSketch, and GeoGebra. These are currently under field testing.
Instructional Tech Advisory Committee Larry Barrios, DII Manager, participated in the first meeting of the Instructional Technology Advisory Committee. This committee was put together by Becky Cook, Dr. Linda Macias, and Mary Jadloski. In attendance were principals and Director of Instruction from Elementary, Middle, and High schools. Larry, Paula Ross, Jennifer Miller, Greg Rhodes, and Frankie Jackson represented Technology. The topic, lead by Eric Sheninger, author of Digital Leadership, guided the group in a BYOT discussion. The group voiced their concerns and expectations of kids Bringing Their Own Technology (BYOT) into the classrooms. Instructional Technology Advisory Committee
