1 Posted by Michael Raspet, Network Analyst/NIC Updates to Datacenter 3 Michael Raspet was tasked with uninstalling and removing legacy network equipment that was no longer utilized in the production environment. The removal of the equipment while freeing valuable rack space will also decrease the electrical and cooling load within the datacenter.
2 Posted by: Janette Martinez, Network Infrastructure and Communications Facilities 2018 Summer Renovation Campuses On Friday, April 20th, Janette Martinez, Michael Raspet, Anna Senties, Elizabeth Montes and Derly Buentello attended a meeting with facilities to discuss the kitchen renovations at Ault ES, Bang ES, Emmott ES, and Hamilton ES and step through the timeline. On Friday, April 27 th, the technology equipment (WiFi access points, computers, time clocks, kitchen POS equipment) along with the other kitchen equipment will removed from the kitchens so the renovation can begin. To support this effort, the kitchen manager s office and POS equipment was moved to temporary locations and boxed lunches will be served at these campuses during the last month of school.

4 Posted by: Sani Saqr, Network Analyst Operational Service On Friday April 20 th Sani Saqr called PS Lightwave to troubleshoot 3 different fiber strands that were out in his quadrant. All 3 were uplinks to the ISC from different Locations including Birkes ES, Lee ES and Kirk ES. After further Troubleshooting PS Lightwave found that all 3 cases were caused by damage to the lines in separate Incidents. They are working to fix the Damaged lines and their will be no outages because of these incidents.

Andrew and Matthew brought those in and installed them and then discussed with ECN s Manager David Deitsch what they would need to get those working properly.

After the replacement, David performed 911 testing to confirm that the caller id and correct physical address is being passed to Harris County Sheriff s Office 911 dispatching center.

With all the devices discovered into the Network Performance Monitor module, Elizabeth and David Glennon continue tweaking the software to optimize performance. This week Elizabeth installed and set up the Network Traffic Analyzer Module, with this tool the NIC team will be able to monitor and analyze the network bandwidth for the school district.
