Members ask questions, share information, and discuss topics that are relevant to our day-to-day work with students ages birth through 21. This issue of AT/FYI... is a list of apps that have come to our attention in recent months. They may fill a need for a student or for you. Check them out! Academics IXL Math The mobile version of this app is available for ios, Android, and Kindle. The app is designed for tablets and provides math practice for students pre-k through grade 12. Google Play, itunes, or Kindle Fire Free Simplemind An intuitive mind mapping app to help organize thoughts and ideas. Google Play Free 3

4 Annotation GoodNotes 4 The user can handwrite or type to create documents or annotate PDF documents. Lined paper, graph paper, music paper, and a variety of notebook papers are included. Users can annotate images. Links to electronic mailboxes and sharing. itunes $7.99 iannotate 4 Use iannotate to take notes, sign documents, highlight documents, insert stamps, etc. itunes $9.99 Notability Notability works across all ios platforms with ios 9.0 or higher. The user can add text, sign, share documents, edit, drag and drop text or images, handwrite and sketch content. The app has a wide range of fonts styles and sizes and colors. The user can highlight, use interactive checklists, and annotate slides and documents. Audio recordings can be recorded and linked to notes. Links to electronic mailboxes and sharing. itunes $9.99 Office Lens This app converts pictures of whiteboards (including handwriting) and documents into editable Word and PowerPoint files. It works like a scanner. itunes Free PDF Form Filler Fill out forms by inserting any text content, images or checkmark, etc. itunes $7.99 Communication Avaz A full-feature communication app for Android. Uses picture symbols or photographs (including your own) to establish a touch communication system of multiple levels. Google Play $37.99 Digital Presentation Accessibilty Join.Me Join.Me is a web-based collaboration software application for screen-sharing and online meetings. To share a desktop or host a meeting, users must first download and install join.me software. Mobile apps are available for Android and ios. Free and paid versions from Join.Me. Screenleap The contents of the host computer s browser window or screenshots can be shared with others using Screenleap. Google Chrome TeamViewer This is remote access and support software. It can be trialed and purchased. Teamviewer.com We Transfer This app is a way to collect information and images and share in the form of visual boards. itunes free 4

5 Zoom Extension for Chrome The Zoom Extension can be used with the websites, Google calendar to invite student to join a presentation and Schoology to enlarge information for students. Document Accessibility Read2Go This app is an accessible ebook reader that makes reading Bookshare titles easy. itunes $19.99 Reading Ruler This Chrome extension helps you to read long texts on web pages by highlighting the reading line. The reading line is moved with the arrow keys and moves automatically from page to page. Google Chrome Snapverter Snapverter is an add-on for Read&Write for Google that converts printed documents and inaccessible digital files into Readable PDF files for easy sharing and reading aloud in Google Drive. Google Chrome Voice Typing in Google Docs This is not an app, but is very helpful to students and teachers. The process allows you to talk, type, and edit. The simple instructions for getting it set up are: 1. Turn on the microphone 2. Open a document in Google docs 3. Click Tools Voice Typing (a microphone box will appear) 4. Click the microphone icon and start talking 5. Speak clearly and remember to say the punctuation you need 6. To finish, click the microphone to turn it off. Organization and Study Google Calendar This app is a calendar with a to-do list, goal area, and reminders.
