1 GET STARTED WITH SKYPE FOR BUSINESS WINDOWS 7 AND 10 This guide is made of multiple sections: A. Installation of Skype for Business B. Audio and Video C. Skype meeting D. Supplementary information Before you can start using Skype for business, you need to install the client on your computer. It s important that the computer you use with Skype For Business is your own private computer and not a computer from your internship. Internet connection is required throughout the installation and while you re using the Skype for Business client. Before attending the meeting using the Skype for business client it s important that you make time to install and test Skype for Business A. INSTALLATION OF SKYPE FOR BUSINESS 1. Close all open documents, web pages or applications currently running on your computer 2. Go to following webpage: 3. type in your UCN which is your username@ucn.dk then click Next 4. When redirected to our office organization page, fill in the password field and click Log in 5. When logged in, find and click the button Install Office apps and select Other installation options 6. Click on the link to the left Skype For Business 5. april 2018 University College Nordjylland 1
2 7. Click Install. 8. When you get the question whether to save or run setupskypeforbusiness, select Run 9. When asked Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device? select yes When you press yes, the installation will start. 10. When the installation window is like the one shown below, installation is done. 11. You can now open the Skype for Business client: Windows 7 Open your start menu on Chose All programs, look for Skype for Business 2016 Windows 10 Open your start menu by clicking on Look under the recently added, or search for Skype for Business on 5. april 2018 University College Nordjylland 2
3 12. When you open Skype For Business you need to type in your UCN and click Sign In 13. Type in your password and click on Sign in Password 14. When you re logged on and the Skype for Business client is open it looks like this: 5. april 2018 University College Nordjylland 3
4 B. AUDIO & VIDEO You need to verify that the audio and webcam is working, prior using the Skype for Business client. 1. Open settings and chose audio device 2. Here you need to choose which device you want to use with Skype For Business 3. Now you need to adjust the sliders to get the optimal audio experience. Speakers Here you can click the green play button and hear a test audio, then adjust the slider accordingly Microphone Speak up to test the sensitivity of your microphone, adjust the slider so the bar only fills halfway Ringtone Use the green play button to test the ringtone, use the slider to adjust the volume of the ringtone Select OK to save the settings you just made. 4. 5 5. Here you need to select which webcam you want to use with Skype for Business 6. Make sure to adjust the camera angle, so your face is centred in the preview. 7. Select Crop and centre my video during meetings this will zoom and crop the image while you re in a Skype meeting 8. Select OK to save the settings you just made. C. SKYPE MEETING When your teacher schedules the meeting, you will receive an invitation. This invitation will contain a link to the meeting. Please note that if you have accepted the invitation, the link will be saved in your UCN Outlook calendar. To join the meeting please: 1. Open Skype for Business 2. Click on the meetings tab 3. Find the meeting on the list and click Join 4. When you get this message, you must mark Use Skype for Business and Don't show again then press OK 5. The meeting should now start 6. At the bottom of the meeting windows you have a few important functions: 5. april 2018 University College Nordjylland 5

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION Invitation If you can t find the meeting invitation in your UCN webmail and calendar, please check the Meetings tab in Skype for Business. And if you can t find it here, you have to contact your teacher and ask for a new invitation. Other devices Please note that you can install Skype For Business on different devices eg. ipad/iphone or Android.
