2 About KITS Mobile 1. What is KITS Mobile? A. It is an ipad app that allows you to get out of the office and in front of your customer. KITS Mobile brings the power of The KITS collaborator to the field. It is simple to use. It has just the features you need: View all of your projects instantly, anywhere, even when you re not connected to the internet. Explore the full component list for each project. Walk your customers through your designs in beautiful, interactive 3D. Capture an Environment photograph using the ipad s built-in camera and see how your design will look in your customer s actual space. Ready to close the sale? Render any view in near photo-realistic quality and it directly to your customer. 2. Is there a free version of the KITS Mobile app? A. To try our free Standard KITS Mobile app, visit and click the Try It Free button and in no time you will be up and running! Devices 3. Does it work on all versions of ipads? A. KITS Mobile is compatible with: ipad 3, ipad 4, ipad Air, minimum of 32GB, Wi-Fi w/ Retina Display ios While an ipad 3 with 32GB of storage is adequate for using the KITS Mobile app, it is recommended to use an ipad 4 with 64GB of storage or more. Depending on the manufacturer that you primarily support, the catalogs can consume a large amount of space. The larger capacity ipad s will allow you to have all your manufacturer s catalogs available to you as well as taking advantage of the faster speeds the ipad 4 and ipad Air provides. 4. Are there differences between the various ipad models? A. Yes. 3 Licenses 5. What are the differences between a Standard and Professional version license? A. The Standard version license will allow you to take the app for a test-run. With the Standard Version, you will have access to a sample catalog, a Typicals Gallery, use custom environments and create renders that you can directly from the app. The Professional version license allows you access to all the features of the app, which include: Manufacturer Catalogs Catalog Pricing Information Sharing Projects Export Projects to AutoCAD (DXF + SIF) Create Project Quick Sheet Create Item Quick Sheets Take custom environment photos of your client s space and then: o Perform single object removal of items found in the photo o Perform floor removal remove all objects on the floor all at once o Calibrate each photo taken with your ipad camera within the app. This allows 3D objects in the scene to be placed in scale to other objects found in the environment photo. High-Quality Renders 6. What is a KITS Associate license? A. A KITS Associate license is a free professional license type that a manufacturer has provided you with for a year. 7. What happens to a KITS Associate license when it expires in a year? A. A KiSP Sales Team member will personally contact you to sign you up for your personal professional KITS Mobile edition license. 8. What happens to the projects that I created under my KITS Associate license when it expires in a year? A. You will not lose any data when you upgrade to the professional license type. 9. 4 Catalogs and Galleries 10. What is the difference between a Catalog and a Gallery? A. A Catalog is the manufacturer s catalog data that is available for download on the ipad. This includes all of the options, models and navigation. Catalogs are only available with a Professional version license. A Gallery is a collection of products that have been pre-built and specified by a manufacturer to allow you to easily begin building a project within KITS Mobile. 11. What manufacturers Catalogs are available in KITS Mobile? A. The following is a list of the manufacturer catalogs and galleries that are currently available in the KITS Mobile app: AIS (panels not available) Allsteel Evolve Global Industries Global US Global Contract Canada Gunlocke Haworth Herman Miller HON Kimball Office Knoll National Office Furniture Paoli Steelcase Inc. Teknion Please note that catalog availability is subject to the Manufacturer you are affiliated with. Downloading and Syncing 12. Do I have to download one catalog or gallery at a time? A. No. You are able to simultaneously sync - download - more than one gallery or catalog that you have subscribed to at a time. 13. Do I have to wait to download everything before I can begin using app? A. No. The SYNC process is broken down into 2 categories. It will first download only the text data portion of a catalog and/or gallery data that you have subscribed to. When it has completed the data portion, it releases your SYNC screen in the app and allows you to begin using your ipad immediately while we download all the required graphics and swatches in the background. 14. How long does it take to download the manufacturer catalogs? A. The time can fluctuate depending on how many catalogs and the size of the corresponding graphics you choose to download at one time. Large catalogs can take anywhere between 30 to 60 minutes to successfully download to the ipad. This time varies based on your internet service provider s response time, the wireless or 3G or 4G network connections you may be currently connected to. You are able to select specific catalogs to download. Downloading only one catalog at a time would decrease the download time. Page 4 of 12

5 15. How big is the manufacturer catalog update payload that I am downloading each time? A. It depends on the number of products in a catalog. For example, a catalog containing 17,000 distinct model numbers has a data size for download averaging in the range of 1.3 to 1.8 GB. 16. If I am running out of space on my ipad, how do I delete a catalog or gallery? A. To delete a catalog follow the steps below: Tap the Sync button, which brings you to the Catalog Subscription screen. Next to the catalog or gallery that you want to delete you will see an enabled radio button in blue tap the radio button to unselect the option. Tap Sync Now, it will begin syncing all projects created on the app to the web, then any manufacturer and or gallery updates available that you previously subscribed to. Then at the end of the synchronization process the app will permanently remove the unsubscribed to catalog or gallery digital assets from your ipad. 17. How do I get the monthly manufacturer catalog updates? A. A bell notification icon located on the right side of the of the navigational bar - is available to alert you of pending actions you still need to take such as: If a project share has been accepted by you, by clicking the link, but not yet synced downloaded to your ipad then the notification alert will display a value of 1 beside the bell icon. If there are any updates to subscribed galleries or catalogs then the notification alert will increment by a count of 1. Page 5 of 12

6 18. Do I need to always be connected to a Wireless Network or a 3G/4G (LTE)/Mi-Fi connection? A. No. You need to use a Wi-Fi connection when you are downloading manufacturer catalogs and/or galleries and when performing a project refresh. The chart below outlines when you can use Wi-Fi connection and when you can use a 3G/4G (LTE)/Mi-Fi connection: Action Can I use a Wi-Fi connection? Downloading manufacturer catalogs or preforming a project refresh if you have a large number of projects over a 3G/4G (LTE)/Mi-Fi can eat away at your data plan and can be quite slow! You should only download manufacturer catalogs using your Wi-Fi connection. 19. My catalogs seem to be downloading slow, what can I do? A. There can be many factors that affect your download speeds on the ipad, such as the location you are downloading from, how far away from your Wi-Fi router you are or other network conditions. If you are experiencing very slow download speeds, the following tips may help: Reboot your device and try your download again. To reboot your ipad: o Hold down the power button until the slide to power off slider shows up. o Slide the slider to the right. This will shut down your ipad. o After a few seconds, your device will turn off and your screen will go completely black. o Press the power button again for a few seconds to turn your ipad back on. o Once it is back on, try to download your catalog again. If you have an ipad that supports 3G/LTE connections, make sure that you are only downloading over Wi-Fi connection and not the devices 3G/LTE connection. Downloading over these types of connections can take some time as they are much slower than a Wi-Fi connection. In order to disable this option, launch the Settings app on your ipad and on the left-hand side, you should see a section called Cellular Data. There will be an option to turn Cellular Data OFF. This will force your device to work over Wi-Fi. Place your ipad as close as possible to your Wi-Fi router as possible. The further away from these locations you are, the weaker your signal becomes. There may also be other types of interferences, such as walls or other near-by Wi-Fi signals that can cause your connection to drop. Make sure when you are downloading the catalogs that you are not performing other functions on your ipad, meaning do not minimize the app. Let the download finish before you do anything. 7 Plug your ipad into a power source when you are downloading the catalogs so that your device does not turn off when the battery dies. This also helps run the hardware on the device more efficiently. Your ipad may be set to automatically lock the screen after a certain amount of time; this feature is called Auto-Lock. If your device enters into Auto-Lock while a catalog is downloading, your Wi-Fi connection may drop which can cause an incomplete download. To avoid this issue, set your ipad s Auto-Lock to Never. To change this: o Tap Settings o Tap General o On the right-hand side you will see an Auto-Lock section. o Tap Auto-Lock to open its settings o Tap Never Special Note about Auto-Lock and Exchange: In certain scenarios where Exchange is being used, you may not see the Never option. This is due to a policy on your company s Exchange servers that prevents the Never option from showing up. If you do not see the Never option, choose the highest value possible such as 10 or 15 minutes. This means that your device will stay active for 15 minutes, for instance, and then it will Auto- Lock itself. Check to see if your network connection is slow. You can do this by performing a basic test such as opening Safari and search for today s news in a search engine then time how long it takes for your results to load. Perform a speed test on your ipad. This will let you know how fast your connection to the internet is on your ipad. The easiest way to do this is by downloading a free speed test app onto your ipad, such as SpeedTest, and perform a test. Reset your ipad s Network Settings. This will delete and reset all your network connections (including but not limited to Wi-Fi, Cellular, etc ) on your ipad. Please note that before you attempt to reset your network settings, you should know how to reconnect your ipad to any necessary networks. If you are unsure of any of these settings, please check with your I.T. department before attempting to reset your network settings as they will be deleted. If all else fails try downloading the catalogs from a different location, such as at home or a coffee shop that has a strong Wi-Fi signal. 20. What happens to my data on my ipad if I lose internet connection during the download process? A. Do not worry. Your projects are preserved. All you need to do is restart the download process for the manufacturer catalogs. Go to the Sync > Catalog Subscription screen within the app, subscribe to any manufacturer catalogs you wish to download and select the Sync Now button located at the top right of the navigation bar. The catalog data will be downloaded again and only the graphics that were not previously downloaded will be copied down to your ipad. Page 7 of 12

8 Projects 21. Can I rename a project on the ipad? A. Yes. Once you are within the project tap the name of the project, top center of the header bar. You are presented with a flashing blue line that looks like this: Tap once anywhere along the existing project name where you want to modify it and start typing. To bring up the Select and Paste function, press anywhere on the project name for at least a second. 22. How do I save a project? A. To save a project you are currently working on, tap the Projects button in the upper-right hand side of the screen. You will receive a prompt asking you if you want to save your project. 23. Can I make a copy of an existing project on my ipad? A. Yes. From within the Project Scroll screen select the duplicate function. It is located on the bottom left of the white photo frame. 24. Can I delete projects within the KITS Mobile APP? A. Yes. You can delete projects from within the Project Scroll screen by tapping the garbage can icon. It is located on the bottom right of the white photo frame. 25. How do I sort my projects? A. By utilizing the Switch View button on the top left-hand side of the screen, you can switch between the Project Scroll view and the Project Grid View: In the Project Grid View you can sort your projects by Most Recent, which will show you the latest project created on your ipad, or by Name which will sort your projects alphabetically. You can also search for your projects by entering the name (or a few words that maybe contained in the project name) of your project in the Search Box. Page 8 of 12

9 26. Can I sync projects between my ipad and The KITS collaborator web site? A. Yes. Go to the SYNC screen and tap the SYNC NOW button. This will upload all projects you have created on the ipad up to your KITS collaborator web account. The Sync function will also download any new projects you published to the mobile format in The KITS collaborator web site to your ipad. This action will also delete any mobile format projects from your ipad that were deleted directly within your KITS collaborator web account. Sharing 27. Can I share a project with someone else? A. Yes. To share a project you have created with another user, use the Share Project button located in the bottom left-hand corner of the project you wish to share: You will be prompted to enter an address, as well as some optional notes. Please note that the Share Project feature will only work with another registered KITS Mobile user. 28. Does the person I originally shared a project with get notified if I make any changes to the project in question? A. No. Once you share the project with someone, and they accept the share by clicking the hyperlink in the they received, it creates a brand new project under their own personal account. Each project is distinct. If you make changes to the original project on the app you need to send another Share Project notification for the modified project. If accepted by the user, the modified project becomes a new project under their personal account. Renderings 29. How long does it take to render a project? A. The times vary depending on the type of ipad you use, the number of items in your project, how zoomed in you or in the scene and the rendering quality you ve selected. The list below is the average time it takes to produce a render: Good Quality: 30 seconds to 1 minute Better Quality: 1 to 3 minutes Best Quality: Upwards of 5+ minutes Page 9 of 12

10 30. Where are my renderings saved? A. You can review all previous renderings you have created for a particular project by tapping HD Render > View previous renderings in the project. Additionally, you can tap Export > Copy to Photo Library when your rendering has completed which will export your rendering to your Photos app on your ipad. 31. How can I share a rendering? A. To share a rendering once it has been generated, tap Export > which will open your onboard client on the app as a New Message window allowing you to enter an address. To share a rendering you have previously created, open the project and tap HD Render > View previous renderings. Tap the rendering you want to share and then tap Export > . Environment Backgrounds 32. How can I take a picture of an environment? A. In your project, tap the Environment button. Tap the New Photo button which will launch the camera. When taking a picture of an environment you should be holding your ipad 5 feet from the floor with your arms straight out. The app will tell if you are not level by directing you to tilt either left or right. Once you are ready to take your picture, tap the camera button. 33. How do I remove an object from a custom environment? A. Once you have taken your custom environment tap the Erase an object button on the top right hand side of the screen. Using your finger, select the area that you want to remove. Note that only the area you select will be used. If you do not connect all the sides of your shape, only your selection will be erased: Page 10 of 12

11 34. Can I reuse an environment I ve already taken? A. Yes. In any project, tap the Environment button and then the Projects button located at the bottom of the screen. You will see all of the default environments you have previously taken. Tap a Project folder and then tap the environment photo you wish to use. The selected environment displays in the Preview screen. Tap Use. The environment photo is copied to your existing project you are currently in. 35. Can I import my own image into the environments? A. No. You need to use the built-in camera in the KITS Mobile app to take environments. A regular image that was not taken with the KITS Mobile app will not have the correct geometric information required for use with the app. AutoCAD Export 36. Can I export my project to an AutoCAD file? A. Yes. The KITS Mobile app generates a DXF file that can be opened in AutoCAD and can be used alongside other specification programs such as 2020 CAP, GIZA or Project Matrix. In order to export these files, tap Export AutoCAD (DXF+SIF) button: This will launch a New Message window which includes a ZIP file containing the DXF & SIF file inside of the archive. 37. Can I import an AutoCAD file? A. Yes, in conjunction with your The KITS collaborator web account, you can import a DWG file that was authored in 2020 CAP, GIZA, Z-Axis or Project Matrix. Once you have imported and created your project based on your DWG and published the project to a mobile format tap the Sync button then the Sync Now button. Your project based on your DWG will now be downloaded onto your ipad. Please note that in order to see the options, finishes, fabrics and pricing you will need to have the associated catalogs downloaded onto your ipad. Quick Sheets 38. What is a Quick Sheet? A. A Quick Sheet allows you to create a sell sheet to which you can add different types of information such as option/finishes, pricing and notes. A Quick Sheet can be created for each project by tapping Create Quick Sheet from the drop-down menu, or for an individual item from within the Edit Item screen by tapping Quick Sheet. Page 11 of 12

12 User Account 39. Do I have to log into the KITS Mobile app every time? A. No. You are prompted to enter your User Id and Password just once. The very first time you install the app or reinstall it on your ipad. 40. How do I know which account is currently logged in on the KITS Mobile app? A. Go to Settings > Apps > KITS Mobile to view the User Info. 41. Can I change my password on the KITS Mobile app? A. No. You have to change your user password directly on The KITS collaborator web site. Go to If you have forgotten what your password is go to: Once you have changed your password on The KITS collaborator web site, you also need to change the password on the ipad. Go to Settings > Apps >KITS Mobile. In the User Info section, update the password. The same password needs to be used. 42. Can multiple users use the same ipad? A. No. When you first register to use the KITS Mobile app, your credentials User Id that is your address are registered in The KITS collaborator database. Note: If you switch from one user account to another user account on the same ipad, you will first need to delete the app from the ipad, and then re-install it from the Apple App Store. Backups 43. Is the KITS Mobile App backed up? A. No. You are responsible in configuring your ipad to back up the KITS Mobile app to either your itunes desktop or to your personal icloud account. 44. Are both the manufacturer catalog data and my projects backed up? A. Only your projects, high definition renderings and environment photos are backed up to either your itunes desktop or to you personal icloud account. Page 12 of 12
