2 QUESTION 1: (25 MARKS) ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS (a) Explain the main difference between an SMTP mail service and a POP3 mail service. (b) Describe two characteristics for each of the following image format: (i) GIF (ii) JPG. Write fragment of HTML codes to create the following: (i) a thumbnail (ii) an Inline frame (iii) opening a link in a new browser window with the back button disabled. (d) HTML5 introduced a new set of mark-ups. Explain any three new Structural elements used in HTML5. (3 marks) Page 2 of 7

3 (e) Write appropriate codes to create the following HTML5 Form: (add relevant attributes where applicable) Note: No formatting required. (10 marks) QUESTION 2: (25 MARKS) (a) List the minimum line of codes required in order to include and start using Bootstrap in an HTML Document. Page 3 of 7

4 (b) Knowing the benefits of responsive websites, a client contracts you to turn his existing HTML5 website into a responsive one. The wireframe is as follows: Use Bootstrap 3 classes and HTML5 structural tags to convert the website using the large grid system only. The requirements are as follows: (i) Row 1: equally divided (ii) Row 2: left hand side 8 units, a 1 unit offset and right hand side 3 units (iii) Row 3: extends across the page. (12 marks) List and explain any two ways how the Position property is used in CSS3. (d) One of the major problems faced by web designers when dealing with boxes, padding and margin is size dimensions. What will happen to the size of a box of width 300px when a padding of 20px and a margin of 40px are applied? (padding:20px; margin:40px). Give one solution to the above problem. 5 QUESTION 3: (25 MARKS) (a) What are the advantages of using jquery over standard JavaScript in your web application? (b) Write JavaScript codes to: (i) assign a variable name a value of Hello World, and print that variable s contents to the console (ii) convert the string 20 to an integer, such that = 40 (iii) display the odd numbers between 1 and 100 which are divisible by 7. (3 marks) Assume that you are creating a new array called birds (i) How do you declare a new empty array? (ii) How do you declare a new array with space allotted for 4 elements? (iii) How do you declare a new array containing the names of 4 birds: sparrow, hummingbird, eagle, crow (iv) Write a loop that prints out all of the elements in birds.
