5 windream 6.5 What s New? 1 windream 6.5 What s New? Introduction This documentation describes the new features of windream version 6.5. The following new features have been added since the previous version 6.0: New windream Sidebar as a multi-functional tool in the form of an ECM cockpit; Find function with enhanced options, for example for search operations across document fulltexts; Top-modern REST architecture used by the windream Web Services; windream configuration module adjusted to the Windows 10 look & feel. The new Sidebar in windream 6.5 The new windream version 6.5 offers a newly developed Sidebar. This Sidebar has been designed as a desktop application and serves as a central Cockpit for document management, for workflows and for all tasks related to ECM-specific document management and business processes. The Sidebar can be adjusted to individual user requirements. This offers enormous advantages, since the Sidebar as a digital command center allows users to carry out typical document management processes and business workflows via a single, clearly structured interface. 6 2 windream 6.5 What s New? The windream Sidebar a Detailed Overview The functions of the Sidebar are represented by so-called tiles. Among other things, the Sidebar in windream 6.5 allows users to select documents and to place them in a so-called Drag Zone for a convenient indexing and archiving in windream. Individual collections of documents, such as My Documents and business workflows such as My BPM Tasks can be displayed and processed as tiles. Further features include the direct launching of search operations, the display of meta-data for selected documents and thumbnails, the launching of windream BPM workflows, a list view of the most recently processed documents, the launching of third-party applications and a subscription management function. The Sidebar: Advantages for Users The Sidebar allows windream users and administrators to integrate further ECM functions and to adjust these functions to the individual requirements of their company. This offers enormous advantages, since the new windream Sidebar keeps frequently used, standard ECM and BPM tasks directly accessible on the desktop of any desired windream workstation computer. The Sidebar already contains a number of preconfigured tiles for launching various functions and applications. Find Function with Enhanced Convenience The windream find function now offers new options and enhanced convenience. The Navigator search or Smart Search Navigator introduced with windream 6.0 has been complemented by new details and options. Displaying the Document Stock of a Tree Structure The find function can now display the document stock of windream systems as the familiar list view or as a tree view analogously to the Windows Explorer. The tree view supports file operations such as drag & drop and the execution of windream-specific context menu items.

7 windream 6.5 What s New? 3 List of the document stock of a windream drive in the search application In windream 6.5, the user can view the document stock and browse the contents of a windream drive, even if the windream drive is currently not connected to the windream workstation computer (Client). New Features for Fulltext Searches Searches for character strings in document fulltexts can now not only consider the document contents, but also the contents of annotations. If the system finds a search term in one or several annotations, the documents associated with these annotations will be displayed in the result list. This is also the case if the search term is only found in the annotation, and not in the associated document. windream find function: include annotations

The Next Generation of the windream Web Services with REST Architecture The new generation of the windream Web Services uses the topmodern REST technology (REST = Representational State Transfer). In the context of the windream ECM system, this technology is used to allow a platform-independent access to the windream system, for example via mobile end devices or via the windream Mobile Apps. The JavaScript Object Notation Format JSON Based on the REST technology, the windream Web Services in windream version 6.5 and higher use the JavaScript Object Notation format (JSON) to display resources and contents. JSON is a lightweight format for the digital transfer of data.

9 windream 6.5 What s New? 5 Visually Enhanced Configuration Module The configuration module in windream 6.5 has been enhanced visually, for an even more convenient handling. The layout and the display have been adjusted to the look & feel of the most recent Microsoft operating system version Windows 10. The windream 6.5 configuration module Plug-In Concept for Third-Party Applications Furthermore, the configuration module now contains an optimized grouping of all available options and offers a plug-in concept. This plug-in concept allows users to integrate third-party windream interfaces into the windream configuration module. The module is an efficient tool for the configuration of any desired windream interface. Of course, client-specific settings, such as the windream BPM Client or windream Exchange Client settings, can still be configured outside of the windream configuration module.
