1 Prosurv LLC Presents An Enterprise-Level Geo-Spatial Data Visualizer Signing-In If you re an Admin user, such as an Executive, Manager, or Human Resources (HR) member, you will see the following screen when you sign in: The buttons you see may be different, based on your assigned Role with the Company. If you re a Customer, Operator, or Staff member, you won t see the Admin screen at all. Instead, as soon as you sign in, you ll be taken directly to the Overview page, where you can click on any existing project (which then takes you into the Project Viewer screen). Two Viewers has two main Viewers. The first Viewer is the Overview page. The second Viewer is the Project Viewer page, which zooms into the site that you clicked on when you were in the Overview screen. Page 1

2 Depending on your Role and its permissions levels, certain menu items may or may not be available to you. Managers and Executives can access all of the menu items on the two viewer pages. However, Operators, Customers, Staff, and HR, will not have access to certain items. Manage Projects At the heart of everything you do in, is the idea of setting up and maintaining different Projects. Whether you re a single user, or a world -wide, enterprise-level Company, you will create, maintain, and delete Projects. Each Project is a separate site a different geographic location, with different data points. Everything you do, from uploading files, to processing file data, to selecting line-types and point-types, is all done within a project. So, let s take a look at the all-important Manage Projects screen Page 2

3 From the Overview screen, click on the Manage Projects menu item. At the top of the page, you'll see the name of the Company that you re working for. Also shown is your name, and your Role permissions. To create a new project, simply fill in as many of the blue boxes as desired. Of course, the most important box is the Project Name box. Try to be sure that the project name isn t already being used. If you re a single user, then you won t have any Customers. However, you could think of Customers as Friends, instead. These are people who you want to have access to viewing your Geo-Spatial data. You can actually create a person, have them sign in, and then let them view only the projects that you want them to view! Most of the Entry boxes shown above, are self-explanatory. However, some could use some further explanation: Project Start Date/End Date Text Boxes Click the Select text at the top right of both the Start Date and End Date boxes. This will display a calendar for you to select a date. Page 3

4 Project Coordinates are Latitude and Longitude Click inside the box to toggle between Yes and No. A Yes means that you know that any files that you upload for this project remember the only way that data gets into your project (at this time), is when you upload and process a file contain Latitude and Longitude data. GPX files always contain Latitude and Longitude coordinates. So, when uploading and processing GPX files, you never have to worry about state plane or UTM coordinates, and, you don t have to worry about selecting the Units or Decimal Degrees, either. That s because GPX files Latitude/Longitude data is always in Decimal Degrees format, and the elevation data is always in meters. A No means that you know that any files that you upload for this project, will have rectangular coordinates, instead. While Latitude and Longitude are spherical coordinates, rectangular coordinates, such as the United States of America s State Plane Coordinate system, or UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator) can also be used. Setting this field to No tells the project that all of the incoming data files will be rectangular coordinates. Which Customer is this Project For? Single users shouldn t worry about this selection. However, if you are working for or own a small, medium, or large business, you re probably being hired to do this project. The person or company hiring you, is your Customer. So this is where you can fill in your Customer information. In the future, Prosurv GeoSpace DataViz may allow you to create custom reports. When this time comes, the reports will be geared to include data about your Customer. If you don t select a Customer at this time (when creating a project), the Customer field will default to Default. Default simply means You (your Company). Create a Project Once you ve filled out all of the boxes (you can leave some empty), click the Create Project button to actually create your new project. Page 4

5 Use the Erase all Boxes button to clear all the textboxes. This makes it easier to create another Project. Edit an Existing Project If you need to edit a Project or make any changes to a Project, first, select the existing project from the Projects dropdown selector. Then, edit the desired boxes (make your changes), and finally, hit the Update Project button. Your Project Data If all of your project data comes from GPX files, then you ve got nothing to worry about. GPX files always contain Latitude and Longitude data. However, if you ll be uploading text files, such as *.txt or *.csv (Comma Separated Values), then you ll need to tell exactly what type of coordinate data is being uploaded. Coordinates are either Spherical (Latitude/Longitude) or Rectangular (State Plane or UTM). If your coordinates are rectangular, i.e. NOT latitude and longitude, then you must click in the Project Coordinates are Latitude and Longitude box. This will toggle the selection to NO. Then, you must select the options from the 3 dropdown boxes, shown here above. Page 5

6 If your coordinates are UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator), then you must select UTM from the first dropdown selection box. Then, you need to select the UTM zone from the second dropdown selection box: If your coordinates are State Plane Coordinates, then you need to select the State and Zone from the second and third dropdown selection boxes: Note that some states only have one zone, while others, like California, have six or more zones. Be sure to select the appropriate zone for your project s coordinates. Once you ve set your rectangular coordinate zone selections, be sure to hit the Create Project (if you haven t already created it) button, or the Update Project button. To delete a project, select the project from the dropdown selection box. Then hit the Delete Project button. There is no undo to this action at this time, and there s no confirmation question. So, be careful! This action will delete everything inside that project, including line definitions, lines, and all the points for that project. Back Finally, click the Back menu item to return to the Overview page. You re now ready for Part III! Page 6
