3 Getting Started - Sync Plays From Your Computer If you have already been using FastDraw on your desktop or laptop to create plays, but are just getting started on FastDraw ipad, your first step will be to Sync your ipad with your Desktop library. This process starts, if you haven t done so already, by clicking the Sync icon within your FastDraw Desktop software. When you click the Sync icon, you will see the Sync to Cloud menu appear. Use the Note section to add a note about your Sync, such as what computer you are saving from, and what plays or sets have been added to your library. This will help identify the file on our server. Now that you have Synced your FastDraw file, open the FastDraw ipad app, click the gear icon to open the Settings menu, and then click Login/Register. Enter your account address at the first screen, and then your password (which is the same password that you use to login at the FastModel Sports website) to log in. If you do not remember your password, you can request for it to be reset at the Login screen. After you have successfully logged in, your FastDraw app will automatically search for an updated Sync file and download the file to your ipad. FastDraw Basketball ipad User Guide 2

4 Manually Syncing Your ipad If you already activated your FastDraw ipad app prior to saving a Sync file from your computer, don t worry, you can manually perform a Sync at any time. To begin this process, open the Settings menu and select the Sync button. After selecting Sync, you will be prompted to add a Note for your Sync file, just like on FastDraw Desktop. 5 Click Sync in the upper right corner when you are finished. The following processes will now happen: 1. The plays on your ipad will be uploaded to the cloud server, and added to your existing file on the cloud if one already exists, otherwise a new file will be created. 2. Once the upload is complete, FastDraw will check to see if any plays from the existing file need to be download to your ipad, such as plays that you created from your computer. If so, these plays will be downloaded and added to your local ipad library. FastDraw ipad Features Now let s look at some of the features in the FastDraw ipad app. If this is your first time using the app, now is a good time to take a brief tour through the Tutorial. This can be accessed by tapping the question mark icon in the bottom right corner. The tutorial will help with the basic action of drawing a play in a FastDraw and understanding the layout of the app. Here we will cover some of the additional features available in FastDraw. 6 Delete Frame The Delete Frame icon can be used to delete any frame within the current play. To accomplish this, tap on the frame that you would like to delete to highlight it, and then tap the Delete Frame icon. This will bring up a menu allowing you to confirm your delete. 7 Add Frame The default number of frames for a play in the FastDraw app is 4 frames. Clicking the Add Frame icon will add an additional frame to your play. FastBuild FastBuild is one of the best time-saving features in the program to get familiar with. FastBuild takes the actions that you have diagrammed in the current frame and advances the action to the next frame. If, in your first frame the 1 passes to the 2 and cuts to the corner, tapping the FastBuild icon will automatically place 1 in the corner and give 2 the ball. FastDraw Basketball ipad User Guide 6

8 Draw Tab The Draw and Move tabs are covered in detail in the tutorial. In brief, when the Draw tab is clicked, all finger motions within the diagram will either place a player on the court, or draw an action line. Move Tab When the Move tab is activated, no drawing can take place within the diagram. Only the current players and lines on the court can be moved and adjusted. These adjustments take place by tapping and holding the green dots to move them around the diagram. FastDraw Basketball ipad User Guide 7

9 Undo, Redo, and Erase The Undo button will undo your latest action or item added to the diagram. Redo will add back or redo anything removed or undone using the Undo button. Erase will erase everything within the current frame, leaving a blank diagram. Miscellaneous Stencils The miscellaneous stencils icon can be tapped to reveal all of the additional stencils that are available within FastDraw. Tapping any of the icons will add that stencil to the court, and you will automatically be placed in the Move tab to adjust its location. By tapping the A stencil, you can add text to your diagram, and the Edit Text menu will open automatically. FastDraw Basketball ipad User Guide 8

10 Edit Frame Menu Clicking the Edit Frame icon will open the Edit Frame menu, allowing you to edit the Frame Label, change the court layout, and add a Frame Description to the frame. The frame description will appear underneath the frame when the play is printed or shared, and will also display underneath the frame when viewed on the desktop software. 11 Edit Play Menu Clicking the Edit Play icon will open the Edit Play menu. From the Edit Play menu, you can edit the Play Name, the Season, Team, and Series categories, and modify the court properties. You also have the ability to add Play Notes for the play. The Play Notes can only be accessed from the Edit Play menu, and they do not print when you print a play out. Any notes that you would like to include in a printout should be included in the Frame Description. FastDraw Basketball ipad User Guide 10

12 Share Button The share button allows you to share a play via , Twitter, Facebook, or gives you the ability to Print the play via AirPrint. The most commonly used share method is , which allows you to send plays to other coaches or players, or you can a play to yourself. If your FastDraw ipad library ever gets out of sync with your desktop library and you need to transfer just a few plays, ing yourself is a great way to retrieve your plays. From the screen, you can enter multiple recipients separated by commas, and include a personal message that will be included in the body of the . FastDraw Basketball ipad User Guide 11

13 Play Viewer The Play Viewer gives you the ability to view your full play in sequence, showing all of the frames at one time. You can open the Play Viewer by tapping the icon in the top right corner, and then exit the Play Viewer by tapping the icon again. FastDraw Basketball ipad User Guide 12

14 Settings Menu Here are a few useful items from the Settings menu. Drawing Defaults This menu allows you to set defaults for the players and lines added to the diagram. The current defaults for adding players is 1-5, and the stencils are always black. You can modify these defaults to automatically add different numbers or names for the players you are adding, and you can also set a different color as the default other than black. The default color for each of the different kinds of lines can also be changed. FastDraw Basketball ipad User Guide 13

15 PlayBank With your FastDraw ipad subscription, you receive exclusive access to the FastDraw PlayBank. In addition to containing all of the plays that you see on our Play Library website, which is open to the public, the PlayBank contains Premium plays and drills contributed to FastModel by professional and college coaches. Any plays within the PlayBank can be added directly into your FastDraw library and saved. FastDraw Basketball ipad User Guide 14

16 About The About menu allows you to view important information about your app and your account. This information includes which version of the FastDraw ipad app you are using, and also indicates your account address and your account expiration date. FastDraw Basketball ipad User Guide 15

17 Logout The Logout menu allows you to log out of and deactivate your ipad app. Logging out of the app will delete any plays that you have saved locally on your ipad, so you should not take this step unless you have Synced your plays to the FastModel cloud server, or if you have ed your created plays to your own address. 18 My Plays Menu When you create or import plays into FastDraw, they are added to the My Plays section of the app. My plays is where your Play Library is stored and can be sorted to load any play of your choosing. The My Plays menu can be accessed by clicking the My Plays tab on the left side. From the My Plays menu, you can sort your library by Season, Team, or Series. FastDraw Basketball ipad User Guide 17

19 The plays in your library will also have the Season, Team, and Series listed. The additional options available from the My Plays menu include an additional link to the PlayBank, a search box to search for an item in your library, and the tabs at the top to toggle between My Plays and the FastTrade Inbox. 20 FastTrade Inbox Any plays or drills that you receive from other FastDraw users, download from the FastModel Play Library website, or download from the PlayBank will be available to import from the Inbox tab at the top of the My Plays menu. Within the Inbox tab, there are 3 additional tabs for Subscriptions, Received, and Sent. The Subscriptions tab is where you will receive the FastModel Plays of the Week if you are signed up, and you can also sign up there if you would like to receive them. The Sent tab is where you can keep track of the plays that you have ed to other users, and the Received tab is where your incoming FastTrades and downloads will be located. In the Received tab, your plays will be listed, and each play will display a download icon to the right of it. FastDraw Basketball ipad User Guide 19

21 Clicking the download icon will give you the option to download the play to your library, and also delete the play from your inbox. FastDraw Basketball ipad User Guide 20
