1. INTRODUCTION The Reynaers U-tool software calculates the U-values of windows, doors, sliding doors and curtain walls. In this tool one has a selection of various Reynaers systems, profile combination and model configurations. By selecting the correct one and adjusting parameters to meet those of the project, one can get the Uw (window), Ud (door) or Ucw (curtain wall). All calculations are done according to the following standards: EN ISO :2006 and EN ISO :2012 for windows, doors and sliding doors EN ISO 12631:2012 for curtain walls (component and single assessment method) 1.1 Possibilities The U-tool is a web-based software for easy calculation of U-values. It is available in Dutch, English and French. It is possible for users to manage their own projects and safely store them online. Each project can contain different configurations giving the user more flexibility. An overall U-value can also be calculated for all project configurations. A report can be created just by one click. The configurations that will appear in the report can be selected. 1.2 Where to find it On Reynaers extranet, at TOOLS you will find U-tool. By clicking on it, you will be redirected to the Reynaers U-tool page. User manual of 17/06/2016 pag. 4/40

3.4 Curtain wall SC and SG Choosing a model There are also SC or SG systems in the curtain wall models that have Utj-values** instead of Uf-values. These systems can be found in the dropdown list of the curtain wall systems. The starting procedure is exactly the same as in 3.3. Step 1 First fill in the grid size and then click on continue. The maximum size for the grid is 5x Model tab When selecting one of the SG or SC systems, you get the below screen. In this tab you can fill in the width and height of the element. ** Utj-values represent the heat flow through the filling element (glazing/panel), the thermal joint (frame) and the edge effect due to the interaction between the filling element and the thermal joint. This means that the ψ-value has been taken into account in the thermal transmittance calculations User manual of 17/06/2016 pag. 25/40
3.4.3 Profile tab In this tab you can select the mullion and transom profiles. You can also see the details about the profile that is selected in the image Glass tab The glass tab is different in the SG and SC systems. Here you must select a specific type of glass, a specific glass composition and Ug value and the type of spacer. User manual of 17/06/2016 pag. 26/40
Restriction of curtain wall model: 1. Transoms are always in line for one configuration A solution to this restriction is to separate them into multiple configuration, like in the image below. 2. In the SC and SG curtain wall systems, only fixed glazing elements can be calculated. Opening parts cannot be inserted to the model. User manual of 17/06/2016 pag. 27/40

3.5.3 Door tab In the door tab, the door type and the door opening type can be selected. When selecting a profile system in the Model tab, some systems (e.g. Masterline 8) give an error (below image). This happens because the default door type is a flat door and the default door opening type is inward opening. However, in some systems only window doors are available, so when selecting those systems before selecting a door type, you will get an error. If this error occurs, go first to the Door tab and select the correct window door type or opening type and then go back to the Model tab and select the system. User manual of 17/06/2016 pag. 30/40
3.5.4 Profile tab In the profile tab, the lengths of individual profiles can be changed by clicking on each profile in the image. Furthermore, the desired outer frame and transom profiles can be selected. On selection, all data concerning the selected profile appears. User manual of 17/06/2016 pag. 31/40
3.5.5 Bottom solution In the Bottom solution tab, the bottom solution used can be selected. By clicking on the bottom profile in the model, you get redirected to the Bottom solution tab and the various available bottom solutions are shown. There are images so that the correct one can be selected. By clicking on the image of the bottom solution, it gets selected and those parameters are used in the calculation. The length of the bottom profile can also be changed here. The other profiles lengths get adjusted automatically. User manual of 17/06/2016 pag. 32/40
3.5.6 Glass tab The procedure to set the glass parameters is the same as in the previous examples. The user can change the parameters of all glass in the model by using the default values, or change each glass individually by changing parameters by clicking on the glass. User manual of 17/06/2016 pag. 33/40
3.5.7 Panel tab Like in the case of a window calculation, a panel can be selected for one or all of the door panes. The same procedure as in the windows needs to be followed. Step 1 Select the glass you want to change. Step 2 Change type to panel. Step 3 Go to panel tab. Step 4 Fill in default panel values or change the properties of the selected panel. User manual of 17/06/2016 pag. 34/40
3.6 CS 77-Panel door / CS 86-HI-Panel door / CS86-HI+-Panel door This chapter covers the procedure that should be followed when calculating the Ud values of the Reynaers CS 77-Panel Door, CS 86-HI-Panel Door and CS 86-HI+-Panel Door systems. The profiles of systems CS 77-Panel Door, CS 86-HI-Panel Door and CS 86-HI+-Panel Door can be found in Chapter All steps are as in chapter 3.5. However, the CS 77-Panel door, CS 86-HI-Panel door and CS 86- HI+-Panel door systems are only available for door model 301, so when selecting any other model, these systems will not be present in the dropdown list. In the door tab, some specific steps need to be followed. In chapter these steps can be seen Choosing a model Step 1 Select door model 301. User manual of 17/06/2016 pag. 35/40
3.6.2 Door tab In this tab you can select a panel. You can also select the door type and the door opening type. Step 1 Click on the area of the glazing/panel and select Panel from the dropdown list. Step 2 Select door type and door opening type. User manual of 17/06/2016 pag. 36/40
Step 3 Fill in the Up-value of the panel. Step 4 Select Free entry as a spacer type and leave the ψ value 0.00 W/mK. *** *** a. If leaving spacer as None the ψ-value of an aluminium spacer is used and a wrong U d will be calculated. b. In the case of the CS 77-Panel Door, CS 86-HI-Panel Door and CS 86-HI+-Panel Door systems the U-tool takes into account a U tj -value and not a U f -value. The U tj -value represents the heat flow through the filling element (panel), the thermal joint (frame) and the edge effect due to the interaction between the filling element and the thermal joint. This means that the ψ-value has been taken into account in the thermal transmittance calculations. Thus, when calculating the thermal transmittance of a door that consists of these profiles, a ψ-value equal to 0.00 W/mK must be taken. User manual of 17/06/2016 pag. 37/40
