BEFORE YOU START In addition to learning how to use our platform, you will also need to integrate with AOL. Follow the instructions below to provide access. 01
ADD A NEW USER 1. Go to the Menu in the top left corner of the UI and select Users and then click Add User next to the Search bar 2. Enter the user s full name, title, (required), phone, username (required) and password (required) Note: New users will be asked to change their password upon log-in 3. A block group allows you to set-up categories and advertiser domains that you want to block and save them to use across all of your apps or sites. 1. Click Add New in the menu at the top left corner of the UI 2. Give your Block Group a name 3. Select the IAB Categories you wish to block, either Tier 1 or Tier 2 4. Add Advertiser Domains to block if you wish 5. Click Save This group will be available for you to use across all of your placements and apps or sites. Tip: We recommend blocking at the top level domain to capture all sub-domains 02
CREATE APPLICATION / SITE Upon entering ONE by AOL: Mobile, you ll see an empty dashboard at the top of the page and two empty tabs below: 1. To create an Application or Site, click on the Add Application / Site button in the Applications and Sites tab 2. Enter the Name of your app or site, a general Description and the Type 3. Enter the App Store URL (ios/ Android) or Website URL (Mobile Web). If you chose ios or Android, you can define which devices your app covers (phone, tablet, or a universal application, (phone and tablet) 4. Enter the Domain Name of your company 5. If your property is an app, you will need to enter the App Store ID Note: The Android App Store ID can be found in your package name between id= and &hl=en. The ios App Store ID can be found in the itunes URL between id and?mt=8 Note 1.1: These IDs are sent to buyers on the bid request, which allows us to effectively monetize your inventory Note 1.2: If you don t have an App Store URL yet, please reach out to your Account Manager 6. If your site or app is targeted at children, toggle YES next to the question, Is Site/App directed to children? 7. Choose up to four categories (either Tier 1 or Tier 2) that represent the content of your site or application. These will allow ONE by AOL: Mobile buyers to target your application accordingly Now that you have created an app or site, we ll walk through the steps to create a placement. For this example, we ll go through setting up a placement for an app. The process is the same for mobile web with slight setting variations. 03
CREATE PLACEMENT 1. Click Save and Add Placement after creating your new App/Site 2. Enter the Name of your Placement ID and choose the Placement We ll walk through the settings for each placement type below: BANNER: 1. Choose a Display Location 2. Define whether or not Rich Media is allowed Tip: We highly recommend enabling Rich Media for banner, interstitial and medium rectangle placements as these units tend to deliver higher CPMs and drive revenue 3. Specify the Ad Size or leave as a dynamic size Tip: The Dynamic Size allows buyers to select the best ad size for the device type INTERSTITIAL: 1. Choose the Allowed Ad Formats, whether Static Images, Video, or both Tip: We highly recommend enabling Video for interstitials as these units tend to deliver higher CPMs and drive revenue. Enabling both Image and Video will maximize CPM and revenue 2. Define whether or not Rich Media is allowed 3. Specify the Ad Size 04
MEDIUM RECTANGLE: 1. Choose Display Location 2. Define whether or not Rich Media is allowed NATIVE: 1. Your integration will dictate how the native unit is displayed, so no additional selections are required for this placement type IN-STREAM VIDEO: 1. Choose your Video Settings according to your in-stream video player or primary monetization SDK and pick your Ad Size Once you have entered all the necessary information for your placement, click Save And Add Exchange > ONE by AOL: Mobile Marketplace. Next, we ll go through the steps of setting up this type of demand source using a banner placement. CREATE ONE BY AOL: MOBILE MARKETPLACE DEMAND SOURCE 1. Click Add Ad Source and choose Millennial Media Exchange Figure Name your Ad Source and enter your desired Floor Price Note: If you would like to test your placements, you can select Test Ad Source from the Add Ad Source menu. The Test Ad Source will fill at 100% and should be un-deployed once testing is complete. To un-deploy, drag Test Ad Source to the Unassigned column 3. From the Creative tab, define the accepted ad size for this demand source, which can either be inherited from what you defined at the placement, or defined explicitly here Figure
4. From the Targeting tab, you can choose to target all countries or implement country-level geo-targeting or block specific countries. You can also target or block specific devices, OS versions, Wi-Fi, and carriers Tip: If you have a diverse geoprofile, we recommend creating two demand sources with separate floors - one for Major Markets (USA, Canada, Western Europe, Australia, etc.) and one for ROW. This will allow you to geographically yield optimize 5. On the Bidders tab, you can choose to allow all bidders or select specific bidders (Also known as a Whitelist) to bid on your inventory 6. To allow all bidders, select Allow All Bidders 7. If you would like to allow specific buyers access to bid on your inventory, click on Select Specific Bidders and select Allow from the drop-down menu You can select bidders a few different ways. For now, let s individually add bidders. Start typing a bidder s name in the Search Bar and click on the bidder to add it. Add additional bidders if you d like and click Save when done Note: The other way to add or block bidders is utilizing our Groups feature. As this is a robust feature, we won t go into it in this guide Figure 1.3 You can also choose to block specific bidders from bidding on your inventory. To do this, click on Select Specific Bidders. Leave Block selected in the drop-down menu. As with selecting bidders, you can block bidders several ways. For now, let s select individual bidders using the Search functionality. Click Save once you ve finished selecting bidders Figure
8. When you click the Blocking tab, you ll be able to add the Block Group we created earlier. To add this group, click where it says Select Groups and you will be able to select the group. You can also choose to block additional categories or domains for this ad source. Now that we ve successfully created a Millennial Media Exchange demand source, we ll walk through the steps to create a Millennial Media Network demand source. Note: You can create a copy of any demand source. To do so, click on the Down arrow next to the demand source and select Copy. You will be able to choose the Site or App and Placement to which you want to copy this demand source and edit the attributes CREATE MILLENNIAL MEDIA NETWORK DEMAND SOURCE 1. Go back to the Banner Placement and click Add Ad Source and choose Millennial Media Network 2. Name your Ad Source and enter your APID Note: Your APIDs can be found in mmedia within the Apps & Sites tab next to each Placement 3. If you choose to set your own ecpm, then turn on ecpm Override Tip: Generally, we do not recommend using ecpm override as this is the information that feeds into the algorithm to allocate ad requests. It s best to set up your reporting credentials to import revenue information to allow the algorithm to decision off of real data, rather than a statically defined ecpm 4. Set your Ad Size by either inheriting from the Placement Setting or setting a Custom Ad Size 5. From the Targeting tab, you can choose to target all countries or implement country-level geo-targeting or block specific countries. You can also target or block specific devices, OS versions, Wi-Fi, and carriers 6. Click Save 07
Note: You can create a copy of any demand source with the exception of AOL-owned Mediation tags. To copy a demand source, click on the Down arrow next to the demand source and select Copy. You will be able to choose the Site or App and Placement to which you want to copy this demand source and edit the attributes One by AOL: Mobile is integrated with several mediation partners. If you would like to create a connection to one of our partners, we ll guide you through how to do that below. CREATE MEDIATION AD SOURCE 1. Go back to the Banner Placement and click Add Ad Source and choose Mediation Ad Source 2. Select your desired Ad Source from the drop-down menu and name it 3. Enter the Required ID for your chosen mediation buyer 4. If you choose to set your own ecpm, then turn on ecpm Override Tip: Generally, we do not recommend using ecpm override as this is the information that feeds into the algorithm to allocate ad requests. It is best to set up your reporting credentials to import revenue information to allow the algorithm to decision off of real data, rather than a statically defined ecpm 5. In the Reporting tab, we recommend leaving Enable Reporting on. You ll need to enter the Username and Password credentials for the Mediation Source s Reporting API, provided by the publisher, in the fields below 6. The Creative tab will only be displayed for ad networks that require a designated ad size. For all other partners, the Creative tab will not be available 7. From the Targeting tab, you can choose to target all countries or implement country-level geo-targeting or block specific countries. You can also target or block specific devices, OS versions, Wi-Fi, and carriers Note: These user credentials allow AOL to import revenue information to provide you with a consolidated view of reporting across all of your demand sources 8. Click Save Now that you ve created a few demand sources, we ll walk through how to arrange your mediation dashboard. Note: You can create a copy of any demand source. To do so, click on the Down arrow next to the demand source and select Copy. You will be able to choose the Site or App and Placement to which you want to copy this demand source and edit the attributes 08
MANAGE YOUR MEDIATION DASHBOARD 1. Click into one of your Placements from the Applications and Sites dashboard 2. Choose an unassigned demand source in the Right Column and drag and drop into the Active Sources. This will become Tier 1. You can leave your other demand sources unassigned or move them into Tier 1, or into a new tier Note: Demand sources in Tier 1 will get access to bid on your inventory first. If you have more than one demand source in Tier 1, our optimization algorithm will decide which demand source to call first. If a request goes unfilled in Tier 1, it will move to Tier 2. We know that managing your brand and ensuring a well lit and safe experience for your users is very important, which is why AOL provides our publishers with robust ad quality tools. Once you go live, you will have the ability to view and engage with ads that have run on your sites or apps. We ll take you through the steps to do that next. MONITOR AD QUALITY 1. Click on the ONE by AOL: Mobile menu in the top left corner and click on Ad Screening 2. Select a Site or App from the drop-down menu, or View All 3. Choose whether you want to see Blocked, Allowed or All ads from the drop-down menu Note: Allowed = not blocked and currently running on your sites. Blocked = Blocked on at least one of your sites 4. Click Go and your ads will appear in a grid of ad cards 5. Hovering over each card provides additional information about the ad that was displayed on your site or app(s) and allows you to block (or allow the ad) moving forward. You are also able to click on the Creative URL and Landing Page URL to open them in your browser You can filter the Ad Screening results by Site, Date, Time, and Buyer. Select your desired Filters from the drop-down menus and click Apply. You can also search for a specific URL through the URL Search box. Enter the URL you re searching for and click Apply. To reset your selected Filters and/or URL Searches, click Clear 09
