4 1 Pre-requisites Topbar Pen CS Pty Ltd (PENCS) have developed Topbar as an adjunct to the GP Clinical Desktop System to deliver useful tools and decision support information for the primary care sector at the point of care. Topbar is designed to provide prompts and relevant information to all clinic staff based on the patients being seen and also those who are on the waiting list for the day. The user interface is minimalistic and allows the users to focus on the patient details and clinical information but provides important additional tools and information. Complete and accurate patient records are a key component of primary health care and Topbar assists all staff with this important aim. This document assumes that Topbar has been installed and the user has been registered. All screen shots were done on Windows 7 using Medical Director 3 as clinical system. 6 2 Client Installation Requirements for client installation Topbar server component has been installed User & Clinic need to be registered with Pen CS User or Administrative rights Installation is on a per user basis which means if multiple users share a PC you will have to install in each MS Windows user profile NOTE: Minimum.NET 2.0 Ability to setup firewall exception on specific port (8086)when configuring connection to clinic server Network Mbit If you are re-installing Topbar, please close it down before commencing the installation. We recommend to uninstall from Control Panel/Programs and Features/Pen CS Topbar if the user has access to Control Panel. Client installation steps 1. Go to 2. Image 3: Topbar clinic view screen Download and then run the download installer DesktopAppSetup1.x.x.x.exe. 8 Image 5: Desktop App Setup After the installation is complete, Topbar will start and the logon will be displayed on top of your screen. Image 6: Topbar Logon Topbar Start-up Configuration Topbar can be configured to log you in automatically with your clinical system (MD3 or Best Practice) and to start up when you start your computer. Single Sign on will automatically log you in to Topbar when successfully logged in to the clinical system. To sign out of Topbar simply sign out of clinical system, this will leave Topbar running but signed out. If signing out of Topbar the link will be removed and won t automatically log you in until linked again. The link can be also be removed manually but the best way to do it is via signing out of Topbar if you don t want to use the Single Sign On any more. To set up single sign on, the clinical system needs to be running with the user already logged on. Your Topbar username doesn t have to match your logon name in your clinical system, but you have to link the two logons first. After logging in to Topbar, click on the settings icon and then on Settings in the Topbar menu: 6 July 2015 PAGE 8 of 10

9 Image 7: Topbar Settings Menu The User Settings and System Settings tabs allow the start-up behaviour to be configured: User settings here you can link Topbar to your clinical system logon. Linking your Topbar account to the clinical system account can be done by clicking on the Link button under the Action column. Please ensure that you are linking the correct clinical user to your Topbar account. Image 8: Topbar User Settings System settings here you can enable auto start-up if enable Topbar will start when you start your computer Image 9: Topbar System Settings Adding Users Topbar users can be managed through your web browser. User can be added and configured provided you are a user with administration rights. During the setup of Topbar an administrator user is setup for each clinic. To access the clinic s details please use: 6 July 2015 PAGE 9 of 10

10 Log on with your Topbar username and password. This will allow you to add other users and reset passwords for yourself and others if you are administrator or just reset your own password for standard users. Image 10: PENCS User Portal After Client (Topbar) Installation By default, Topbar will be installed to: <USER PROFILE>\<APPDATA>\PCS\PCS Desktop Example: Win Vista, 7, 8 C:\Users\user.name\AppData\Roaming\PCS\PCS Desktop Start Menu shortcuts should be registered in Pen Computer Systems->PCS Topbar PCS Topbar Shortcut to start the Topbar (1 on the desktop as well) Runtime log Short cut to the log file (same as Sidebar s) Installation log Shortcut to the installation log Add/Remove programs entry added PCS Topbar (Can be un-installed from here) On launch, the Topbar username and password are required 3 Troubleshooting For further assistance with Topbar, please contact the Pen CS Help Desk on or support@pencs.com.au 6 July 2015 PAGE 10 of 10
