1 Instructions for Download and Installation of CTAS Version 8.2 Full Install Office of the State Auditor Website: NOTE: Some pictures and screenshots in these instructions refer to Version 8.1: all instructions below will work for the download and installation of Version 8.2 CTAS Version 8.2 can be downloaded to your computer from the State Auditor s Form Entry System (SAFES). The download requires a high speed Internet connection: if a high speed connection is not available, please contact our office at ctas@osa.state.mn.us or (651) Any computer that meets the minimum requirements to run Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 will fulfill the minimum requirements to run Version 8.2. Other programs running on your computer should also be taken into consideration when looking at these requirements. STEP ONE: DOWNLOADING CTAS VERSION 8.2 TO YOUR COMPUTER The screenshots below use Internet Explorer as the web browser. You can use another browser to download Version 8.2, but your screen will look different from the screenshots below. To access the download from SAFES, you need to be a registered SAFES Form Preparer and have your username and password available. If you have forgotten your password, go to If you are not currently set up to use SAFES as a Form Preparer, e mail us at ctas@osa.state.mn.us. Begin by going to the Office of the State Auditor s website, On the menu bar at the top of the home page, place your cursor over the Forms heading. 2 A menu will drop down: place your cursor over State Auditor s Form Entry System (SAFES) and left click once. The SAFES home screen will open. Enter your User Name and Password, then left click once on the Log In button. Instructions for Downloading and Installing CTAS Version 8.2 Full Install 2

3 The SAFES Contacts screen will open. Left click once on the CTAS tab. The CTAS Version 8 screen will appear. If another screen appears with information on how to purchase Version 8, it indicates that our records don t show that you are registered as a purchaser. Please contact us at ctas@osa.state.mn.us. On the CTAS Version 8 screen, the entity or entities associated with the user are listed. From this screen you can download CTASv8.2 Full Install, and view or print a CTAS Chart of Accounts. 4 To download CTAS Version 8.2 Full Install, place the cursor over the Download CTAS Version 8.2 Full Install link and right click once. A pop up menu will appear. Left click once on Save target as. For this example, we will save the program file to the desktop. While you can save the program to any location on your computer, be sure to remember where the file has been saved. When you click on Save target as from the drop down menu, a Save As box will appear. Double left click on the location you want to save CTAS v8.2 to, then left click once on Save. 5 NOTE: If you receive the below message in red, click on the X. When you click Save on the Save As screen (previous page), CTAS will begin downloading to your computer. The amount of time it takes to download depends on your Internet connection. Some browsers may show a status bar so you can see how the download is proceeding. When the download is finished, the message The CTAS FullInstall 8.2.exe download has completed will appear. Left click once on the X to close this message. Log out of SAFES by left clicking once on the Log Out tab. When you have logged out of SAFES, minimize or close your browser to continue installation (see next page). 6 STEP TWO: INSTALLING CTAS VERSION 8.2 ON YOUR COMPUTER Before you install CTAS Version 8.2, be sure to back up all of your CTAS Version 8 data. NOTE: Some pictures and screenshots in these instructions refer to Version 8.1: all instructions below will work for the download and installation of Version 8.2 NOTE: If you have previously installed CTAS Version 8.0, it must be closed before you install Version 8.2. CTAS Version 8.2 Full Install has been downloaded. To begin installation, double left click on the CTAS 8.2 icon, which we have saved to the desktop. The CTAS License screen appears. To continue, left click once inside the I agree to the license terms and conditions box. The Install button will become usable. 7 To begin installation, left click once on the Install button. A pop up window asking for permission to install the program may appear. Users will have to select yes or allow to install CTASv8.2 Full Install. When the program has finished installing, a screen will appear with Setup Successful. Leftclick once on Close. 8 The CTASv8.2 program is now installed and a shortcut icon has been placed on the desktop. Now that the program has been installed, you can delete the CTAS Full Install exe (installation) file. Place the cursor over the CTAS Full Install exe file icon and right click once. Once the drop down menu appears, left click once on the word Delete.
