1 The following pages review how to use the Markup & Measure tools while viewing a drawing in the Kettering ifm CAFM website. These steps will instruct the user on how to markup a drawing and save it for forwarding to others via , with the caveat that some software must be installed in order to have the capability to do this. This does not cover every aspect or function. It is simply a demonstration of one use of Design Review. Before Markup & Measure Review other manuals that may assist you in navigating and using the Kettering CAFM website. Follow these steps to retrieve the user guides: Step 1: Step 2: Start at the login page (before logging in) Click on Help in the upper, right corner next to the word Login. See the red, open rectangle in the image below. 1

2 This will navigate you to the help page as seen in the image below: Step 3: Click on User Guide Website Basics 2

3 This will open the user guide as seen in the image below. This is a PDF and you can use normal Adobe Reader commands to save this document to your local machine or you can always review it online via the system. IMPORTANT: The Website Settings guide contains general settings and instructions about how to use the website, including the drawing navigation. Instructions for using Design Review (embedded in the drawing viewer) to markup a drawing are listed on the following pages. 3

4 Design Review Step 1: Log into the website and navigate to the drawing that you need to work in. This should produce a view that is similar to the image seen below: 4

5 Notice that there are two menu lines as depicted in the red rectangle in the image below. The first menu that has 13 button images is for drawing manipulation; zooming, changing the background things of this nature. This menu is explained in the User Guide Website Basics and can be found using the steps listed at the beginning of this document. The second line of menu items displays the Design Review menu: Home, Markup & Measure, Tools, Resources, and a toggle down-arrow that lets you toggle the view of the menu from a full, ribbon menu to a single row, word menu (click on it to see how it works). 5

6 IMPORTANT NOTE: If you do not see the second set of menu items (Home, Markup & Measure ) then you may not be running Internet Explorer (IE) under the correct privileges. IE must be Run as Administrator in order to allow Design Review to load properly into the drawing viewer. So you may see the drawing but not the menu in this case. Step 2: Use the down-arrow at the right-hand end of the menu to toggle the view of the menu. Use this to set the view of the menu to your preference. Suppose we wanted measure the area of several rooms. Step 3: Step 4: Click on the Measure sub-menu (see red rectangle in the image below). Click on the second little image in that menu. If you hover over it you will see that it is the area measuring tool. 6

7 Step 5: Set the Formatting of the tool you are about to use. Once you select the tool the Formatting section will allow you to change the fill and opacity of the area. It is grayed out until you select a tool. You may want to change the color of the fill to yellow and leave the text red so that you can easily read the square footage of the area once selected. Also, when you select the area tool then your mouse cursor will change to a set of cross hairs. You can still use the scroll wheel on your mouse to zoom and so forth to get to where you need to on the drawing. Step 6: Use the cross hairs (mouse cursor) to select points on the drawing. See the image below. The cross hairs will allow you to snap to, and select points, vertices in the drawing to get accurate area measurements. Step 7: Step 8: Hit the Enter key when you have closed the area (clicking on the final point, the point you started at). Hit the Esc (Escape) key when you are finished selecting areas to revert the cross hairs back to a regular mouse cursor. Notice that the square footage is depicted in bold, red characters in the area selected. 7

8 Now let us suppose that you want to share this with someone. Step 9: Step 10: Right click in the drawing area. Select Print from the menu. The print dialog will pop up just as it would for general printing as seen below. Notice that the entire drawing is in the preview window rather than the zoomed in view actually on the page view. 8

9 Step 11: Click on the View pull-down selector and change it to Current View from Full Page as depicted in the image below. Notice the preview changes to the zoomed in view. Now you can print to the device of your choice. For example, I have Adobe Acrobat installed. So I can create a PDF and it to a colleague. You can print to any device that you have access to normally. 9
