4 Login/Register page NOTE: SolarSpeed Calculator is recommended to be used with Google Chrome or Opera web browser. The web application might be displayed incorrectly in other web browsers. Login with Chrome Login with Microsoft Edge

5 WebGL enabled WebGL (Web Graphics Library) is a standard for rendering D and 3D computer graphics in the web browser. Some users may experience problems with graphics because WebGL is disabled. At the login page you can see immediately if WebGL is enabled in your browser. In case WebGL is disabled, we have made a guide with instruction how to enable WebGL in Google Chrome or Opera browser. 6 Navigating menu / progress tracker Navigate menu by clicking on icon bar (). Depending on the selected number, a different left menu and content is shown. The progress tracker () below shows which steps are fully completed and where action is required to complete project. When you hovering with your mouse on a step, it will show information which fields or actions are required (3). 3

7 Account data / Logout Click on the person icon in the right upper corner Click on Logout or My Data In MyData, you can see edit other projects in your account, change your profile settings or change password. Click on Back to editor to go back to your current project

8 Start Project ( of ) Fill in project details () Upload company logo () Choose your ballast block (3) Set Basic Wind Speed Vb0 (4) 4 3

9 Start Project ( of ) Open Terrain Category tab () Select terrain category () for your project (Eurocode)

10 Add Google Maps - OPTIONAL Set project location () with Google Maps Fill in project address, enter and click Save to put Google Maps address in Project Address box on the left () Click on corner points on longest building edge (3) Click on button SAVE MAP and GO TO EDITOR (same button) (4) 4 3

11 Rotating Map - OPTIONAL Rotate Google Maps underlay by clicking Vertical or Horizontal () alignment to invisible line between blue circles () Example below shows horizontal alignment. Compass is rotated to South-East (3) 3

12 Move and Zoom drawing editor Move the drawing editor by holding the right mouse and drag. Users of tablets or touchscreens you can swipe with 3 fingers. Zoom the drawing space with scroll wheel of your mouse. Users of touchscreens can use fingers to zoom window.

13 Create roof (rectangular) In case you did not make use of Google Maps: Click on the building icon () on the left menu to switch to the roof drawing editor Create new rectangular roof (), click on upper left corner, drag towards the lower right corner. Then click again to create roof or fill in X and Y-sizes as described below. Fill in the horizontal X-size (3) at the blue marked input box at the bottom. Once you fill in the X-value, also the vertical Y-size (4) appear. By pressing tab on the keyboard the Y- axis value will get highlighted and also this value can be set. 3 4

14 Create roof (polyline) Click on the building icon () on the left menu to switch to CAD model space. Create new polyline roof by click on the + button (). Click first point (3) in the drawing window and move with mouse to other position and click second point of line (4). Now continue to define all other points. While moving with mouse cursor, an input box (5) to define dimension will appear at bottom of the screen. When toggle button Snap (6) is active, the polylines will snap always to horizontal or vertical axis. Close last segment of polyline (7), you can close roof edge by click on the first point or press c on keyboard or click on close (8) in left menu

15 Edit roof properties Click on the arrow () of your new roof top or click on Edit button on top of the screen to activate Edit Mode. In Edit Mode you can fill in all roof properties in the left menu palette (). Also the roof name can be customized. The edge distance is automatically calculated according the Eurocode. If you d like to set a smaller edge distance (at own risk), then you can switch off Auto Edge Distance (3) and set your own value. When you finish filling in the roof parameters you click on arrow () again in left menu again to exit Edit mode. If you want to delete a roof (4), click on trash bin on the right side of roof name in palette. 4 3

16 Change roof lengths Click on the arrow () of your new roof top or double click on roof edge to activate Roof Edit Mode. Hover with mouse cursor () on left or right side of the roof edge (dashed line). An input box appear at the bottom of the screen. Fill in a new length (3) for roof edge. The roof edge will extend to the direction depending if you hover with mouse on left or right side of line. In example underneath (right side) 3

17 Create, move or delete vertex Click on the arrow () of your new roof top or double click on roof edge to activate Roof Edit Mode. To create new roof edge vertex (), hover with mouse on dashed line and double click or press the key i on keyboard. Move vertex by hovering with mouse on vertex (circle) until it lights up green. Then hold left mouse click and drag vertex to a new position. When you switch on Snap toggle button. The vertex will automatically snap to vertical or horizontal extension of other edge. Delete a vertex by hovering with mouse on vertex until it lights up green and press delete on keyboard.

18 Create obstacles Creating obstacles works exactly the same way as creating roofs. You can make rectangular or polyline obstacles. When moving an obstacle dimensions to the outside walls are temporary shown. Move () obstacle by select grip and holding left mouse button and drag to other position. Stretch () obstacle by select grip and hold left mouse button and drag to make it bigger or smaller. Rotate (3) obstacle by select grip and holding left mouse button and drag to other position. Copy (4) obstacle by clicking on copy button Delete (5) obstacle, click on trash bin on the right side of obstacle name in palette

19 Obstacle properties Show help lines () -> Dimensions from each obstacle to outside walls are displayed Editing obstacles is very similar as roofs. Click on the arrow () in left menu to go into Edit Mode and change parameters. Name, height and exclusion (offset) zone can be set (3). The height must be filled in to correctly visualize in 3D. When editing is finished, you click again on arrow () to collapse menu or switch button (4) to exit Edit mode. 4 3

20 Add new solar module Click on main menu ribbon on the solar module icon (). Click on the arrow () to open module database. Add new module by clicking on the + (3) and fill in the properties. Module database will automatically collapse when click on save (4). 3 4

21 Select standard frame type Open the array menu by clicking on arrow (). Click on arrow () to select one of the frame types in the database The standard frame types are read-only (3) and cannot be edited. Click on arrow () again to collapse palette after frame selection 3

22 Create custom frame type Expand array palette by click on arrow (). To create a new custom frame, click on the + button (). If desired, give your frame type a unique name (3). Make a choice between south or east-west system (4). Choose module tilt (5) of 0,.5 or 5. NOTE: East-West has.5 tilt only Choose pitch (6) of.5,.6,.75 or custom (between.5 and.5m). NOTE: If you d like to make use of a custom pitch, please inform Avasco in advance. Click save (7) to finish frame creation and palette will collapse. Delete if you want to remove a custom frame from your database

23 Create module layout groups Click on the auto-fill icon () on Module groups menu bar to automatically fill the roof with modules excluding edge zones and obstacles. Manually create Module groups () by defining area of modules with selection window. Move (3) or stretch (4) a module group by holding left mouse click on grip and drag. 3 4

24 Change dilatations (thermal breaks) The application has default module quantities and spacing for making a dilatation (thermal break) in horizontal and vertical direction. In case you want to change the defaults, open the Module Group () Open Dilatation arrow (), changes values and click APPLY.

25 Edit module group Click the edit button () to activate module edit mode or double click () in the drawing editor on the Module Group which you d like to edit. The view will change to simplified. Shown modules on the roof are colored in purple Hidden modules that interfere with obstacles are shown in pink color. If you would like to stop manual editing and go back to auto-fill you can switch () Edit Mode back to Auto Mode

26 Force show or hide modules Force module to be shown or hidden () by selecting modules with one with left mouse click, or with cross selection (Hold left mouse button and drag from upper left to bottom right). When modules are selected they appear grey and a new bar of edit icons shows up under group name. Click on + icon () to force show modules or click on - (3) to show hidden modules. To undo a show or hide action or clear a selection, click on button (4) or press Esc on keyboard. Click again on Module Edit icon (5) to toggle back to Present Mode to display results of editing

27 Move modules from group Select modules () which you want to move from group. Selecting modules can be done one by one with left mouse click. Or with cross selection window (upper left to lower right). When modules are selected they appear grey and a new bar of edit icons shows up under group name. Click on move icon () to take module out of current group and create new group. The drawing window will automatically toggle from Module Edit to Present mode.

29 3D Visualisation Click on 3D switch to visualize project in 3D () Click on camera button to take screenshot of 3D view ()

30 Project Summary Open the Reports page () from the ribbon menu. The Project Summary is shown by default () Save this page as PDF (3) Save bill of materials (4) to CSV (Excel). 3 4

31 Full Report (ballast) Open the Reports page () from the ribbon menu. Click the button full report on left menu () and scroll down to read all pages. Save full report as PDF (3) 3

32 Print Drawing Open the Reports page () from the ribbon menu. Click the button Print drawing () Click Save to SVG to save drawing as SVG-file (3) Open SVG file with internet browser or software such as Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape (freeware). 3

33 Offer Request Open the Reports page () from the ribbon menu. Click the button Offer Request () Set Country for transport cost indication (3) Click button to send offer request by (4) 3 4

34 Settings In the settings page we can change units in project settings D settings to change background and grid colors 3D settings contain option to switch off sky box Keyboard settings (under construction) Import-Export for sharing project files with others or importing from 3 rd party CAD applications such as Virtuosolar
