1 Marietta High School FBLA Integration Mrs. Jeannie Stone FBLA Activities in Introduction To Digital Technology Month Activity Details/Skills Covered August Presentation Students attended a presentation by FBLA Advisors regarding the benefits of joining FBLA September Emerging Technology Communication and presentation skills are demonstrated when presenting facts about an emerging technology. October My Personality Students design PowerPoint/Prezi presenting the results of their and November Voki Invite Students created a voki inviting friends to participate in Cobb Christmas. December Cobb Christmas Students will participate in Cobb Christmas by donating can foods. February Soft Skills Project Students create web page emphasize soft skills in the workplace. March FBLA Web Page Student will create an FBLA web page using html code. March Weebly Band Project Students will create a web page/weebly project which will promote a business and create a database of customers.
2 Standard: IT-IDT-5: Understand, communicate, and adapt to a digital world. Emerging technology is technology that is fairly new and has not yet been adapted by the mainstream public. Examples in the past have included, Mobile Wallet, 3D Printing, self-heating material, remote sensing-drive safely, etc. Review these websites: Research and select an emerging technology. Based on your selection, give a presentation on the following a. Describe technology and how it works b. Describe what need this technology is fulfilling c. Describe how this technology can be used to help businesses d. Describe how this technology can be used to help humans e. Describe the safety concerns of this technology from multiple points of view f. Your thoughts on the life of the technology (how long will it last- when will it become obsolete?) g. What is the cost of the technology? (Dollar amount, privacy, social cost, psychological, etc.) h. Include a Works Cited slide with your references for this project 2. Create a digital poster/presentation (Piktochart, Prezi, etc) with the answers to the questions above and meets the following criterion: a. You will need to present your poster to the class. b. 9 Create a new paragraph-justified Do the research about the soft skills and write a paragraph about the importance of the soft skills in a work place. Paragraph must be at least 3 sentences and must for a paragraph meaning it has to cover at least three lines across the page. 10 Introduction to Digital Technology As a computer savvy student at Marietta High School, you have been asked by the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) Advisers to develop an electronic media using Web Page to promote the benefits of joining FBLA. You must include the following in your design: Log onto and create a web page using the following the instructions below: 1. The title should be: Future Business Leaders of America 2. Choose a background color. 3. Choose a font color. 4. Insert an image of the new FBLA Symbol for (Excellence in Action). 5. Under the picture create a hyperlink to the FBLA website 6. Add a marquee so that the words (Future Business Leaders of America) scroll from left to right. 7. On the left sidebar of the official FBLA website, click on About FBLA-PBL, then select Goals. Create a header called Goals and type the nine goals as a numbered list. 8. Next, click on Mission and Pledge. Create a header called FBLA PBL Mission and type the mission statement. 9. On the left side bar, click on Conferences. Explore what opportunities available to students through participation in FBLA conferences. Write a paragraph. 10. On the left side bar, click on Community Service. Explore the abundant service learning opportunities available through FBLA. Make a bulleted list of these items. 11. Select the red FBLA tab at the top left of the monitor and select Competitive Events. Next, scroll down to Event Guidelines, Rating Sheets, and Format Guides and select FBLA Topics Explore competitive events relating to Introduction to Digital Technology and provide a description of the following: Website Design and Mobile Applications. 12. Click on MarketPlace from the left sidebar of the official FBLA website. a. Create a header called Marketplace. b. Select Official Dress from the left side car and use the pictures to put together an outfit for a male or female (for example for girls: skirt, blazer, scarf, guys: slacks, blazer, tie etc.> 13. Check out the FBLA E-Center from the left side bar. Next click on the Social Media tab. a. Using a numbered list, what social networks are FBLA associated with? - Click on the Video and Presentations tab and click on the link FBLA-PBL National Center YouTube channel.
