This is why Entando has embarked on the journey of aligning the platform to the needs of Modern Applications. The 4.3 release brings the Entando product much closer to the standards that enterprises require for a Digital Experience Platform and modern software development framework. The goal of Entando 4.3 is to improve the user experience and usability of the platform by providing a new admin console, a refreshed visual identity and an easier-to-follow information architecture. The main innovations include: a new design for the admin and plugin management console a new dashboard for the admin console a new information architecture a new Page Designer with drag & drop features new page and device preview page publishing general improvements of the user experience improvements in the UX of CMS features new features and components 2

3 WHAT S NEW A NEW DESIGN FOR THE ADMIN CONSOLE AND THE PLUGINS MANAGEMENT One of the core improvements of the 4.3 version is a user centered re-design of the admin console and components inspired to the PatternFly guidelines. PatternFly is a community project that promotes design uniformity and improved user experience. The adoption of the PatternFly paradigm harmonizes the UX across the different pages of the admin console and aligns the style of it to the international standards and best practices that Patternfly has set based on the analysis and recurrence of a wide spectrum of use cases and requirements. PatternFly has been limited to the design of the admin console. While implementing the applications front-end, developers are free to use the guidelines they prefer (eg. PatternFly, Material, Flat or even AGID rules). 5 A NEW ARCHITECTURE The new IA (Information Architecture) provides a reorganization of contents with a revised nomenclature. These enhancements improve the usability of the platform for both developers, editors and administrators As an example of the new IA, we have created a Specific settings page in each entity section (content, pages, etc) instead of having mixed settings options as it was in the General settings menu of Entando 4.2. As an example of the new language, please note the labels Page Designer, UX Pattern, Integration and APPs that appear in the menu items. The change is also extended to an upgrade in the terminology / label appearing in the admin console. An entire dictionary regarding the the new 4.3 is available at the end of the document. 6 A NEW DASHBOARD The new admin console dashboard lets users visualize data that shows some back-stage information about the applications contents and page progresses. 7 A NEW DRAG&DROP PAGE DESIGNER One of the most important innovations of the 4.3 release is the new Page Designer. It s a simple tool to create and configure pages for a web application, in a drag & drop format. This release also supports a page publishing function with the ability to preview changes prior to publishing them to production. The sum of these features makes using Entando even easier. A graphical editor to customize the page layout has been made available in the page model definition. This layout is also available in the page configuration so that the editor has a visual representation of the frame position in the page. 8

When a widget is inserted into a frame, if configuration is required, the widget configuration UI will be opened. Implementation of the page status. The ability to create and edit pages in draft mode and put them online after the necessary checks on the page makes the editor job more comfortable and error-proof. When a user creates a page, the page will be not be immediately published but it will be created in the draft status. The user can then publish the page any time through the publish button and the page status turns into online. If the user changes the configuration of a page which is online status, this page will assume the status draft online: changes will appear in the draft version of the page, not in the online one, that is not modified. For each single change of the page configuration, a save and revert option -to align the draft and online status of the page- are available. 9

13 BUG FIXES The release 4.3 is mainly focused on enhancements and new features. One exception is the fixing of a bug related to a security problem found by Struts2 and corrected in the current version of Struts The release 4.3 solves this problem. A typical example of an Entando plugin is the Web Dynamic Form. UI Bundle It is an "off-the-shelf" User Interface element that developers can utilize when building an application. A typical example of an Entando UI bundle is a Page Model. App It's a platform subsection that solves applications specific business requirements. Apps can be made of different and multiple components. In Entando 4.3 the main App area is related to CMS purposes. Fragment It's a part of code of a User Interface. A typical example of a fragment regards an input of a form. Components It's the basic element to build applications. Components include Plugins and UI Bundles. Widget It is a component that includes UI features and enables a specific service. Page model UX packages It is the way a page of an application is characterized. The model is defined by two variables: Layout: the division of the page in smaller area called frames Template: the look and feel of the page An Entando vertical application for a specific domain (e.g. Government, Education, Smart Energy, etc.). It results from the sum of other components (eg. plugins, UI bundles,...). Page designer It s the Admin Console s section where users can create and configure applications pages. 13
