Deciding How to Organize Your Selection Guide Introduction When you create a selection guide, you can organize it any way you choose. Often times it depends on how you want to present the products to your customers or how you want them to choose. The Selection Guide Creator allows you to define two different types of product organization: Rooms or Uses and Product Groupings. Rooms or Uses are typically the rooms in which the products will be installed, such as kitchen, master bath, etc., or how they are used, such as kitchen faucet, master bath faucet, master bath shower, etc. You can choose from some common rooms or uses that we ve already defined, or you can create your own custom ones. Product Groupings are normally used to designate upgrades, options or styles, but they can be used for any other manner in which you want to group products. You can choose from some common product groupings that we ve already defined, or you can create your own custom ones. When you create a new guide, you can decide whether you want it to be organized by rooms or uses at the top level and then product groupings at the second level, or by product groupings at the top level and then rooms or uses at the second level. Page 1 of 16
One common type of guide to create is one that has different packages available for each room in the house. This would result in a guide that looks like the following: To create a guide like this, follow the instructions in Example One: Standard and Upgrade Packages for Each Room. Page 2 of 16
Another type of guide that you might want to create is one that has different styles available for the entire house. This would result in a guide that looks like the following: To create a guide like this, follow the instructions in Example Two: Different Styles for the House. Page 3 of 16
You might also want to create a guide that has different packages for the entire house. This would result in a guide that looks like the following: To create a guide like this, follow the instructions in Example Three: Standard and Optional Packages for the House. Page 4 of 16
Example One: Standard and Upgrade Packages for Each Room Suppose you are providing faucets and accessories for three rooms: the kitchen, guest bath and master bath. In each of the rooms, you have a standard package and two different upgrade packages they can choose from. In this case, you ll likely want to organize your guide by rooms/uses then product groupings, so they can easily compare their options in each room. To create the guide described in this example, do the following. If you need more detailed instructions for creating a new guide, visit the How to Create a New Guide: Step by Step topic. 1. Choose to create a new guide by clicking the Create a New Guide link at the bottom of your guide list. 2. Select your design in Step 1 and click Continue. 3. Choose your output format(s) in Step 2 and click Continue. 4. Identify the custom content that you want to include on your cover pages/home page in Step 3 and click Continue. 5. In Step 4, choose your background image and add the custom content that you selected in Step 3 for the output formats that you selected in Step 2. When you are finished with the custom content for each output format, click Continue. 6. Add your Kitchen, Guest Bath and Master Bath rooms/uses in Step 5. Kitchen and Master Bath are both available from the common rooms or uses, and you ll need to add Guest Bath as a custom room or use. When you are finished, click Continue. 7. Add your Standard, Upgrade 1 and Upgrade 2 product groupings in Step 6. All three are available from the common product groupings. When you are finished, click Continue. Page 5 of 16
Page 6 of 16
8. In Step 7, do the following: a. Your guide should already be organized by rooms or uses then product groupings. You can verify this by checking the Structure setting in the Overall Settings on the left. b. Add the number of products that you want to include in each section by selecting the number from the applicable How many products will you have in this section drop-down. TIP: If you do not want a product grouping to be included for a particular room/use, set the number of products in that section to 0. c. Add any room notes and second level notes that you want to include. d. When you are finished, click Continue. Page 7 of 16
9. Identify the data that you want to include for each product in Step 8 and click Continue. 10. In Step 9, add your products and any product information that you chose to include as part of Step 8. When you are finished, click Continue. 11. Select your final output options in Step 10 and click Continue. 12. In Step 11, you can view your selection guide in the output formats that you chose during Step 2. Your guide will be organized by rooms or uses and then product groupings. If you created a PDF, your rooms or uses will be the main headers, and your product groupings will be the second level headers. If you created a custom website, Kitchen, Guest Bath and Master Bath will appear in the left navigation. Page 8 of 16
Example Two: Different Styles for the House Suppose you have decided to provide three different styles of faucets and accessories: Casual, Contemporary and Traditional. In most cases, your customers will choose the same style for the entire house, so you ll normally want to organize your guide by product groupings (styles) then rooms or uses, so they can choose the style that they like best for the whole house. 6. Add rooms/uses for Kitchen, Powder and Master Bath in Step 5. All three are available from the common rooms/uses. When you are finished, click Continue. 7. Add your Casual, Contemporary and Traditional styles as product groupings in Step 6. You will need to add all three as custom product groupings. When you are finished, click Continue. Page 9 of 16
Page 10 of 16
8. In Step 7, do the following: a. Change the structure of your guide in the Overall Settings on the left. You ll want to use Product Groupings, then Rooms or Uses as your structure. It will change the organization of your guide in the main preview area. b. Add the number of products that you want to include in each section by selecting the number from the applicable How many products will you have in this section drop-down. TIP: If you do not want a room or use to be included for a particular product grouping, set the number of products in that section to 0. c. Add any grouping notes and second level notes that you want to include. d. When you are finished, click Continue. Page 11 of 16
Your guide will be organized by product groupings and then rooms or uses. If you created a PDF, your styles will be the main headers, and your rooms or uses will be the second level headers. If you created a custom website, Casual, Contemporary and Traditional will appear in the left navigation. Page 12 of 16
Example Three: Standard and Optional Packages for the House Suppose you have decided to provide three different packages of faucets and accessories, and you want your customers to choose one for the entire house. You ll want each package to appear on a single page, so it is easy for them to see the entire package and choose the one they like the best. In this instance, you ll want to organize your guide with one room or use that contains three product groupings, one for each package. 6. Add one custom room or use called Faucet Packages in Step 5. When you are finished, click Continue. 7. Add three product groupings in Step 6: Standard, Option 1 Leland Package and Option 2 Lockwood Package. Standard is available from the common product groupings, and the other two need to be added as custom product groupings. When you are finished, click Continue. Page 13 of 16
Page 14 of 16

If you created a PDF, Faucet Packages will be the main header, and your packages will be the second level headers.
