3 ABOUT TXBRIDGE The application was developed by the Texas Department of Transportation for use on a Microsoft Windows computer system. TxBridge is used in conjunction with the Bentley Systems MicroStation computer-aided drafting application. The application extends MicroStation by providing the user with various utilities that implement CAD standards adopted by the TxDOT Bridge Division. These utilities automate the selection of drawing scales and the placement of text and terminator elements. MicroStation is a commercial software product. The TxBridge user is responsible for purchasing a MicroStation license and for installing the software. Page 3 of 8

Phone: Release History and Support Status Product Name Version Release Date Support Status December 2011 Supported October 2007 Supported April 2007 Supported TxDOT Bridge ToolBox November 2005 Not Supported Determining the Installed Version Use the following procedures to determine the specific version of TxBridge software currently installed: For Version 1.3 Only Run the Windows Add or Remove Programs applet (Start Settings Control Panel Add or Remove Programs) and look for the application named TxDOT Bridge Toolbox If the TxDOT Bridge Toolbox 2004 product is listed then Version 1.3 is installed For Version or Greater Use either of the following two methods: 1. Add or Remove Programs Method Run the Windows Add or Remove Programs applet (Start Settings Control Panel Add or Remove Programs) and look for the application named TxDOT Bridge Toolbox (TXBRIDGE). If the product is listed, click on the product name and then click the support information link to open the Support Info window where the version number is listed. 2. MicroStation Method Start MicroStation and open a DGN file. On the MicroStation main menu bar select the TxBridge Help About TxBridge menu item. A MicroStation window will open and report the version number. Page 4 of 8

5 VERSION Status TxBridge Version is the current production release. Compatibility Version may be installed on Windows 2000 through Windows 7 computer systems and is compatible with MicroStation V8 (Version 8.5 or newer version), including MicroStation V8i. Installing and Removing the Software Non-Texas DOT Users Reference the product distribution README file, included in the software distribution package. Texas DOT Users Work with local Information Resources personnel and use LANDesk Software Delivery related procedures to install and uninstall the software. Summary of Changes The following is a summary of the changes that have been applied to Version These changes are relative to Version Modifications necessary for compatibility with MicroStaton V8i. This does not impact functionality to the user. TxBridge version still works the same with MicroStation V8 (2004 Edition, Version 8.5). 2. Modifications were made to three (3) terminator macros (ptermend, ptermisc, and ptermdbl) as detailed below. Correct arrowhead placement angle to account for view rotation. Remove macro dependency for custom working unit settings. The user is responsible for setting the appropriate terminator scale. Known Problems None. Page 5 of 8

6 VERSION Status TxBridge Version was superseded by Version in March Compatibility Version may be installed on Windows 2000/3 and XP computer systems and is compatible with MicroStation V8 (2004 Edition, Version 8.5). This specific release of Microstation must be used with TxBridge V Installing and Removing the Software Non-Texas DOT Users Reference the product distribution README file, included in the software distribution package. Texas DOT Users Work with local Information Resources personnel and use CA Unicenter Software Delivery related procedures to install and uninstall the software. Summary of Changes The following is a summary of the changes that have been applied to Version These changes are relative to Version The software package was modified to allow the TxBridge software product to be uninstalled when the MicroStation software is not installed. You may now remove the MicroStation software before removing TxBridge. Note: The MicroStation software must still be installed in order to install TxBridge. The MicroStation environment variable configuration file was renamed from txbridge.cfg to txdot_txbridge.cfg. This file is installed in the MicroStation application level configuration folder [MicroStation Directory]\config\appl during the installation process. A copy of the file resides in the TxBridge installation directory. The installation process now adds Registry entries. (See HKLM\Software\TxDOT\TXBRIDGE). Known Problems None. Page 6 of 8

This specific release of Microstation must be used. Summary of Changes The following is a summary of the changes that have been applied to Version These changes are relative to TxDOT Bridge ToolBox 2004 (Version 1.3). The menu name, on the MicroStation main menu bar, has changed from Bridge to TxBridge. The new TxBridge Settings dialog box has been added. This new dialog box, accessed by selecting TxBridge>Settings, is typically used in lieu of the existing Set Scale and Place Text utilities to set and/or display the current working scale and/or text size. The Settings dialog box can be docked at either the top or bottom of the MicroStation window The TxBridge program folder has been added and is accessed as follows: Start>Programs>Texas Department of Transportation>Bridge Toolbox (TXBRIDGE) The new TxBridge User Guide has been added. This document can be accessed via the TxBridge>Help>User Guide menu item or via the TxBridge User Guide shortcut, located in the TxBridge program folder. Support Information (this document) is now available via the Support Information shortcut, located in the TxBridge program folder. The non-txdot user s PC must have Internet access to access this document The TxBridge>Help>About TxBridge menu item has been added to report the current version number assigned to the application. The installation, based on the Windows Installer (MSI), performs a per machine type install and allows the software to be installed in any folder on the PC. The default installation directory, [Program Files]\TxDOT\TxBridge\, is recommended. The installation establishes the Windows system environment variable TXDOT_TXBRIDGE. The value of this variable represents the full path to the TxBridge installation folder (e.g. TXDOT_TXBRIDGE=D:\Program Files\TxDOT\TxBridge\). The TXBRIDGE system environment variable is no longer used. Known Problems The following is a summary of the know problems: Can Not Remove TxBridge Software When MicroStation Is Not Installed Description: The TxBridge software package requires that MicroStation V8 be installed in order to remove the product. If MicroStation is not installed the system will issue a message reporting that the MicroStation V8 software can not be located and will not allow the TxBridge product to be removed. Workaround: There is no practical workaround other than reinstalling the MicroStation V8. Reinstall the MicroStation V8 software product and then remove the TxBridge software. Page 7 of 8

8 TxDOT Bridge ToolBox 2004 (Version 1.3) Status TxDOT Bridge ToolBox 2004, also referred to as Version 1.3, was superseded by Version in April Version 1.3 is not supported. Version 1.3 users should switch to the current release. Removing Version 1.3 The TxDOT Bridge ToolBox 2004 (Version 1.3) software should be removed before installing any new release of TxBridge software. Remove the V1.3 software as follows: 1. Log in to the workstation using an account that has System Administrator privileges. 2. Start the Windows Add or Remove Programs applet (Start Settings Control Panel Add or Remove Programs). 3. Select the TxDOT Bridge Toolbox 2004 application. 4. Select Change/Remove button to start the uninstall processing. Page 8 of 8
