The current version of the installation guide is available on our website: Read the installation guide in full before installing the device. Keep the installation guide in a place that is easily accessible. The device may only be transferred with the installation guide. If the installation guide is lost, replace it immediately. 5 Safety 5 2 Safety 2.1 User profile This device may only be installed by specialists. The specialists have to be qualified system administrators or IT specialists. The specialists have to read the installation instructions carefully prior to installing the device. 2.2 Warranty and liability This installation guide applies to epblue software version Our epblue software is produced with the utmost care and attention and corresponds to the current state of the art. Use only software approved and tested by Eppendorf on the epmotion system. Only install and configure an additional client if you have adequate experience in the corresponding network and system configuration. If you want to install an additional client in a company network, ensure that this work is only performed by an IT expert who provides support for this. Secure the data on the additional client prior to installation. If you connect an additional client (e.g., a PC or laptop) and reconfigure the system, you do so at your own responsibility. Eppendorf AG expressly does not guarantee that the epblue software on the client will function with other programs selected by the license. Eppendorf AG accepts no liability for any damage or consequential damage (e.g., lost profit, business interruptions, loss of information or data). This does not apply where compulsory liability is prescribed by law, in accordance with product liability law for example, in cases of intent, gross negligence, where there is loss of life, injury or impairment to health or if substantial contractual obligations are breached. Eppendorf guarantees that the data carrier is functional and the documentation included in the delivery is complete at the time of delivery. If the data carrier or the documentation included in the delivery contains errors, the licensee can request a replacement within a guarantee period of 12 months. Further claims are expressly excluded. Eppendorf AG does not offer support for configurations in which epblue is connected to an integrated PC via a remote connection. By installing epblue and the associated components you accept the enclosed license agreement!

7 Installation 7 4 Installation 4.1 Installing the epblue client on a second computer Installing the epblue client on a second computer enables you to create applications and manage epblue from an office computer. The computer on which you install the epblue client needs to be connected to the industrial PC via an Ethernet connection with a static IP address. Example: IP address of the industrial PC and IP address of the computer Information on configuring the industrial PC can be found in the epmotion operating manual, chapter You can configure a second client (remote client) in epblue on the Admin tab in the left column under Extra. This remote client can be connected to the epmotion via an Ethernet connection. To install the epblue client on a second computer, proceed as follows: 1. Log into Windows as an administrator. 2. Close all programs. 3. Insert the epblue installation CD ROM in the drive. 4. In the Software folder, start the Setup.exe program. 5. Follow the installation instructions until the Setup Type screen appears.

8 8 Installation 6. Select Client only. 7. To complete the installation, click the Next button. 8. Start the epblue client. 9. Enter user name and password in the login window. 10.Click the [...] button. 11.Enter the IP address of the industrial PC in the window. If you are using a remote client configuration: Do not log on to both industrial PCs with the same user name at the same time. Only start applications from the client which is installed on the industrial PC. Do not start applications from the remote client. Do not log on to the remote client while an application is running on the epmotion.

9 Configuring the network 9 5 Configuring the network 5.1 Connecting the computer to the network To connect the computer to your local network, the following requirements have to be met: Administrator access is available. The computer has two Ethernet interfaces. One Ethernet interface is available for the network connection and configurable in Windows. Communication between epmotion and the computer takes place via the second Ethernet interface via a direct connection and the TCP/IP Internet protocol with the static IP address /24. This configuration may not be changed. If a firewall is installed, communication between epmotion and the computer may not be delayed or filtered. If you have epblue client installed on a computer and the computer connected to your local network, you can use the software epblue via remote. With the epblue client, you can on this additional computer create applications and manage epblue.
