6 1 Introduction The GroundNav is developed by AG-NAV Inc. for Ground Navigation. The GroundNav system consists of a tough Android tablet with touch screen for compact and easy operation, a Bluetooth GPS receiver; an Agnav Bluetooth Remote Switch (optional) and an Android application called GroundNav. Since the device is an Android tablet designed for multi-purposes, upon booting it runs Android operating system then shows the preloaded applications that can be executed in the device. So beside navigation, you can surf the internet, check s, listen to music, take pictures, and do other things. GroundNav is a user-friendly application operated by touching icons or buttons shown on screen. GroundNav main features: a) Mapping: To map the boundaries of your properties or spray areas. b) Guidance: To guide you to spray selected lines on a predefined area or new area. c) Spray Precision and Correction: The areas and data generated by GroundNav can be used in the AgNav Guia Gold/Silver or Platinum directly. And vice versa, the area and data files generated by the Guia can be used in the GroundNav. This way you can leave the sensitive areas such as buffer zones or around field edges to the ground crew to avoid chemical drifting outside the spray areas. GroundNav can be used to fill gaps or lines missed by aerial applications. 1.1 Operation: To select an item in a menu, just touch the appropriate icon on screen. To change a parameter or value, a drop-down menu will appear to show the available options. Touch the desired option to select it. If the selected item or parameter requires an entry, a virtual keyboard is shown for your input. 1.2 Operating System: Since Android is used as the operating system, there are 3 basic control keys which are always shown at the bottom of screen: Figure 1.1: System Navigation Keys Back Key: The Back key is used to return to the previous page or activity. This key works the same as the Exit key in GroundNav. Home Key: The Home key is used to jump directly to the Home screen. If the GroundNav or other software is running, the Home key will make it run in the background. Multi-Task Key: The Multi-Task key is used to show a list of all applications or software running in the background. All external device connections and settings for wireless communications and internet should follow the rules in Android. Note that the terms Key and Button are interchangeable in this manual to indicate an accessible functional button shown on screen. For example the Home key and Home button are the same. 38 8 Troubleshooting 8.1 No GPS: In normal working condition, while GroundNav can get GPS signal from the Bluetooth GPS Receiver: The GPS Receiver is paired and selected in GroundNav GPS Receiver settings. There will be no No GPS! blinking message shown on the screen and you can see the Red circle move when you move the GPS Receiver around. The Blue LED indicates connected to GroundNav, must be on not blinking. The Green LED indicates that it can get GPS signal, must be on not blinking. If the GroundNav shows No GPS blinking on screen, check the blue light on Bluetooth GPS receiver. If it is blinking, that means the connection to the GroundNav is interrupted. First check to ensure Location Settings is set properly as mentioned in section 2.3. Then, go to Section 4.1 GPS Receiver to select/confirm the right receiver. If this does not work, turn off the GPS receiver for a few seconds then turn it on again. If you try several times but GroundNav still shows No GPS!. Please try to un-pair the pair the GPS Receiver again. If there is error pairing the device, check whether the GPS Receiver is in low battery. If it still shows No GPS, try to turn OFF and ON again in Settings -> Bluetooth. If Bluetooth Settings cannot be ON after several minutes, restart the tablet and try again.
