1 Version 4 Easy Royalties Move Easy Royalties to a New Computer 1 SUMMARY This document covers how to move your Easy Royalties license and data file to a new computer. This is a four step process: 1. Install Easy Royalties on the new computer 2. Generate a license code to register the software ( 3. Transfer the Easy Royalties data file(s) and folders to the new personal computer 4. Configure your backup software to backup the files from their new location 1.1 INSTALL EASY ROYALTIES ON A NEW COMPUTER Login to the Easy Royalties client portal (Image 1) From the Downloads & Update menu option select Easy Royalties. (Image 2) DoubleClick the download link for a new installation. Select Run (or Save and then Run) to install the software. (Image 3) This will install Easy Royalties on a new computer. 3 Image GENERATE A LICENSE CODE TO UNLOCK THE SOFTWARE After installing the software generate a license code to register the software. To do this: Right click the Easy Royalties icon on your desktop and select Run as Administrator. (Image 4) This opens the software in Administrator mode. License codes can only be entered in Administrator mode. Image 4 In the Easy Royalties Registration screen enter your software configuration. (Image 5). July 18, Page 3

4 Then enter your license key. To generate a license key return to the client portal at and select Get a License Key. (Image 6) Enter or copy (Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the product ID from the Registration screen (Image 5) into the Product ID box. Select Get License key. A text box may appear that asks why you need a license key. Enter a reason. When the license key appears copy (Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the key into the Registration screen. 5 Image TRANSFER THE EASY ROYALTIES DATA FILES After registering the software move the Easy Royalties data file (the.dat file) and other files used by Easy Royalties to the new computer Copy the Data File Copy your Easy Royalties data file (.dat) to the new computer. The location and name of this file many be found on the old computer at: 1. The top of the main window (Image 7) 2. Options & Settings > Database Management (Image 7) 3. 6 Image 7 Image 8 After copying the data file to the new computer, go to Preferences > Connection Management and select Change Database to select this datafile OR select Logout from the main menu to select Change from the Login screen. (Image 9) After selecting the database file, select These are the default connections settings. This will automatically select the specified data file each time it is opened. 7 Image Copy stationery Images If you royalty statement stationery uses an image, copy the image files to the same location(s) as specified in your data file. The location of this file is Options & Settings > Stationery. You can use browse to change the location of the file. (Image 10) July 18, Page 7

8 Image Copy Royalty Statement PDF Folder Copy the royalty statement folder to the same locations(s) as specified in the Output tab of your Royalty Schedule(s) Review the royalty software settings After performing the steps above; installing the software, generating the license code and moving your data file review the software settings Review Options and Settings Go to Options and Settings > General options and settings. Review the settings for home country, home language, home currency and taxes Review Options & Settings > Stationary Go to Options & Settings > Stationary. Review the stationary settings for the royalty statement headers Print a sample statement From the royalty statement record list select a statement(s). Then select the documents button at the top of the screen to print a statement View a stored PDF statement Select a royalty statement record. From the status tab select view to see the PDF of the selected royalty statement. July 18, Page 8

9 1.4 CONFIGURE YOUR BACKUP SOFTWARE Confirm that the backup software used by your company is configured to backup the royalty software data files from their new locations. These files include: 1.
