1 Dassault F8X subscribing to DS3 or DNG Navigation Database and echarts DATE: 19 September 2018 SUBJECT: INDS Data Manager (IDM) and Updated Electronic Terminal Charts DVD/USB: INDS Website and Physical Media Cycles: Charts cycle 1820 / Navigation Database Cycle 1811 & Subsequent Dear Valued Customer, The following two (2) F8X certifications are projected to oversize in the 4 th quarter of 2018: DNG Dassault F8X EASy III 1 st Certification (Load 16.2) DS3 Dassault F8X EASy III 2 nd Certification (Load 16.4) This issue impacts aircraft configured with either Single or Dual Charts enabled. The memory limitation is related to the size of Chart support files rather than the Charts themselves, and as such can be mitigated by using INDS Data Manager (IDM) for database delivery rather than physical media or downloading from the INDS web site. Once the oversize occurs, operators receiving their databases via physical or web delivery will be moved to the reduced size Charts file (Rev A). Due to the nature of this memory issue operators using IDM will NOT be impacted by this limitation, and will be able to load and access their full Worldwide Charts subscription. 3 After launching the IDM application, navigate to the applicable aircraft by selecting from the list of aircraft displayed in the upper left-hand corner. IDM provides an option to download database(s) directly to media (Transfer To Device), or to the Laptop PC hard drive (Download Only) either option will allow a F8X operator to create the full Worldwide Charts subscription as described above. o o To download directly to USB media, use the button on the right labeled Transfer To Device (as shown in a further slide where a red oval draws attention to these buttons). This will create a USB with the operator s databases, based on their INDS subscription. See Transfer to USB section below. Operators that wish to subset Charts before moving the data to USB media, should select the button labeled Download Only. See Download Only & Subsetting Charts section below.

4 Download Only & Subsetting Charts: The image below shows that downloading is evident by the grayed out button which has been pressed. There are white on black messages in the upper right indicating that downloading is taking place, as well as a progress bar showing the download progress. Once the download is complete, as shown in the upper right of the image below, the Link To Subsetting (Edit Coverage) will appear. Note: this is only required if an operator wants to subset the Charts database. Once subsetting has been completed, the data is ready to be transferred to the USB media.

5 Transfer to USB: Please choose the data items you need to place on the USB from the Transfer To Device buttons on the right. Once a Transfer To Device button has been pressed, the application will prompt the user for a location for the data. Use the radio buttons on the left within the box marked Choose a Location to select a device, and select the appropriate Browse button on the right to identify the target directory for the data. Then press the Continue button.

6 In the image below the Transfer of Data has been pressed and the image is showing that transfer of Charts is in process. This is visible by the messages in the upper right as well as another progress bar displaying the data transfer. If applicable, the light on the USB media should be on as the data is written to the USB. Once the transfer is complete: The Message in the upper right changes to INDS Electronic Charts was successfully transferred. The progress bar disappears The number of Transfers Remaining is reduced by one.
