2 A) Various functionalities of the chart Click on this button to maximise the chart. Click on this button to select the timeframe, for which the charts has to be viewed. Click on this button to edit the chart. Click on this button to select the type of chart to be viewed. By default Standard is selected, which is the Candlestick chart. Click on this button to select and add the various indicators available in the charting tool. The parameter values of the indicators can be changed while adding them to the chart. Click on this button for the Crosshair display. Click on this button to zoom in on the chart. Click on this button to zoom out on the chart. Click on this button to reset zoom. Click on this button to delete any object plotted on the chart. Before clicking on this button, just select the object to be deleted Click on this button to save your settings in a file format on your system. The extension for the file will be (.scx). Click on this button to export the chart as an image file. Click on this button to save the plotted indicators as default setting. Click on this button to customize the chart colours. This setting is enabled by default. This is to refresh data automatically. Click on it to enable/disable automatic data refresh. To draw an ellipse on the chart, click on this button first and then hold and drag the left mouse on the chart, where you want to plot the ellipse To draw an Error Channel on the chart, click on this button first and then hold and drag the left mouse on the chart where you want to plot the channel. To draw a Fibonacci Arcs on the chart, click on this button first and then hold and drag the left mouse on the chart where you want to plot the indicator. To draw a Fibonacci Fan on the chart, click on this button first and then hold and drag the left mouse on the chart where you want to plot the indicator. To draw the Fibonacci Retracements on the chart, click on this button first and then hold and drag the left mouse on the chart where you want to plot the indicator. To draw the Fibonacci Time zones on the chart, click on this button first and then hold and drag the left mouse on the chart where you want to plot the indicator. To draw the Gann Fan on the chart, click on this button first and then click on the chart where you want to plot the indicator. 2

3 To draw the Quad Lines on the chart, click on this button first and then hold and drag the left mouse on the chart where you want to plot the indicator. To draw the Raff Regression on the chart, click on this button first and then hold and drag the left mouse on the chart where you want to plot the indicator. To draw the Speed Lines on the chart, click on this button first and then hold and drag the left mouse on the chart where you want to plot the indicator. To draw the Tirone Levels on the chart, click on this button first and then hold and drag the left mouse on the chart where you want to plot the levels. To draw the Trend Lines on the chart, click on this button first and then hold and drag the left mouse on the chart where you want to plot the trend line. To draw the Vertical line on the chart, click on this button first and then click on the chart where you want to plot the line. To draw a right arrow on the chart, click on this button first and then click on the chart where your want to plot the arrow. To draw a left arrow on the chart, click on this button first and then click on the chart where your want to plot the arrow. To draw a down arrow on the chart, click on this button first and then click on the chart where your want to plot the arrow. To draw a up arrow on the chart, click on this button first and then click on the chart where your want to plot the arrow. Click on this button to write on the chart. After entering the text in the given text box panel, click OK and then click on the chart, where you want the text to be displayed. The above panel can be used to zoom in and out the chart. Click on either the left or right grey button and drag accordingly. 3

4 B) The Menu Bar The Menu Bar has 2 options File and Data. Each option has sub-options that can be selected to perform the appropriate action. Sub Options available for File Load Chart Save Workspace Space Workspace as Default Load Workspace Logout This is to load the chart from the file (*.scx) which has been saved earlier by you on your system. This is to save the workspace on your system in the form of a file (*.cwf). This is to save your workspace on our database directly. Load the workspace (*.cwf) from the file saved earlier by you on your system. To log out from the application Sub Options available for Data Portfolio New Chart Stock Ticker Stock Ticker Settings This is to create the portfolio of your favourite scripts. Multiple portfolios can be created and viewed. This is to create a new chart. Display the stock ticker containing the information of the stocks and indices. To customize the stock ticker. 4

5 C) How to create a portfolio To create a portfolio of your favourite scripts, go to Data Portfolio New Portfolio Enter the name for the portfolio as shown below (For e.g. we will create a portfolio List1 ) The below screen will appear after entering OK Enter the name or code of the script that you want to add. While typing, the list of scripts will be displayed, from which you select your script; as shown below. Once the code is selected, click on Add. Similarly add the scripts that you want, one by one. 5

6 Below is an example of the sample portfolio created Charts for individual script can be created by clicking on the Create Chart button. To remove any particular script, select the script and click on Remove option. To save the portfolio, click on Save option. To view the ticker of the scripts in your portfolio, click on Apply portfolio to Stockticker option. 6

7 Quick Reference 1) Adding a new chart To add a new chart, go to Data New Chart The following panel will appear Enter the following details: a) Symbol: The NSE code of the script has to be entered. As the code is typed, a list pertaining to the letters entered will appear. You can directly select from the list that appears. b) EOD Chart / Intraday Chart: Select either one of the options for the type of chart to be viewed In case EOD Chart is selected, the Periodicity option below will be enabled and you can select Daily, Weekly, Monthly from it. In case Intraday Chart is selected, the Periodicity option below will be enabled and you can select the timeframe for which you want to view the chart. For the amount of data to be viewed (EOD or Intraday), the following options needs to be entered c) Start Date Time: Select the start date, from which you want to view the chart. d) End Date Time: Select the end data, till which you want to view the chart. 7

8 2) Modifying an existing chart To change the timeframe and number of days To edit an existing chart, click on the shown below button available on the tool bar. A dialog box will appear as You can modify the parameters as per your requirement. For amount of data to be loaded on the chart, enter the number in Day Count option. For e.g. if you enter Date as 16th Nov 2011 and Day Count as 15, it will load 15 days of data including 16th Nov

9 3) Adding an indicator To add a new indicator on the chart, click on the appears on the bar above the chart, as shown below. button (5th button from the left), that The list of indicators that are available in the charting tool will appear, as shown below. 9

10 Select the indicator that you want to plot. Once the indicator is selected, a dialog box pertaining to that indicator will open. The various parameters for that indicator can be set as per your requirement. Below is the snapshot of the dialog box that will appear After changing the parameters as desired, click OK button to plot the indicator onto the charts. 10

11 4) Modifying the colour of the indicator To modify the color and other properties of the indicator(s), which are already plotted on the chart, there are 2 ways to do it, as mentioned below. A) By clicking directly on the indicator name panel for which the color has to be changed, as shown below On clicking the name, a dialog box will appear, as shown below. The color, thickness, type and opacity for the indicator can be changed here. B) By double clicking directly on the indicator, for which the color has to be changed. The same dialog box, as shown in above figure, will appear. Please note when you double click on the indicator, small circles will appear on the indicator selected, thus ensuring that you have properly selected the indicator you want. The snapshot of the same is shown below 11

12 5) Removing the indicator To remove the upper indicators (i.e. indicators plotted on the chart), click on the indicator that you want to remove and press the button available on the toolbar. Please note when you click on the indicator, small circles will appear on the indicator selected, thus ensuring that you have properly selected the indicator you want. To remove lower indicators (plotted below the charts), click on the corner of the indicator panel. button available on the right 12

13 6) Drag and drop of the indicator One of the salient feature available in the charting tool is Drag & Drop facility. You can mainly use this feature to move the moving averages (upper indicators) on indicators plotted below the charts (lower indicators). Select the indicator that you want to move. Hold the left button of your mouse and drag it onto the indicator where you want it to be displayed. For e.g. if you have EMA 34 plotted on the chart along with Volume as shown below Select the EMA, hold the left button of the mouse and drag it onto the Volume indicator panel. The moving average will now be plotted on Volume as shown below 13

14 7) Different Views for the Chart The charts can be viewed in following fashion 1) Floating 2) Dockable 3) Tabbed Floating: This option will allow the chart to float over the workspace. You can drag them around and place them anywhere you want. You can also change its size by dragging the border. This view helps the users to place the chart as per their convenience. To get a Floating view, right click on the tab of the chart and select Floating. Below is the snapshot of 3 charts in Floating View. 14

15 Dockable: This option will allow the chart to appear side (left or right), top, or bottom of the work area or to some other window. To get a Dockable view, follow the steps given below i. Right click on tab of the chart that you want to dock, and select Dockable, as shown below ii. The chart will pop out and place itself over the workspace, as shown below. 15

16 iii. Now drag the chart, by holding the left mouse. While dragging the chart, direction arrows will appear, as shown below. Take the chart on to the arrow where you want to place the chart. For example (as per the figure shown below), you have 2 charts i.e. NIFTY-1M and MININIFTY-1M chart. You want NIFTY-1M on the left side and MININIFTY-1M on the right side. Drag the MINIFTY-1M chart and place it on the right hand side arrow that appears on the chart. On successfully placing the chart on the arrow, the view will appear as below 16
