PAGE 2 OF Enhancements for this Series 3.1. Solid Pointcloud One of LFM Server s core strengths is its ability to represent the as-built, as operated condition of an asset via all forms of scan data (hand-held, vehicle, static, airborne, etc.). Due to the recent rapid evolution of scanning technologies where data capture is now routinely performed using various sources, there is a greater ability to capture a much wider range of real world environments than ever before. For example, advances in mobile mapping systems are particularly well suited to Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC) domains such as road, rail, bridges and other linear assets. Due to the wider range of sensor technologies and application areas, there is a significant demand on a common way to combine and visualise data. In response to these industry and technology trends, AVEVA has developed the Solid Pointcloud (SPC). The SPC is a new way of rendering any as-built data in an extremely visual, solid and natural way, free of distracting visual artefacts. The SPC supports visualisation of high volumes of data covering large workspaces on both a plant and global scale. This allows users to load full assets regardless of size, then proceed to dive down into the data as and when required. You can find more information about this feature in chapters 1-4 of the HyperBubble and Solid Point Cloud Creation and Use guide.

PAGE 3 OF Named Co-ordinate Systems As data can now be georeferenced, e.g. mobile mapping data in LAS format, users now must deal with data in a variety of coordinate systems e.g. local plant frame, georeferenced, etc. Often each discipline is familiar with their own coordinate systems, as well as specific tasks being performed in different coordinate systems. This can quickly lead to multiple coordinate systems being utilised all on the same asset. Previously this was handled by having multiple copies of the laser dataset, which causes a variety of administration issues, inaccuracies and duplicate data. With LFM Server s new Named Co-ordinate System, the point cloud can now be displayed in several different coordinate systems as defined by the user. This means that one discipline can view the data from one orientation and coordinate frame, whilst another discipline toggles their preferred system. This leads to having a single Trusted Living Pointcloud for the as-built asset, whilst providing access to multiple coordinate systems. Please see AVEVA LFM s YouTube channel for a video of the new Named Coordinate Systems feature. You can also find more information about this feature in section of the LFM Server Home guide.

PAGE 4 OF Visualising Variance Improvements One of the key principles of the Trusted Living Pointcloud is the ability to verify data this means giving users the ability to confidently validate against the point cloud using LFM Server s large suite of tools. In LFM Server 4.4.2, users will now be able to visualise the variance across their data by graphically mapping colours across a selected plane, based on user-defined thresholds. Variance can be visualised horizontally, vertically or sloped each offering a unique analysis of the data. Using these tools, users can extract additional information from the data. As an example, a user can perform a horizontal variance on an area of an asset which requires a sloped run-off for drainage. Using the new variance tools, an LFM user can confidently visualise the as-built condition to ensure the area has the appropriate slope to drain effectively. This new functionality is also available to Autodesk AutoCAD users using the appropriate LFM Server CAD Link. This gives users the ability to visualise variance in their chosen CAD package, as well as produce local AutoCAD deliverables based on the variance information. With the new visualising variance toolset in place, it introduces a new way to extract information from the Trusted Living Pointcloud. The new functionality is enabling technology, setting the scene for many additional features to come to LFM Server in the future. Please see AVEVA LFM s YouTube channel for a video of the improved Visualising Variance functionality. You can also find more information about this feature in section of the LFM Server Home guide.

PAGE 5 OF ASSIMP Library Support One of the key principles of the Trusted Living Pointcloud is the ability to verify data this means giving users the ability to confidently validate against the point cloud using LFM Server s large suite of tools. In LFM Server 4.4.2, the ability to import 3D CAD models directly to LFM Server has been extended to now import both.fbx and.ifc file formats using the ASSIMP Library. Supporting the import of these file formats gives AVEVA LFM users much greater flexibility when working with 3D CAD Models, as they are widely used across multiple 3D CAD packages. Users can expect to perform the same tasks with 3D CAD models they are familiar with e.g. clashing, visual checks, etc. using these newly supported formats. Additionally, users will be able to view their models alongside the various supported point cloud visualisation techniques e.g. 3D Points, BubbleView, Solid Pointcloud, etc., giving users the ability to view their model in the most appropriate viewing format. LFM Server supports the.fbx and.ifc formats through use of the ASSIMP Library an open asset import library for handling various well-known 3D model formats in a uniform manner. Using this library, LFM Server will be able to handle additional formats in the future LAS for Geomatics Users Dynamic scanning, whether from trucks, aircrafts, or satellites, is becoming more routinely used to capture the asbuilt condition of assets. Unlike static scanning, where each scan is taken from a single position, vehicle based scanning provides a continuous stream of 3D data which can continue as long as the vehicle is moving. The data type used to store the output from these sources is primarily the LAS format and as these data capture mechanisms

PAGE 6 OF 13 are used in the capture of large geographic areas it is normal to capture the data in a georeferenced form rather than a plant or building co-ordinate system. LFM Server accepts LAS data that has been georeferenced, either by accepting the imbedded information within the LAS file as meta-data, or by adding the information when imported. LFM Server uses the Earth Centered Earth Fixed (ECEF) cartesian co-ordinate system to avoid any issues with multiple LAS scans in different projects. LFM Server users are now able to import and navigate LAS formats from a variety of sources, regardless of co-ordinate system, confident their data will be representative of the as-built condition of their asset Global Co-ordinate System Support LFM Server was initially developed to handle plant co-ordinate systems with datasets being local and typically covering up to 2.5Km. Now with the advent of mobile mapping, data is being captured for assets which span a much larger distance e.g. a pipeline connecting pumping stations. Data from LAS sources can sometimes span in excess of 1000s of kilometres this poses a difficulty for users wanting to fly through the data smoothly and accurately. Due to the recent developments made to handle georeferenced LAS data, LFM Server has been improved to allow users to navigate data which spans across extremely large areas. LFM s recent updates now allow users to access and navigate to their Trusted Living Pointcloud, regardless of the distance spanned across the globe Flying Controls and Large Model Support Due to recent advances in 3D graphical processing, AVEVA is now harnessing more of a system s graphical capabilities to display your imported 3D CAD model and laser data. With more power and better object rendering techniques, users can expect to import larger and more complex models, as well as richer point clouds. This benefits users by allowing reviews alongside their laser data, as well as increasing confidence that LFM Server will handle their most complex asset models and point clouds. As expected, models will be visible alongside the various supported point cloud visualisation techniques e.g. 3D Points, BubbleView, Solid Pointcloud, etc., giving users the ability to view their model in the most appropriate viewing format Interoperability Improvements One of AVEVA s goals is to continuously update and expand on the scan source formats LFM Server can import. Currently, LFM Server can import an extensive range of formats, from a variety of scanner manufacturers. To further expand on this core functionality, import improvements have been made to handle scans from Leica P20, P30 and P40 scanners and Z+F 5016 scanners in accordance with Leica and Z+F s latest updates. Additionally, further refinement has been made to the import of industry neutral formats (e.g. E57), to further support recent product releases to the market such as the Leica BLK scanner. These improvements give users an even wider range of laser scanners to choose from when scanning their assets. Knowing LFM Server can handle a variety of scan formats allows users to use the right tool for the job service providers use their extensive expertise to capture the as-built condition of their asset with the scanner of their choosing, confident that LFM Server is ready to handle their data Support for AutoCAD 2019, Navisworks 2019 and Revit 2019 New for LFM Server ! LFM Server now includes support for AutoCAD 2019, Navisworks 2019 (Manage and Simulate) and Revit 2019.

PAGE 7 OF Known Issues LFM-3313 LFM-2196 On conversion of.zfs files, as well as the standard outputs (.zfc,.int,.png etc.) a.zfsh file is produced for each scan. These files are not required to use the data in LFM Server: Server Mode and so do not need to be delivered by Service Providers. A fix for this issue will be available in the next release of LFM Server. Clashing objects from PDMS not shown in LFM Server after running an exact clash and turning CAD objects on in LFM Server. LFM-2223 Edge mode does not work in SmartPlant Review LFM-2196 B3692 B5195 Clashing PDMS objects are not displayed in LFM Server on selecting CAD OBJ button after performing an exact clashing. Importing an.lfm project file into another.lfm project file gives the wrong target positions resulting in red traffic lights for all targets. To get around this please update the scan headers in the source projects and add the updated.zfc files to a new project. This will result in one project containing all scans that are registered correctly. LFM Server: Gateway Mode expects and supports the following variant of.ptx file: AVEVA are aware of some instances of.ptx files that do not match the format above. AVEVA will look to incorporate support for these variants as and when they become known. However, any variations on this format are susceptible to problems (including crashes or failure to convert). This includes failure to convert with the error "Failed to create a.zfc file, Intensity and Image files PATH.int! Disk Full?"

PAGE 13 OF Product QA cycle: The development philosophy used to produce AVEVA LFM Server applies AGILE principles to ensure a high-quality product which evolves to match customer requirements. Throughout the development cycle, test and evaluation is used to guide the process and minimise the final test overhead. The final test process has three stages, and this document has been prepared after these have been completed. These stages are outlined below Individual Function Test All LFM Server desktop functionality is examined for correct responses. Functions called from the Main Menubar, Main Toolbar, Modelling Toolbars, and Component Browser are tested in turn. This ensures that the functionality matches the design intent, and previously recorded errors have been fixed Destructive Test This section of the test schedule is aimed at investigating to see if a software product exhibits proper behaviour when subjected to improper usage, or improper input. The tests are applied to different data samples, machines, and in a random manner to try to replicate 'real world' variations in user conditions Software Acceptance Tests AVEVA concludes the LFM Server test cycle with a series of controlled examples aimed at simulating real life use situations. The finished models are QA checked against calibrated historical data, to ensure that the product maintains the previous output standard.
