43 STEP 0: Install and configure server 0 Install and configure server as stated in: Teamcenter Engineering Base Installation for Windows Publication Number eng00004 B Notes: UG does not have to be installed on the server I-DEAS 10m2 does not have to be installed on the server NX manager must be installed on the server Do not install software into directories containing spaces: C:\Program Files\ is not a good place to install! We installed everything in subdirectories under C:\EDS\ I-DEAS Team directory must be shared iman data directory must be shared 43

44 STEP 0: Install and configure server 0 We use this trick to keep the ideas_param10.dat in one location for the server and clients on the server. Before installing I-DEAS on the server: Manually create a folder named team e.g c:\eds\team Share the c:\eds\team drive Map the c:\eds\team drive back to the server as the T: drive Install I-DEAS and put all data into the T: drive The ideas parameter file should now be in: T:\Master\Config\ideas_param10.dat 44

45 STEP 1: Install I-DEAS 10m2 on Client 1 (Before you install I-DEAS, map drive from TCEng Server as data directory, must use the same drive letter) Note new I-DEAS startup screen even though no TCEng files have been installed. 45

75 STEP 5: Install IRM on Client 5 Where you unzipped the IRM: double click on v811 folder double click on the iman0811 folder double click on iman folder The drag all these folders into the IMAN_ROOT directory. 75

76 STEP 5: Install IRM on Client 5 Navigate to the Portal directory where you unzipped the IRM, double click on PortalViewer_Win_8_1_0_2.exe Click Next three times. Installion is complete. 76

77 STEP 5: Install IRM on Client 5 Now is tough part. You need to find the portal.bat file and the portal.bat.template files and change some stuff. Review the Readme. 77

93 Tip 1: Path errors Tips No spaces in PATH! C:\Documents and Settings\td26\Local Settings\Temp is the default and BAD! 93

94 Tip 2: Manually installing Orbix for I-DEAS: Tips Login as a user with administrative privileges Click Start --> Run and type in cmd to get to a command prompt. Change directories to your I-DEAS install directory and into the \bin directory Example: cd c:\eds\i-deas10\bin Run the setup_varbs.cmd file: setup_varbs.cmd Change directories to the I-Deas 10 install directory: Example: cd c:\eds\i-deas10\install Run the orbix forced removal command: orbixe2ainstall.exe /r /f Run the orbix install command: orbixe2ainstall.exe /i You should now be able to start I-DEAS and use the translators that are dependent upon Orbix. 94

95 Tip 3: Failure to configure the Team Center Engineering database for NX Manager I-DEAS Tips Processes: 0, Alive: 0, Dead: 0, Remote: 0, Other: 0 Attempting to Regenerate the schema file Regenerated the schema file Install terminated successfully Attempting to generate a transmit file for the current version of the schema. Started POM v *** Error handler received error code *** [OM_write_file failed to open C:\EDS\IMAN0811\pom_transmit\dds_is_ _2_Q168YTSwFJPf7A.om_sch (errno 2)] *** Caught an error while installing... aborting! To fix this error copy the pom_transmit folder from the IMAN directory of the server into the IMAN directory of the client 95

96 Tip 4: Error attaching to FLEXlm Tips This error is commonly found on machines that have never run Unigraphics To fix this you must manually set the environment variable UGII_LICENSE_FILE to point to your TCEng license 96

97 Tip 5: Failure to launch the External data Manager Tips To fix this check that the environment variable EDS_IMAN in the ideas_envv.cmd file points to your IDNPortal.bat file if X%EDS_IMAN% == X set EDS_IMAN=C:\EDS\LSE0811\IDNPortal.bat My ideas_envv.cmd file lives in C:\EDS\I-DEAS10\ideas\ 97
