Setting up The Edge Follow these steps to set up The Edge server components: 1. Connect The Edge server to your network. Plug the Cat-5 cable (labeled To Network ) into the network port on the back of The Edge server. Connect the other end of the cable to the network hub, wall jack or switch. 2. Connect the video adaptor to the back of The Edge server and the video port to a television. If the TV does not have an S-video port (or you do not have an S-Video cable), then you will use the S-video-to-composite adaptor. Connect the S-video-to-composite adaptor to the back of The Edge server. Connect one end of the composite video cable to the S- video-to-composite adaptor; then connect the other end of the composite cable to the TV. If you have an S-video cable and the TV has an S-video port, you will connect one end of the S-video cable (not included) into the back of The Edge server and the other end into the TV. This connection will result in better video quality. NOTE: For customers who want to connect to a high picture quality television, you need to purchase a dvi cable from your local electronics supply store. CAESY Enterprise 7.0 Pg 7 of

3. Connect the audio port to a television. Connect the stereo audio cable from the Audio Out port on the server to the back of the TV. The audio port is green. NOTE: Different manufacturers will have different layouts for the video and audio ports on their televisions. The following illustrations show all of the port layouts for only one model from one manufacturer. If available, check the port layouts in the user guide that came with your television. CAESY Enterprise 7.0 Pg 8 of

4. Connect The Edge server to an electrical outlet. Plug the power cord into the power outlet on the back of the server. Plug the other end of the power cord into a three-prong electrical outlet. NOTE: Before plugging in the power cord, check the back of the server to ensure that the correct voltage for your country is selected. By default, the switch is set to U.S. voltage standards. The switch is located directly underneath the power outlet. We strongly recommend that you protect your computer equipment and data with a surge protector and attach a battery powered back-up unit on The Edge server in the event of a power outage. 13 Installing CAESY Enterprise 7.0 About the installation CD The primary job of the installation CD is to install CAESY Enterprise 7.0 and its programs. However, it also contains other files that install additional support programs. The installation program installs support programs in a specific order. For advanced computer users, the installation CD contains a subdirectory for each of the support programs. You can install these programs individually by opening its directory and double-clicking the installation executable file (.exe extension on the filename). The CD also contains some programs that are not automatically installed. They are included only to help CAESY technical support teams troubleshoot problems. Automatically installed CAESY Enterprise 7.0 programs Three programs are included automatically when you install CAESY Enterprise 7.0: CAESY 7.0 CAESY Smile Channel 7.0 ShowCase 7.0 Automatically installed support programs The disk automatically installs three support programs: Macromedia Shockwave 10 Macromedia Flash Player 9 Microsoft Windows Media Player 9 The five programs in the list below automatically install if the same program or a newer version does not already exist on the workstation: DivX 6.4 Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 After you connect The Edge to your network, there are essentially four steps to install CAESY Enterprise 7.0 on your network and begin to educate patients and help your practice grow. Basically, you will select either Next or Yes on each screen during installation; however the individual steps are explained in detail in this section. We recommend that you select the default settings whenever an option is offered. If you want to select a different setting but are unsure what will happen if you do, please contact a Customer Support representative at from 8 A.M. to 7 P.M. Central Time, Monday-Thursday and 7 A.M. to 6 P.M. Central Time, Friday. LiveHelp support is available online at from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. Central Time, Monday-Friday. Also, please be aware that any time you see the words the server, they are referencing The Edge server, not your network server. Do not connect any computer peripherals (CPU, keyboard, monitor, mouse) to The Edge server. Think of The Edge server as a mail delivery truck. No mail can be delivered until the truck unloads its cargo at the main postal station, which is your workstation (CPU, keyboard, monitor, mouse). CAESY Enterprise 7.0 Pg 10 of

What to do if the IP address in Step A4 does not start with , or the Subnet Mask number is not and CAESY does not open *(from A4) This means that the addresses of The Edge server and your network are different and they can t talk to each other. Think of your network and The Edge server addresses as telephone area codes. The Edge server cannot make long distance calls, and your network is long distance. Once your network has the local area code, they will be able to talk to each other. Before you begin the next series of B and C steps, close all programs that need access to your network, such as practice management software, , etc. B1 B2 Click the START button at the left side of the Taskbar that is typically docked at the bottom of the desktop screen. Select Settings, then Control Panel. If you have a different Windows version than was used for this example, you would select Control Panel from the list in the center portion of the blue column. B3 Double-click on the Network Connection icon. B4 Double-click on Local Area Connection. CAESY Enterprise 7.0 Pg 21 of

B5 Click on Properties. B6 In the next window, look in the list for Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click on it to highlight it. B7 Click on Properties. CAESY Enterprise 7.0 Pg 22 of

,B8 Write a note indicating which selection is checked in the upper portion of the box and the numbers in the IP address and Subnet mask fields. Also notice that whatever selection is checked in the upper portion of the dialogue box, the companion selection is most likely checked in the lower portion of the box. In other words, both sections will most likely be checked as Obtain... or Use..., not a combination of both. Check Use the following IP address if its radio button is not already checked. (You will use this important selection later in C6.) B9 Type in and press the <TAB> key. The Subnet mask information should automatically fill in. If it does not, type in the Subnet mask field. B10 B11 B12 B13 Press OK on each screen to save and close the open screens. NOTE: Depending on which version of Windows you have on your computer, the screens may have a Close option rather than OK. Finally, close Network Connections, Control Panel or any other window. Open your Internet Explorer. If you receive the pop-up message Page cannot be displayed, ignore it; the message is a normal event. Delete the address in the uppermost address field. CAESY Enterprise 7.0 Pg 23 of

B14 Type in /edge and press <ENTER>. This takes you to the CAESY Setup Page. B15 You will change the IP address in the CAESY Setup Page. It is important to make sure the first three sections of numbers from Step A3 exactly match. Type in the first three sections of your IP address, for example, ; you can leave the last section of numbers as they appear. B16 The Subnet mask numbers have to match exactly. Type in the numbers you wrote down from the command prompt window in Step A3. B17 B18 Click Save Settings. This automatically restarts The Edge server. A restart takes 3 4 minutes. When the server restart is complete, close the window. Final Steps! C1 C2 Click the START button at the left side of the Taskbar that is typically docked at the bottom of the desktop screen. Select Control Panel. CAESY Enterprise 7.0 Pg 24 of

C3 Double-click on Network Connections. C4 Right click on Local Area Connection and select Properties. C5 Again, find and click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in the list. CAESY Enterprise 7.0 Pg 25 of

C6 C7 Click on Properties. The information you wrote down in Step B8 is important in this step. The checked radio buttons in this screen must match the checked radio buttons in Step B8. For example, if Obtain IP address automatically was the original selection checked in Step B8, check it again here, and also check its companion in the lower portion of the screen. Notice that this screenshot shows that this user checked an incorrect combination of selections. The upper and lower selections must match. Refer to Step B8. The IP address and Subnet mask numbers from Step B8 must also be duplicated in this screen. Type in the numbers obtained from Step B8. Press OK on each screen to save and close the open screens. NOTE: Depending on which version of Windows you have on your computer, the screens may have a Close option rather than OK. You have successfully installed and configured CAESY Enterprise 7.0 on one workstation. CAESY Enterprise 7.0 must be installed on each workstation that will be used for patient presentations. To install CAESY Enterprise 7.0 on other workstations, use the same instructions in Installing CAESY Enterprise 7.0. Need additional assistance? You may encounter a situation which is not addressed in this set of instructions. If that occurs, there are other steps that will need to be performed, but we strongly urge only someone who has advanced computer knowledge and skills to attempt those steps without the assistance of one of our knowledgeable customer service representatives. If you have a systems administrator or IT personnel, they typically will be able to perform those steps without additional instruction. To speak to a Customer Support representative, call from 8 A.M. to 7 P.M. Central Time, Monday-Thursday and 7 A.M. to 6 P.M. Central Time, Friday. If you have any further questions, call a Customer Support representative at from 8 A.M. to 7 P.M. Central Time, Monday-Thursday and 7 A.M. to 6 P.M. Central Time, Friday. Where should I keep The Edge server? Which computer should I use to configure The Edge server? Why do I have to change the computer workstation s IP address to connect to the System Setup Page? If I change the default IP address of The Edge server, will I be able to change it again later? I press the power switch on The Edge server, but nothing happens. My operatory computer will not connect to The Edge server. On the Server menu, click Server Shutdown. Do not press the Power button on the server to shut it down. We recommend that you restart The Edge server every week. Doing so allows the server to recover system resources. See Safety Precautions for suggestions. If you have a multiple-user license, you can use any computer that is connected to the network. If you have a single-user license, use the computer where you plan to use CAESY Enterprise 7.0 programs. Do not use a computer that acts as a server or that has a direct connection to a high-speed modem, such as cable or DSL. In order to access the System Setup Page, the workstation must be able to communicate with The Edge server. The Edge server ships with predefined network settings that may differ from your network s current settings. By changing the computer s IP address, you allow it to communicate with The Edge server, which then allows you to open CAESY Enterprise 7.0. Yes. You should always be able to open the System Setup Page, no matter what IP address you choose for The Edge server, so you can always change it. See Configuring CAESY to Work With Your Network for instructions. If you cannot open the System Setup Page, call Customer Support representative at from 8 A.M. to 7 P.M. Central Time, Monday-Thursday and 7 A.M. to 6 P.M. Central Time, Friday. LiveHelp support is available online at from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. Central Time, Monday-Friday. Check the following possibilities: Ensure that The Edge server is plugged into a functional outlet. Ensure that the plug is plugged firmly into both the server and the outlet. Bypass any power protection devices, power strips, etc. to determine if they are malfunctioning. Check the following possibilities: Ensure that you have used the installation disk to install the required software on the operatory computer. Verify that the operatory computer is plugged into your network. Ensure that The Edge server is turned on. If you have recently reconfigured any network setting, restart The Edge server.
