1 T I P S H E ET Overview If you re a Windows 7 user on a CoreImage device, making the transition to Windows 10 should not be difficult. At first glance, there are very few differences. Use this two-column tip sheet to help you make the switch when using a few of the most common Windows functions. In this tip sheet, the Windows 7 functions are always shown on the left and the matching or new Windows 10 functions are shown on the right. For detailed explanations of most of the Windows 10 functions contained in this Crosswalk, refer to the Getting Started with Windows 10 Reference Guide. WINDOWS 7 The Desktop: WINDOWS 10 The Desktop A In Windows 10, the desktop looks almost identical to Windows 7. 3 WINDOWS 7 The Start Menu opens by clicking the button. From there you can open a program, list all programs, or perform a search. WINDOWS 10 The Start Menu opens by clicking the button. From there you can access most used apps, all apps, and app tiles. The biggest difference in Windows 10 s File Explorer is the addition of a ribbon area: A The ribbon has these tabs: File: A drop-down for opening new windows, changing folder & search options, pinning a list of frequent folders Computer: View file properties, map network drives, and more View: Changing to a preview/detail pane; changing between tile, small icon, and list views; toggling file extension views on/off, toggling between showing hidden items, and more Crosswalk-Win7toWin10-Draft3.docx Page 9 of 11
