The EOF advisors have nurtured me to become a better student and have helped me discover what path I want to take. They took their time to work with me and develop my academic skills, and helped me improve in the areas that I was not as strong in. I am very grateful for that. What role has the EOF program played in your academic, personal, and professional development? EOF has not only helped me develop as a student but it allowed me to meet many new people with similar interests, and allowed me gain new connections and friends. What things have motivated you to continue striving for academic success and professional growth? My family is my motivation for everything I do. I want to be a positive example for the younger ones and the order generation can take pride in my accomplishments. What advice or message would you like to leave to current and/or future EOF students? My number one rule is to have integrity. Everything that you do in life, whether social or academic, must be done with integrity. It will take you a long way, trust me. What would you say is your philosophy in life? In my life I genuinely believe that you can achieve anything you put your mind to. As cliché as it may sound, I feel as though I am a prime example of it. You can only be as big as your thoughts so I do my best to think big. When you are not studying and engaging academic life, how do you spend your free time? I am an artist so I like to spend my time creating...anything and everything. One minute I can be painting on canvas, then painting on a table if I run out of paper, or building something out of nothing. Somina Mosaku
3 E O F M O N T H L Y N E W S L E T T E R P A G E 3 EOF Student Alliance & upcoming events ixteen EOF students gathered on Jan. 24 for our bi- S annual Welcome Back Reception and Alliance Kick Off. Our spacious office has allowed us to have these events right in our main area the past few semesters, and the table becomes like the kitchen table at home with everyone gathered around for food and conversation! As usual, we went over upcoming events and some changes within the college, EOF, and other important information. Most of the students stayed for the Alliance meeting, which covered open seats for officers and ideas for upcoming events and fundraisers. One idea mentioned by Devon Smith, our current President, was to make Easter baskets for underprivileged children in group homes, and also a special EOF Kick Off event on campus to showcase EOF and help get the word out about the program. In addition, a call for unwant- EOF student leadership program! T W HAT IS IT? he EOF Student Leadership is a program designed for those who would like to be more involved in the EOF program logistics. You can be an event volunteer, conduct peer tutoring if that s your talent, and be EOF s student voice; while earning valuable workshop and community service credits! This is in addition to your already active EOF Alliance club participation, if you are a current member. You do not need to be involved in the EOF Alliance to be considered an EOF Student Leader, although it is an asset. Requirements: Maintain a 2.6 GPA or higher Full time & Part time students in good standing Outgoing and comfortable speaking in public (with other CCM students, faculty and staff) Minimum participation of 2 EOF events/activities per year such as: EOF Awards Dinner Reception Kwanzaa Celebration EOF Parent Orientation EOF Summer Orientation EOF State Conferences/Events Workshop credit What do you gain as an EOF Student Leader? Public speaking experience. Reference for future jobs and/or ed new items from the holidays, and/ or asking employers to donate gift cards was announced in support of our upcoming EOF Tricky Tray fundraiser. The next meeting will be Thurs, Jan. 31, 2-3, in the EOF office. Future meeting dates will be decided at that time so check your EOF blasts or the bulletin board for upcoming meeting details. four year colleges. Something extra to add to your resume or personal profile. A great way to complete your EOF community service and workshop requirements. Network with other students and members of the CCM community. Work closely with the entire EOF staff. Receive an EOF student leader polo. If you are interested, please contact Pam Marcenaro, Director, at , or at or stop by the EOF office.

All students are STRONGLY encouraged to seek tutoring in the course of a semester; number of sessions should be scheduled based on need. If you are currently taking a remedial course and/or your professor has indicated the need for a tutor, you must attend tutoring at least once a week. If your schedule does not permit weekly tutoring, you are required to schedule a minimum of 2 tutoring sessions during the semester. Your EOF funding privileges could be revoked for the following semester, if you fail to comply. You need to attend 4 workshops; the schedule is in your EOF mailbox, along with other important upcoming information. Eight hours of community service are required by the end of this semester, many opportunities will be right on campus. See the Community Service on-campus listing in your box. CHECK THE KIOSK, YOUR CCM DAILY AND YOUR EOF MAILBOX OFTEN! The measure of success is not whether you have a tough problem to deal with, but whether it is the same problem you had last year.
