1 TConnect 1. Introduction TConnect is an easy, free of charge solution providing access to remote TBox. Its main task is accessing TBox web pages through modem. But it supports also direct TCP/IP communication, to access TBox through Ethernet or GPRS. Besides easy connection, TConnect supports an embedded browser that avoids the use of Internet Explorer. TConnect replaces the legacy TBox Dial it! utility, which was not available as of Windows VISTA. Ver September 05,

2 2. Installation You can download TConnect Setup on Once it has been downloaded, run TConnectSetup.msi. TConnect Setup makes the following operations: It copies all necessary files in the chosen directory It creates automatically a dial-up entry for each modem installed in Windows. Each dial-up entre takes the name of the modem. If you wish to install modem(s) after having installed TConnect, run the utility to create dialup entry, from the installation directory of TConnect:..\Program Files\CSE-Seamphore\TConnect\TConnectRASEntryUtility.exe This operation requires administrator rights. Example with 2 modems Check whether Microsoft.NET FrameWork version 3.5 is installed on your PC. Verification is carried out at the beginning of the installation and when it has not been installed, it prompts you to download and install it from the Microsoft website. Ver September 05,

3 3. PhoneBook.dat vs PhoneBook.xml TBox Dial It!, the previous dialer utility, stored all connection data in a file called PhoneBook.dat. TConnect uses now an XML file called PhoneBook.xml to store data. This file is located in the directory: <UserFolder>\AppData\Roaming\CSE-Semaphore\TConnect. However, TConnect gives you the possibility to import your existing PhoneBook.dat through the menu TConnect Import Ver September 05,

4 4. TConnect Overview TConnect is composed of 3 main windows: A. On the left, the folders tree similar to Windows Explorer. This tree allows organizing or sorting your TBox by categories, sites, regions,. B. On the right top, the Explorer and the Viewer. The Explorer: displays the list of TBox contained in the currently selected folder. Each entry is called station. The Viewer: displays the webpages of TBox. C. On the right bottom, the list of TBox currently connected. Each time you start a new connection to a TBox, it will be added in this list. Once the connection is closed, it is removed from the list. 5 5. Creating a new station There are two ways of creating a new station. Either you use the contextual menu or you right-click in the list of Stations and click New Station. Once created right-click the station and edit its properties: Ver September 05,

6 6. Station Properties ID : Type the name of the TBox Description: Type a description Modem Phone number: Type the phone number, including dial prefix, country code if TBox is abroad. Connect To : Select the dial-up entry corresponding to the modem you want to use. WebPage: If there is no webpage named index.htm in your TBox, type the page to display. Connection requires credentials: check this option if the connection requires a username and a password. This is the case if you enable the security on the modem communication port in TWinSoft ( RTU properties Security ). Ethernet URL: Type the URL starting without Ex : /mypage.htm demo-tbox.cse-semaphore.com/events.htm Ver September 05,

7 7. Launch a connection You have two options to activate a connection to a station. Either you select the station in the Explorer window and use the contextual menu or you right-click the station. Whatever the menu you use, TConnect always gives you the possibility to connect the station through Ethernet (Ethernet Link) or through modem (RAS Dial). As soon as the connection is started, you can view the connection status in the right bottom window. Launching a modem connection may interrupt all existing LAN connections due to Windows Routing rules. Ver September 05,

8 If the connection succeeds, the Station icon is grayed and the homepage is automatically loaded and can be displayed in the Viewer (if there was no page defined in station properties, it uses index.htm ). The Viewer gives you some additional functionality such as a standard browser does. The Back and Forward buttons are only usable for the current connected station. As soon as you change the station using the Station combo box, the historic is lost. The Page text box allows typing the webpage you want to access. In this field, you just have to type the name of the webpage, it does not support complete URL like Ver September 05,
