4 Ribbon interface overview Ribbon interface overview The menus and toolbars in Space Planning and Floor Planning have been replaced by a ribbon interface. One of the most significant user interface changes in several years, this design was reviewed by a customer focus group whose feedback was incorporated into the final design. Adjustments were made to minimize the change management impact on existing users. This document describes how to access application features in compared to earlier versions. The comparisons are based on the drop-down menus, where applicable, in prior versions of the applications. However, many of the former menu entries were also mapped to toolbar buttons. The new ribbon interface with its tabs, groups, and buttons provides access to application features in a centralized location. Note: The existing screen captures in this document are from the version. Some of the existing menu entries may not be visible on your system if you are using an earlier version. Core business benefits The ribbon has been built using familiar controls and visual styling cues for more efficient access to application features. Tool tips and shortcut keys, if available, are displayed when you hover the mouse over a button or group in the ribbon. The ribbon and Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) can be customized.
