4 1. Design and Installation Guide This Zoneworks XT guide is designed as a quick reference or basic overview for system designers and installers. It summarizes the main requirements for a typical Zoneworks XT installation and can be used as an instruction tool for electrical contractors. This document does not cover every detail such as configuring for off-site or integrated network installations, but following this guide will ensure a successful installation which can then be configured for other options if required Design and installation summary Zoneworks XT uses a combination of IP and power line signalling to communicate with devices on the network. Zoneworks XT Emergency Lighting Controllers (ZXTELCs) are installed at electrical distribution boards where emergency lighting is present. The ZXTELCs are connected via an Ethernet network back to the server running Zoneworks XT software. The ZXTELCs autonomously manage their network of emergency fittings by coupling a Power Line signal onto the emergency lighting circuits. The ZXTELCs will take requests from the server to perform actions such as commissioning, querying fittings or scheduling tests Example Topology The Zoneworks XT Server is the intelligence hub of the system. It holds the database, group testing schedules and network communications hardware. The server is usually located on site, but it can be located off site and manage the system remotely over the internet. Scheduled test results and real time status updates are stored and processed by the server for compliance, maintenance and log book reports. Manual or automatic tests can be initiated from the server, as well as system maintenance such as uploading firmware updates and configuration information. Typically, the Zoneworks XT Server is connected to the same Ethernet network as the ZXTELCs. This Ethernet network is wired to all distribution boards that will have a ZXTELC installed. At these distribution boards, ZXTELCs are installed to communicate with each emergency luminaire over the Mains Supply wiring. Version /08/2015 Page 4 of 48
5 1.3. System Design A PC Server is permanently connected to an Ethernet network and provides a means of significantly enhancing the capabilities of the system. The network consists of the Zoneworks XT Server connected to an Ethernet network of ZXTELCs and the luminaires are connected to the ZXTELCs, via power line. There is a strong focus on extended and remote connectivity. Where extended connectivity is required the Zoneworks System can utilise network connectivity over LAN/WAN and the internet for interconnection between buildings. Remote control/monitoring is achieved allowing external access to the Zoneworks XT servers web site System backbone a) An Ethernet network must be run from the Server location to each ZXTELC. This network may be an independent network or part of existing LAN/WAN infrastructure. b) Allow enough space within each relevant electrical distribution board cupboard to install the ZXTELC. Each ZXTELC will require 3-Phase coupling to the distribution board, optionally it can be powered by a separate 240v supply. ZXTELC installation details are found within the ZXTELC Installation instructions which are included in the Appendix. ZXTELC Dimensions: 380mm W x 190mm H x 135mm D. Please see the Clevertronics Zoneworks XT Systems Schematics in the Appendix for comprehensive installation and wiring details. Version /08/2015 Page 5 of 48
6 1.5. Compiling the Luminaire Register For smooth commissioning and end user operation, it is essential that accurate emergency luminaire information is compiled during installation. All the information you would normally require for a manual emergency lighting log book is also required for the Zoneworks system. Luminaire description, location, distribution board and circuit breaker information must be accurately recorded for the Zoneworks Luminaire Register. All Zoneworks emergency luminaires should be labelled with the Barcode (Neuron ID) and a user generated reference (Fitting Ref) at the time of installation. The labels should be clearly visible on the luminaire, and must be recorded accurately for successful system operation. All other information is entered into the luminaire register by the system installer. Clevertronics supply the above template for recording the required information (in electronic and hard copies) as part of the complete installation information. Several Barcode labels are provided with each luminaire. One label must be applied to the luminaire and one label must be entered or scanned into the luminaire register (sticking the barcode label to construction drawings is optional). Note: The Neuron ID (barcode) and Gateway Ref (reference to the ZXTELC the fitting will be commissioned to), are the minimum required fields, and the Luminaire Type is assigned automatically at the time of installation. Commissioning of the ZoneWorks System shall be in accordance with the ZoneWorks XT Commissioning Guide. Version /08/2015 Page 6 of 48
7 1.6. Software The Zoneworks XT Software is designed to provide a simple but very powerful interface to the network of Zoneworks devices. Features: Group Test Scheduling Visualization of the Network Topology and Devices Web interface Intuitive menu and command structure User accounts & roles to moderate access to system functionality such as commissioning The Zoneworks XT software runs on the Clevertronics Zoneworks XT Server, the user interface is hosted in a web server allowing access to the system from any pc or mobile device over LAN/WAN or the internet. Usage Port Type Web Server 80 TCP FTP 21 TCP Telnet 23 TCP 2.2. The Zoneworks XT Software The Zoneworks XT software is made up of 2 parts, an always running windows service and a web server as the user interface. Both the windows service and web server are configured to automatically run under the system account and will always run at start-up regardless of whether a user has logged into the PC. As tests are managed autonomously by the ZXTELCs, the server is not required to be running for scheduled tests to run once the tests have been programmed to the ZXTELC. However it is advised to have the server running to allow access to the system and to ensure all ZXTELCs are synchronised with the server. The web page is accessible on the server at or from another device on the network at where hostname is the host name or ip address of the server. On the server the web client can be opened by double clicking the shortcut named Zoneworks XT on the desktop.

This display shows the devices and relevant status information at the time of the last update. If a device is marked with a Red X then it is faulty, otherwise the device is OK. A faulty status may be a result of AC lamp out, battery not charging, communication failure or a failure for the most recent discharge / function test. Controllers The controllers section allows navigation of the system by individual controllers. Fittings will be displayed by the specific controller they are commissioned to. Select one of the controllers in the sidebar to display all the devices commissioned to the controller. Groups Groups are totally abstract and have no relation to the controller structure, for example one group may contain fittings from many controllers. Network management devices such as repeaters are not visible in groups. Select a group to display all of the fittings in the group. Version /08/2015 Page 11 of 48
12 Filtering The main view has a control for filtering. If text is typed into the filter text box then only fittings which match (contain) the entered text will be displayed. This filter is limited to the current sidebar selection and will not search the entire system for a match. Sorting The main view has a control for sorting devices. By default all devices will be sorted by their device reference. This can be changed to sort by status to easily find fittings by their status. Version /08/2015 Page 12 of 48

To display the fittings in a group click the group on the sidebar or right click the group and select View Devices. Group types The group settings define how fittings are handled when discharge tests are completed on fittings. There are two group types default & re-test. Default groups are where fittings reside permanently. When a test completes on a default group all passed fittings will remain in the group. Optionally failed fittings can be kept in the same group or moved to a re-test group. When fittings are in a re-test group they will still exist in the default group however their display will be ghosted to indicate they are currently in a re-test group. Re-test groups are used to re-test fittings that have failed a discharge. When a discharge test completes on a re-test group; passed fittings can remain in the group or be moved back to their default group (out of the re-test group). Re-test groups may also optionally move their failed fittings to another re-test group for further testing. Creating a group A group can be created by selecting Grouping Add Group from the toolbar at the top of the page. Enter a name for the group then select the group options as shown below, and click Add Group to create it. Group type default / re-test, see above. Parent collection the parent folder on the sidebar to place this group in. Move failures to - the re-test group that fittings will be moved to when a discharge test has been failed. Move passed to default if checked then fittings that pass a discharge test will be moved back to their default group and out of the re-test group. Version /08/2015 Page 31 of 48
32 Editing a group Groups can be edited to change their settings as required. The only field that can t be changed is the group type. To edit a group open its dialog by right clicking and selecting View Details, then click on Edit Group. Edit the name, parent collection and handling of passed / failed discharge tests as required, before clicking Save to submit the changes. Moving Devices between Groups Devices can be moved between groups independent of the controller they are commissioned to. This is used when structuring groups for testing. Click hold and drag mouse around fitting icons to select. Once fittings have been selected, click and drag the selected fittings and drop them onto the desired group on the sidebar. As soon as the fittings are dropped on the new group the system will move them to the new group and update the grouping on all the ZXTELCs. The view will update to indicate the change, in the example below the fittings were moved from a default to a re-test group, so they are now ghosted in the default group. Version /08/2015 Page 32 of 48
33 Groups Folders Folders can be added to the group structure to control the layout and view of the fitting groups. This is used to create collections of groups by building or area. Discharge tests can then be scheduled by these folders allowing multiple groups to be tested with a single request. To create a groups folder select Grouping Add Groups Folder and select a name. Groups can be moved into these folders in the same way fittings are moved into a group click and drag to select groups, then drag the groups onto the folder. Version /08/2015 Page 33 of 48

Group/Folder select the actual group / folder to test. This field can be automatically filled by selecting a group or folder in the sidebar. Frequency - how often the test will run. The options are Once Off, 3-Monthly, 6-Monthly, 12- Monthly. If any option other than Once Off is selected then the test will be continually re-scheduled at the given frequency until it is aborted. Test Duration the pass rate of the discharge test. There are three options, a 1min function test, a standard 90min or 120min discharge test. 120min is required for the first discharge test. Retest in 24hrs checking this will cause the re-test group of any groups being tested to be scheduled to re-run the same test in 24hrs. This way any failed fittings can be automatically retested. This field is only applicable to discharge tests (90 or 120 minutes). As soon as the test is submitted it will be added to the table and the system will program the test to all of the ZXTELCs. When this is complete the test state will change to programmed. Version /08/2015 Page 34 of 48
35 When a group or collection is in test the test state will update to in progress unconfirmed as soon as the ZXTELC has been polled to confirm the test is running the state will change to in progress. This status change is also reflected on the main view and fitting dialog. On test completion the fittings last test information will be updated to reflect the last test result. Aborting & cancelling tests Aborting a running test or cancelling a scheduled test is achieved by using the test scheduler dialog to abort the test. Open the test scheduler then highlight the specific tests by left clicking the table (use ctrl+ click or shift+ click to select multiple tests). After selecting the required tests click on Abort Test to start the process to abort all of the selected tests.
