3 A pretty big deal! Web-based programming interface to SAS It runs in your browser, which means that end users don't have to install anything (when connecting to a remote SAS session). Runs on Windows, Macs, and even the ipad An HTML5-based application, so there are no browser plugins needed. Basis for new offerings from SAS, most notably the SAS University Edition Free for any learner for non-commercial use. The SAS University Edition includes Base SAS, SAS/STAT, SAS/IML and SAS Access, running in a virtual machine, packaged with SAS Studio as the user interface.

6 PROGRAMMING INTERFACE Access your programs, data files, and libraries. When you run a program or task, SAS Studio connects to a SAS server in order to process the generated SAS code. The SAS server can be a hosted server in a cloud environment, or it can be a server in your local environment. After the code is processed, the program and task results are returned to SAS Studio.
