Instructions for Use This Instruction Manual for Additional Functions provides information about functions added to the Control Software, which is included with the PD-20 when purchased. To perform correct operation, read and thoroughly understand the Instruction Manual (CD-ROM) supplied with the Lumitester PD-20 for information including basic operations and instructions. Uninstall any previous version of the Control Software before installing Control Software 2. Refer to 5. How to install the Software on page 24 of the Control Software Instruction Manual. 2. Software Requirements Please visit our website for the latest information. PC with the following requirements: GHz Pentium class processor MB RAM or higher MB or more free disc space 4. CD-ROM drive that can read CD-ROM discs 5. PC with a USB port 6. Windows XP SP2 or later, Windows Vista (32bit/64bit), or Windows 7 (32bit/64bit) installed. 3. Description of Additional Functions Control Software 2 includes the basic functions of the Control Software supplied with the PD-20 when it is purchased as well as the following functions that have been added. Register Measurement Locations and Groups Measurement locations and groups can be registered for mode numbers in the Level Set Screen. (Refer to page 3.) Save Setting Levels to Files Setting Levels that have been set can be saved to a file in CSV format or JPEG format. (Refer to page 6.) Summary Data Setting conditions after loading data saved in the memory of the PD-20 enables displaying required data or graphing the required data. (Refer to page 9.) 2 How to Install the Software For information on how to install the software, refer to the Control Software Instruction Manual (CD-ROM) included with the PD-20 when it was purchased. Also, for Windows XP or Windows Vista, install Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5 following the instructions of the installer program. Installation Contents The following items will be installed. 1. Lumitester PD-20 Control Software Version USB driver for connecting to the Lumitester PD Microsoft.NET framework 3.5 (Windows XP and Windows Vista only) 4. Shortcut to our website 5. 3 3 Operation Procedure for Additional Functions 1. Registration of Measurement Objects or Locations and Groups Description of Level Set Screen The serial number of the connected PD-20 as well as the measurement objects or locations and groups entered into the Control Software 2 will be saved in the computer used. The next time that the PD-20 is connected to the computer, the registered measurement objects or locations and groups can be called for each serial number of a connected PD-20. The called measurement objects or locations and groups will also be updated in the data loaded into the Data Load Screen Register the Measurement Objects or Locations and Groups 1. Start Control Software 2. Once it is started, connect the PD-20 to the computer. 2. Click Load button in the Level Set Screen. Any Level Set Values registered in the PD-20 will be loaded. This serial number will be displayed in the lower right part of the Level Set Screen. To register a measurement object or location, enter it directly into the cell. To register a group name, enter it directly into the cell. Save the Load Data in CSV Format. Save the Load Data in JPEG Format. The serial number will be displayed when Level Set Values are loaded. Print out the Load Data. Display the serial number Note As with the included Control Software, you can use Shortcut keys to copy [Crtl + C] and paste [Ctrl + V]. You can also use the Del Key to delete, Tab Key to move to cells to the right, and the Enter Key to move to cells below. 3. Input Level Set Values, measurement objects or locations and groups in the Level Set Screen as required. Measurement objects or locations and groups can be input using only alphanumeric characters. It is convenient to separate groups for data totaling. 3 4

4 4. Click Write button once all has been entered. The serial number of the connected PD-20 as well as the measurement objects or locations and groups that were input will be saved in the computer you are using. The next time that the PD-20 is connected to the computer, click Load button to load the measurement objects or locations and groups registered for each serial number of a connected PD Save Files Data that has been loaded can be saved in CSV format or JPEG format. Save Files in CSV Format 1. Save the load data on the screen to files in CSV format.click Save CSV File button, and the Save As window is indicated. Specify a file name and click Save button to save the displayed data under the specified file name.the initial file name consists of the [PD-20 serial number] + [date of saving] + level. The initial file name will be the: [PD-20 serial number] + [date of saving] + level Caution The measurement objects or locations and group names will not be displayed if the PD-20 is connected to a different computer. If the measurement objects or locations and groups are to be used on a different computer, save them to a file in CSV format and reregister them in the Level Set Screen. To register, copy and paste the data on the Level Set Screen by using shortcut keys to copy [Crtl + C] and paste [Ctrl + V]. 2.The data is saved as shown in the example below. You can process data using functions of a spreadsheet. 5 6

5 Save Files in JPEG Format Saving can be performed only for mode numbers that have been input. Mode numbers for which reference numbers 1 and 2 are zero or blank and for which the measurement object or location and group are blank will not be saved. If you need to perform saving for a blank mode number or for a specific mode number only, select the mode number and click Save JPEG File button to perform saving only for the selected mode number. 1. Save the load data on the screen to files in JPEG format. Click Save JPEG File button, and the Save As window is indicated. Specify a file name and click Save button to save the data under the specified file name. The initial file name consists of the [PD-20 serial number] + [date of saving] + [number of files] + level. The name of the save file is automatically put the numbers of files at the end of the name. File numbers start with Data is saved as shown in the example below. Selecting Mode Numbers Select a mode number, and then click Save JPEG File. File name: [PD-20 serial number] + [date of saving] + "level" Note One file saves up to 64 pieces of data. Therefore, if you save 2,000 pieces of data, 32 files will be created Print Print the load data on the display with printer. Click Print button and print it in JPEG format. 7 8

Extract and Chart Memory Data Description of Data Load Screen Setting conditions after loading data saved in the memory of the PD-20 enables displaying required data only or charting the required data only Extract Memory Data 1. Click Summary button to display the Extraction Condition Setting Screen. The following conditions can be used for extraction. Execute extraction. Total the load data. Rank : Data will be extracted in the specified ranks. Measurement objects or locations : Data will be extracted for the selected measurement objects or locations. Up to five measurement objects or locations can be specified. The registered memory objects or locations are displayed in the Level Set Screen in a drop-down list in alphabetical or Japanese kana character order. The top of the drop-down list will be blank. Select the blank cell to clear the conditions. Group : Data will be extracted for the selected groups. Measurement objects or locations for which totaling is often performed can be set into a group. Totaling can then be performed simply by specifying the group. Registered groups will be displayed in a dropdown list in the Level Set Screen. The top of the drop-down list will be blank. Select the blank cell to clear the conditions. Date : Data will be extracted between specified dates. To select a date, click the calendar marked or the arrow, and the calendar will open. Select the date directly in the calendar. Combining conditions enables extracting only the required data. Clear the set conditions. Cancel extraction. Memory number : Data will be extracted in the range of the specified numbers. Mode number : Data will be extracted in the range of the specified mode numbers. If only one mode number is specified, the same number will be input in both cells. 9 10

7 2. Set the extraction conditions, and then click Extraction button. The Chart Select Screen will be displayed. The data displayed in the Data Load Screen will be only the extracted data Make Charts Desription of Chart Selection Screen The following types of charts can be created. Save totaled data in CSV format. Save totaled data in JPEG format. Extraction data will also be saved. Print totaled data. End totaling. Make bar charts. Make line charts. Make circular charts. Bar charts : The average of RLU values is displayed in a bar chart. Comparison of averages for each measurement object or location can be performed. Line charts : Changes in the averages of the RLU values are displayed chronologically. Redo totaling. Circular charts : The percentage for ABC rank for all extracted measurement objects or locations is displayed. 3. Next, the following steps can be selected. a) End Totaling Click End:Summary button to display all data. b) Make Charts Select the chart, and then click the button for the chart. c) Re-total Click Re:Summary button to return to the Extraction Condition Settings Screen. All data before extraction can be extracted again by setting additional extraction conditions Make Bar Charts 1. Click Bar Chart button in the Chart Selection Screen. A chart will be created as shown in the following figure. Extraction conditions Print out to a are displayed. Printer. The average of Copy screen. values is displayed. Close screen. 8 To enlarge the display of an area, press the left mouse button down while dragging the cursor to encompass the area as shown in the following figure. 2. Next, the following steps can be selected. a) Print Click Print (P) button to print to a printer. b) Copy Click Copy (C) button to copy a chart. The copied graph can be pasted to word-processing software. This is useful such as for making a report. c) Close the Chart Window Click End (X) button to close the Chart Screen Make Line Charts 1. Click Line Chart button in the Chart Selection Screen. A chart as shown in the following figure will be Made. When the pointer is moved to a highlighted place, the measurement object or location, measurement date, and measurement average will be displayed. Extraction conditions are displayed. The group is displayed under the measurement object or location. One group marked with an arrow continues until the next group. Print out to a printer. End vertical enlargement. Move upward. The average of values is displayed. Information on the data will be displayed when the pointer is moved near a highlighted area. Copy screen. Close screen. Move downward. End horizontal enlargement. Move to the left. Move to the right. Information on the data before totaling and information on the data after totaling is displayed. The display can be enlarged using the same procedures as for bar charts. 2. For the next step, refer to Section 2 in Make Bar Charts

9 Make Circular Charts 1. Click Circular Chart button in the Chart Selection Screen. A chart will be made as shown in the following figure. 3. Information Screen Description of Information Screen The version information of the control software is displayed. Extraction conditions are displayed. Print to a printer. Copy screen. Close screen. The ABC rank percentage is displayed. Information on the data before totaling and information on the data after totaling is displayed. 2. For the next step, refer to Section 2 in Make Bar Charts
