1 MATH Timed Tests Sample Pack = 85 x Grades 3-5 = 72 Addition Subtraction Multiplication Division Geometry--plain and solid sum, addend factor, product fractions rounding greater than/less than elapsed time/am/pm special student Math Whiz Award
2 How to Use Your Math Timed Tests This is a sample pack from a very effective set of daily math tests that I have used quite successfully in my class for many years. Students master their basic facts and become excited and motivated to excel. The instructions below are those included in the larger 3 Math Timed Test Unit but will also work for this sample package. Tests can be given 3 times weekly, or every day. Choose whatever schedule you find best for your class. Time allowed: 5 minutes - I set a kitchen timer. When first starting the program, all students should begin on the 2 s. Students must get 100% on a test in order to go on to the next test. If any problems are incomplete or wrong, those students must take the same test the next day, until a 100% passing score is achieved. The easiest way to use this program is to duplicate many copies of each level and keep them in labeled file folders for easy daily access. Remember to cut tests as indicated before filing. After checking tests, enter only the passing tests on the Daily Math Record Sheet (near the back of this booklet) under the appropriate level. Enter the date that the student passed the test. Use this record sheet to write students names on the Today's Tests sheet (near the back of this booklet) so you can quickly hand out the correct tests the following day. An award sheet is included to recognize students who have achieved mastery. You might give awards after students pass: levels 2 through levels A through E, which I called the Long John tests levels F through Z levels AA through ZZ however you want to recognize a student for math test achievement. I presented the awards at our Student-of-the-Month assemblies. I hope these tests prove successful, motivating, and easy to use! Best wishes, Mary Hopkins Creator - Ready Sets
3 The tests included in this free unit are taken from my 3 Math Timed Tests unit. These progressive daily math tests are usable for the entire school year. All tests are California State Standards based. Perfect for classroom as well as home school use, the timed math tests are great motivators for students, and ensure a solid foundation in basic math facts and success in math mastery. 3 Math Timed Tests begin with simple multiplication facts and progress to more challenging problems and concepts, including: * multiplication facts 2- * 5 tests of mixed multiplication facts (the "Long Johns") * multiplication: 2 digit times 1 digit * multiplication: 3 digit times 1 digit * multiplication: 4 digit times 1 digit * 2 tests of mixed facts: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division * simple division - tests * rounding numbers * simple algebra * greater than, less than, equal * math terms: sum, addend, product, quotient, divisor, dividend * geometry: lines, 3D figures, 2D figures, polygons, angles, types of triangles * fact families * congruence * symmetry * area * perimeter * missing addends, missing factors * fractions, identification, adding, subtracting, simplest form * place value * expanded notation * odd and even numbers * time/clocks/elapsed time/a.m./p.m. * word problems * money * division with remainders * measurement -- standard and metric * patterns ** Also included -- easy to use teacher record sheets and student math award
