3 CLASS PREPARATION DAILY SCHEDULE Classes begin at 8:30am each day and end at 4:30pm. There are no classes on Saturdays or Sundays. Homework, including both reading & written, will be assigned. Classes on Friday will end no later than 2:00pm. WHAT TO BRING: DISPENSING SYSTEMS CLASS: Small hand tools (pliers, screwdrivers and a small 3/8 socket set) A volt/ohm meter with the capacity to measure voltage and current An antistatic wrist strap Laptop and cable for connecting to Encore pumps with laptop tool software Students should also be prepared to carry home several technical manuals and notebooks VEEDER ROOT TRAINING CLASSES: For all V/R level 2/3 and 4 classes an updated copy of manuals will be provided to students in class. Students should have a pen and notepad and be prepared to make notes in class Level 1 training consists of a home study on-line test; this must be completed prior to attending Level 2/3 classes. A minimal computer able to perform functions would meet the following criteria: Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher Sound Card & multimedia speakers (or headphones) with adjustable volume Firewall and browser adjusted to allow all content from to disable blocking programs (Norton, Google, Yahoo, etc) during LMS usage. 4 CLASS PREPARATION CONTINUED: EXPENSES - Lunch will be provided for each day of training. You are responsible for all travel and lodging expenses. RECOMMENDED ATTIRE - We suggest casual attire that is suitable for sitting and walking. Safety regulations require long pants (no shorts) and closed-toe footwear. HOTEL RESERVATIONS - You are required to make your own hotel reservations. We have made arrangements with some of the nearby hotels for special rates when attending Gilbarco Training courses. Call at least two weeks prior to checking in. Guarantee your room for late arrival if checking in after 4:00pm. On the last day of class, check out of the hotel before leaving for class and take your luggage with you. This course will train your new technicians to install, startup, program and troubleshoot dispensers. It has been completely updated to reflect the newest boards and features sets. The hour online course is accessible from any broadband-connected Windows XP/2000/NT computer. Once you have completed the online prep course, you will take an exam. Scoring 80% or higher on this exam will allow you to attend the 5 day Dispensing Systems Hands-On Class with an instructor. 6 Months Field Experience DISPENSING SYSTEMS HANDS-ON TRAINING 5 Days $ (plus tax) This course is made for technicians Hands-on application of new skills. Upload software, Program Dispensers, and set-up and use your laptop. Complete & Pass Dispensing Systems On-Line Training RED JACKET 1 Day $ (plus tax) This course covers new STP. STP operation and Controllers. The effects of Thermal Contraction, Mechanical Leak Detectors etc. No required Pre-Requisite GASBOY FLEET SYSTEMS 5 Days $ (plus tax) This course covers Gasboy 1000 Fleet Systems, Topkat Systems & Gasboy 9800 Pumps. 6 Months Field Experience PASSPORT TRAINING 5 Days $ (plus tax) This course will cover the installation and set up of the Passport POS Systems. Course material concentrates on startup service and programming of the new passport. Must have 6 months field experience after successfully completing the Dispensing Systems Training Course ***Please Note: This new Dispensing Systems course is the only method of certification now. The 9-day instructor-led and the disc-based plus 2 day course no longer exist. If you purchased tuition for the disc-based course from the Training Department in 2007 and have not completed it, then contact us for instructions on how to take advantage of the new training instead. This course is a prerequisite to attend the Level 2/3 instruction. *PLEASE NOTE: Veeder Root Level 2/3 Classes are only scheduled 1 time per region per calendar year. VEEDER ROOT LEVEL 2/3* 3 Day $ (plus tax) VEEDER ROOT TLS-450 TRAINING 1 Day $ (plus tax) VEEDER ROOT LEVEL 4** 1 Day $ (plus tax) VEEDER ROOT LEVEL 4 (ON-LINE) On-Line Home Study Course $ (plus tax) EURO MASTER VISA (ON-LINE) Currently N/C PAM 5000 (ON-LINE) $ (plus tax) Ecometer (ON-LINE) Currently N/C The level 2/3 class covers installation of the Veeder-Root, startup and programming. It also includes operation of the Veeder-Root and troubleshooting of various V/R problems. This course is designed for technicians to obtain their Gilbarco/Veeder-Root TLS Level 2/3 Certification. The certification certifies the technician for 24 months giving him access to Gilbarco/Veeder-Roots Technical assistance and the ability to do start-up and warranty work. This course is designed for technicians to obtain their instruction and certification on the new TLS-450. **PLEASE NOTE: Veeder Root Level 4 Class can be combined with the TLS-450 class for 2 consecutive days of training, however, the Student Must register for the TLS-450 Course separately. This course involves a review of Level 1 and 2/3, updates and enhancements to Veeder-Root monitoring systems. This course is for re-certification of Gilbarco/Veeder- Root TLS Level 2/3 technicians 18 months after their TLS Level 2/3 certification and every 24 months there after. This course involves a review of Level 1 and 2/3, updates and enhancements to Veeder-Root monitoring systems. You must complete this course before performing any registrations, warranty work, or making repairs to a PAM Gilbarco will provide a grace period for technicians to complete the PAM 5000 training course. All technicians that wish to perform maintenance or a start-up on a PAM 5000 will have until February 1 st 2009 to complete the on-line training course or warranty and registrations will not be accepted. 9 PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING IF YOU HOLD AN EXPIRED LEVEL 2/3 OR LEVEL 4 CERTIFICATE Beginning June 01, 2006, if a technician has allowed his Level 2/3 or Level 4 certification to expire ( by even 1 day ) then he must request to be enrolled in an online TLS Startup/Service Exam (the start-up exam will cost $75.00 (Canadian) each) this would be equivalent to the knowledge that a Level 2/3 technician should have. He will only be allowed to retake the exam once; if, on the second attempt, he fails the exam then he must complete a full 3 day Level 2/3 course with an instructor to become re-certified. If he passes the Startup/Service Exam, he will be able to enroll in a Level 4 Recertification Course. Keep in mind that simply passing the Startup/Service Exam will NOT re-certify the technician he must complete and pass a Level 4 Course. The exam only services as a prerequisite for an expired technician to be able to enroll in a Re-certification Course, either in the classroom with an instructor or On-Line. Please see the following table for the new procedure: IF YOU HOLD A VALID LEVEL 2/3 OR LEVEL 4 CERTIFICATION STEP 1: Enroll in a Level 4 Recertification Course before the expiration date. STEP 2: Successfully complete the Level 4 Course and your certification will be valid for another 2 Years. IF YOU HOLD AN EXPIRED LEVEL 2/3 OR LEVEL 4 CERTIFICATION STEP 1: Send the form to the Training Department with a cheque for the On-Line Start-Up Exam. STEP 2: The Training Department will contact you when your form is received and enroll you in an online test for Startup/Service. ( This is a HIGH PRIORITY for Gilbarco you will not experience any delay ) The Registrar will contact you via with instructions STEP 3: You will log in to the online learning center and complete your exam. IF YOU PASS IF YOU FAIL You will need to contact the Training Registrar via at technicaltraining@gilbarco.com for You will be cleared to enroll in a ONE Test Reset. You will take the Level 4 Recertification Course. exam again. If you fail the test again, then you must enroll in a Level 2/3 Instructor Led Course instead (you will not go to Step 4). STEP 4: Complete a Level 4 Course ( either on-line or in the classroom ) within 90 DAYS to recertify. ( You will NOT be considered a Valid Technician until this time ). Page 9 NEE Training Flyer
