Theory : - Cryptography,substitution cipher,caesar cipher,monoalphabetic & polyalphabetic substitution, cipher vigenere cipher, DES and public key encryption. Program :- Result :- Cryptographic methods have been studied. 1) What is the relation between plaintext and cipher text? 2) Why is polyalphabetic substitution superior to monoalphabetic substitution? 3) What are the two categories of encryption decryption methods? 4) What is the concept behind transpositional character level encryption?

7 Experiment No. 5 Aim :- Study of TCP/IP & Internet. Layers of TCP/IP protocol suite,internet administration,ip addressing, Sub netting & super netting, ARP,ICMP,UDP,TCP,BOOTP & DHCP,DNS,TELNET& Rlogin, FTP, TFTP,SMTP, SNMP,HTTP,WWW,IPv6, RFC, Port addresses. Diagrams to be drawn : TCP/IP Protocol suite with various protocols of each layer Execute various commands like:- arp,net stat,telnet,ipconfig,ping,tracert.note down the output & purpose of each command. Result :- Result of various command and TCP/IP protocols studied. 1) What is MIME? 2) What is POP? 3) What is CGI? 4) What is HTML?
8 Experiment No. 6 Aim :- Study of college LAN. How the switches on hub are connected to a central location? How leased line is connected to a router? Where this router is connected, also find the distance of each hub or switch to central location. Suggest improvement. Diagram to be drawn :- Complete sketch of college LAN, showing no of computers connected in each lab to connecting devices like hub,switch etc. Result :- The college LAN is studied. 1) Why there is no bridge in college LAN? 2) What is the use of router in this campus? 3) What is the bandwidth of the leased line? 4) What need of the proxy server?
9 Experiment No. 7 Aim :- Design of LAN for s typical branch office of the bank. A typical branch of the bank consists of about 40 connected hosts, located on a single floor. One of these hosts is the mail server while another is a Database Server for the branch. The mail server handles all the incoming and outing mails of the branch employees. The database server records all the daily transactions carried in the branch. 1. Design a network topology to be used and the physical layout Plan the placing of hubs or switches in the office area and the no of connections to each hub or switch. 2. Mention the cost of accessories like hub/switch, type of connection cables, length of cable used etc. Give the final quotation for whole setup. 3. Analyze your design whether it is optimized for performance or for cost. Justify you selection of hardware. Result :- A LAN for typical branch office of a bank is successfully designed. 1) What is the maximum speed of your college LAN? 2) How will you find out MAC address of your computer or other computers in your LAN? 3) What are the loopholes in the current design of a LAN? What improvements you Suggest? 4) How will you check the connectivity of the computers in LAN?
10 Experiment No. 8 Aim : Design of WAN for connecting all the branches of the bank. The next requirement is to enable connectivity between the branches of the bank. The bank has one Head office (HO), which is to be connected to five Regional offices(ro).each RO in turn has ten Branches under its purview. Each branch requires intermittent connectivity to the RO for transferring transaction details to the Regional Database Server. The ROs on the other hand require 24-hour connectivity with the HO. 1. Design a WAN to inter-connect these offices. You may use private links(leased lines) between the branches or inter-connect through the Internet. 2. Mention the cost of additional hardware required ( routers,links etc.). Estimate an annual cost for the whole set up at each office. 3. Analyze your design and justify your selection of hardware/links. Result :- A WAN for branches of a bank is successfully designed. 1) Which networking devices are used in WAN? 2) What are the examples of WAN? 3) What are the advantages of using WAN? 4) What is packet format in WAN?
11 Experiment No. 9 Aim : Study of Novell Netware. 1. Network protocols used by NetWare 5 : IPX/SPX & NCP. 2. Open data link interface ODI. 3. Hardware requirements for NetWare servers. 4. NetWare loadable Modules NLM s. 5. NetWare Directory services NDS. 6. NetWare Printing system overview. 7. Security & Integrity in NetWare5? Passwords & login restriction,file system Security, trustee & trustee rights, bindery. 8. NetWare5 TCP/IP support. 9. DHCP & DNS support. 10. Creating & managing Login scripts. 11. Creating & managing group object. 12. Saving time with template.
